Hurt in crash
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - A Shamokin woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 4:58 p.m. Thursday on Captain Bloom Road.
State police at Stonington reported Sheila Brophy, 29, lost control of her 2010 Chevrolet Aveo while traveling on snow-covered Captain Bloom Road. The vehicle slid off the roadway and rolled onto its roof. Brophy suffered a minor neck injury in the crash and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment.
Assault
MOUNT CARMEL - Police charged Steven Ennis, 30, of 222 S. Beech St., with simple assault and firearms violations following an altercation with another individual on North Oak Street at 3:45 a.m. Dec. 28.
Borough Police Patrolman William Adamski reported in court documents that while on patrol, he observed Ennis punch another individual twice in the 00 block of North Oak Street. After being taken into custody and searched, Ennis informed police that he was carrying a firearm in his back pocket, but was not licensed to do so because of his past criminal record.
Ennis was charged with felony counts of unlawful carry of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, simple assault, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arraigned Dec. 28 and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 8 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.
Drug charges
MOUNT CARMEL - Police charged Matthew Patrick Kern, 21, of 1139 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, and Brian B. Horan, 35, of 213 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, with drug offenses following a stop at the 300 block of East Fifth St., at 5:53 p.m. Oct. 13.
Police reported that officers were responding to a tip that Kern, a wanted person out of Lancaster County, was residing on East Fifth Street. When they arrived on scene, they observed Kern walking over to two individuals, one of them being Horan. When searched, officers found a substance, later field-tested to be marijuana, on Kern's person. Kern then told police that he received the marijuana from Horan, who had walked away from the scene but was apprehended a few blocks away.
Both individuals were arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were placed in Northumberland County Prison, Kern on $20,000 bail and Horan on $15,000 bail. Preliminary hearings are scheduled before Jones on Jan. 8.
Disorderly conduct
ATLAS - Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush charged Michelle L. Levengood, 23, of 105 W. Girard St., Atlas, with disorderly conduct following an incident in front at her residence at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 15.
Hollenbush reported in court documents that Levengood was yelling and cursing at police and a county children and youth caseworker so loudly that neighbors exited their homes to see what was going on.
A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones is scheduled for Jan. 22.
Criminal mischief
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - Donald Lynch, 50, of Montgomery, was cited for criminal mischief following an argument at the Warrior Run Fire Station at 2 p.m. Friday.
According to state police at Milton, Lynch became involved in an argument with Andrew Hartzell, 19, of Mount Carmel, over personal property. Lynch allegedly threw a microwave, clock radio and a computer printer on the ground, causing $170 in damage.
