MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court March 17 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n John D. Gilbert, 46, of Mount Carmel, waived to court a retail theft charge filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch.

He is charged with stealing a can of Spam valued at $2.50 and attempting to remove other items from the Dollar General store at 250 S. Market St. Nov. 18.

n Michelle L. Levengood, 23, of 105 W. Girard St., Atlas, pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $50 fine plus costs and placed on probation for six months. An additional count of disorderly conduct was withdrawn.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush.

Levengood is accused of yelling and cursing at police and a county Children and Youth Services caseworker so loudly that neighbors exited their homes to see what was going on. Police said the disturbance occurred Nov. 15 at Levengood's residence.

n Daniel K. Luke, 31, of 332 S. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and make $1,179.94 in restitution and was placed on probation for one year.

Additional charges of resisting arrest, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, harassment and public drunkenness were withdrawn.

He was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Shane Reamer with yelling and charging at an employee at Puffs Tobacco store on South Oak Street, smoking in the store and scratching a police cruiser Dec. 11.

n Shawna Marie McCoy, 22, of 1110 Chemung St., Coal Township, waived charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and possession of 100 Percocet tablets involving a Nov. 13, 2012, burglary at the apartment of Anna Mazak, 351 S. Market St.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman.

n Robert Phillip Rath, 38, of 21 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of burglary, criminal trespass, illegally possessing a firearm, theft and receiving stolen property filed by Mount Carmel Lt. Christopher Buhay.

Rath is accused of stealing a .32-caliber pistol and medication from the residence of Joseph Durovick, 23 N. Locust St., between Nov. 11 and Nov. 22.

n Kathleen E. Ruchko, 55, of 147 N. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on probation for six months.

The charge was filed by Mount Carmel Chief of Police Todd Owens in connection with a Dec. 12 incident at Ruchko's home.

n Ronald W. Hain Jr., 41, of 221 E. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, waived a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol involving a Dec. 21 vehicle stop in the 200 block of East Seventh Street.

The charge was filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Justin Stelma.

n Julie A. Darrup, 42, of 641 Pine St., Kulpmont, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Nov. 23 traffic stop at Fourth and Beech streets.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Shane Reamer.

n Joshua M. Giffin, 27, of Reading, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of careless driving filed by Riverside Patrolman Kerry Parkes in connection with a Dec. 7 accident on Avenue G just south of Sabra Way in Riverside.

n Heather A. Frank, 28, of 331 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, was held for court after failing to appear for a preliminary hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia filed by Mount Carmel Township Officer Daniel Politza.

The charges stem from a March 27 incident at a West Saylor Street home in Atlas, where Frank allegedly overdosed by swallowing a Fentanyl patch along with other medication.

n Michael P. McFadden, 42, of 251 E. Buick St., Mount Carmel, was held for court after failing to appear for a preliminary hearing on charges of criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness filed by borough Patrolman William Adamski.

The charges relate to a Nov. 24 disturbance in the 100 block of East Fifth Street.

n Robert C. Beaver, 50, of 403 Columbia Ave., Aristes, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, a turning violation, careless driving and driving on the wrong side of the road.

The charges filed by Mount Carmel Cpl. David Donkochik relate to a Sept. 28 incident at Second and Maple streets.
