COAL TOWNSHIP - Kevineric Eltringham, 29, of 1432 W. Arch St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly removing heavy equipment metal parts from a mining/construction site on Big Mountain owned by Kenneth Snyder, 34, of 5351 State Route 61, Paxinos.

Route 901 crash

EXCELSIOR - Michael Cress, 54, of 121 Cedar Road, Shamokin, escaped injury Friday afternoon when a tri-axle dump truck he was operating along Route 901 slid off the side of the road onto an embankment as the driver was attempting to avoid a collision with a vehicle stopped in front of him.

Patrolman Chris Lapotsky reported Cress was driving a truck owned by Indian Hills Trucking and Contracting, Paxinos, north at 2:45 p.m. when he traveled around a right curve and observed a vehicle stopped in his lane in front of him that was waiting for oncoming traffic to clear to make a left turn into Excelsior.

In an attempt to avoid a collision, Cress steered onto the right berm and embankment area, where it came to rest. The truck was then driven off the embankment and sustained minor damage to its right side.
