AUGUSTAVILLE - The smell of pizza tipped off a pair of Rockefeller Township residents that someone was inside their home early Tuesday morning.
Mark Edward Lowry, 27, of 1345 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, is accused of entering 169 Victor Road through an unlocked door. Trooper Thomas C. Leib, state police at Stonington, said Lowry cooked a pizza about 3:15 a.m. When residents Kyle Richard Rhoads and Stacy Lee Shadel, both 29, were awakened, they confronted Lowry and held him at their home until police arrived.
A charge of criminal trespass was filed against Lowry at the office of Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, Sunbury.
Police did not indicate in a public information release if Lowry knew either Rhoads or Shadel.
Animal cruelty
ELIZABETHVILLE - Phyllis M. Lubold, 83, of Herndon, was charged with animal cruelty following an incident at the Walmart store, 200 Kocher Lane, Washington Township, at 1:58 p.m. Tuesday.
State police at Lykens reported Lubold went shopping inside the store, leaving a one-year-old Jack Russell terrier unattended in the car with only a window cracked. Police say Lubold was inside the store for more than 40 minutes while the dog was left in 90-degree heat.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Rebecca Jo Margerum, of Elizabethville.
Drug charges
SHAMOKIN - City police filed drug charges Monday against Kyle Kreitzer, 20, of 231 S. Franklin St., following an investigation into a drug buy in June.
City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano reported in court documents that police allegedly used a confidential informant to purchase $60 worth of marijuana from Kreitzer at the Franklin Street address on June 22. Later that evening, police went to Kreitzer's residence and he consented to have the authorities search his bedroom.
Police found six plastic bags of marijuana, four packs of heroin, several items of drug paraphernalia and approximately $800 in cash, including the money used in the controlled buy. Kreitzer allegedly told police that he does sell the marijuana, but the heroin was for his personal use.
Kreitzer was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and counts of delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, and possession of a controlled substance. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Drug charges
SHAMOKIN - John A. Lenig, 42, of Shamokin, was charged by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano with drug charges after he allegedly sold marijuana to a confidential informant on two separate occasions on March 14 for $20 each.
All total, Lenig faces two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility. The charges were filed Wednesday with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
