Leg injury

SHAMOKIN - John Parker Jr., 36, of 11 S. Market St., Shamokin, has been identified by Shamokin police as the person injured in an accident Wednesday afternoon at Grant and Chestnut streets.

Chief of Police Edward Griffiths said Parker, who is employed by Fegley's Trash and Coal, had picked up a garbage bag when he slipped on the ice, causing him to fall underneath a garbage/coal truck and suffer a serious leg injury.

Parker was transported by AREA Services Ambulance to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m.

Theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jason Davis, 38, of Sherman Street, told police someone entered his 2003 Chevy Cavalier between Jan. 22 and Wednesday and removed the inspection sticker from the windshield and the registration card from the glove compartment. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

Crash

PAXINOS - One person was injured Wednesday in a three-vehicle crash at the red light at Routes 487 and 61.

According to Trooper Daniel Wilk, state police at Stonington, Gary D. Reidt, 45, of Trevorton, was approaching the red light on southbound Route 487 in a 2001 Dodge Durango about 3:41 p.m. when he rear-ended a 2005 Ford Escape driven by Tonya M. Henninger, 29, of Shamokin.

The impact forced Henninger's vehicle into the rear of a 2001 Chevrolet 2500 driven by James E. Rafter, 58, of Bloomsburg.

Wilk said Rafter suffered an injury of unknown severity to his lower back and was taken by Elysburg Ambulance for treatment at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

No other injuries were reported by either driver or by Henninger's passenger, an 8-year-old Shamokin girl.

All four were wearing seat belts.

Henninger's vehicle was disabled while the other two vehicles sustained minor damages, Wilk said.

Reidt was charged with driving with a suspended license and following too closely.

Harassment

DALMATIA - Kenneth Gonse, 45, of Dalmatia, will be cited by Cpl. Jerry Hughes, state police at Stonington, with harassment for allegedly shoving and striking Peter Courtelyou, 70, of Herndon, about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Hughes said Courtelyou was attempting to serve eviction papers on Gonse at 1979 George St. when the incident occurred.
