Kidnapping
KELLY TOWNSHIP - A Sunbury man is accused of threatening a Kelly Township man and kidnapping his girlfriend's daughter between the hours of 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. Monday, according to state police at Milton.
Trooper T.C. Brininger said Darian Simmons-Walton, 21, of Fourth Street, allegedly traveled to the home of Shakiel Rice, 21, at 308 Timberhaven Drive, Kelly Township, pointed a gun at Rice and verbally threatened him.
Simmons-Walton then allegedly took Rice's 3-year-old-daughter, who is also the child of Simmons-Walton's girlfriend, police said.
A court order was filed prior to the incident denying Simmons-Walton from having any contact with the child, police said.
The girl was safely recovered in Sunbury and Simmons was taken into custody after he fled the residence, police said.
He was arraigned in district court in Lewisburg on one count each of kidnapping, interfering with the custody of children, terrorist threats and simple assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of children.
He was committed to Union County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.
State police were assisted by police departments from Sunbury, Point Township, Northumberland and Shamokin Dam.
