One-vehicle crash
COAL TOWNSHIP - A Sunbury woman was not injured in a one-car crash at 1:42 p.m. Wednesday in the area of the Brewery Curve, Route 61.
Coal Township police officer Chad Yoder reported a 1998 Ford Taurus, driven by Rachel Earl, 21, of Sunbury, was traveling north on Route 61 when she lost control of the vehicle as it was going into a curve. The vehicle slid across the southbound lanes and struck the guardrail.
The vehicle sustained moderate damage.
Hit and run
UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Scott Chandler, 30, of Northumberland, reported to state police at Stonington that at 4:15 p.m. Dec. 13, he was struck by an unknown vehicle while riding his bicycle on Route 147 South near the Upper Augusta Township-Sunbury City line, and the vehicle fled the scene.
Police said the matter is under investigation.
Theft by deception
ZERBE TOWNSHIP - State police are continuing their investigation into a scam involving a Shamokin woman.
State police at Stonington report that an unknown person posed as a representive of a fictitious financial institution while scamming the victim, April D. Herman, 28, of Shamokin. Police said the transaction was completed via Western Union.
Drug charge at SCI
COAL TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington say an investigation is continuing into the transfer of contraband at SCI Coal Township on Dec. 15.
According to police, prison staff members contacted state police and reported the subject, a 46-year-old Harrisburg female, possessed and attempted to pass suspected marijuana to an inmate she was visiting.
State police said charges are pending further investigation.
