Furnishing alcohol

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Shawn William Simonson, 21, of Danville, has been charged by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement in Montoursville with furnishing alcohol to minors involving an incident at 8:40 p.m. Friday.

Trespass

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Cpl. George Ritchey of state police at Stonington has cited Chico Bustillo, 32, of 250 Church St., Sunbury, for allowing a 15-year-old male from Northumberland to drive without a license.

Ritchey also cited the juvenile for trespass relating to an incident at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday at the Auto Depot Salvage Yard along Route 61 in Upper Augusta Township.

MONTOURSVILLE - Sgt. Jeffrey L. McGinness, district office commander for the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement in Montoursville, said his office received 53 complaints in May.

He said age compliance checks were conducted at 11 licensed establishments and two establishments were cited for selling alcohol to minors.

The district issued six violation letters and 10 warning letters for violations of liquor laws.

Underage drinking

COAL TOWNSHIP - Multiple charges have been filed by Coal Township police against several juveniles involved in an underage drinking party at 9:33 p.m. May 31 in the third patch of Bear Valley.

Police, who encountered several juveniles at the party, reported a 17-year-old Mount Carmel male became combative and fought with Detective Jeff Brennan and Officer Terry Ketchem while resisting arrest. Police said Ketchem suffered a sprained knee during the incident and underwent emergency room treatment at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital before being released.

The 17-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and underage drinking.

While Brennan and Ketchem were arresting the 17-year-old, a 15-year-old male from Mount Carmel began yelling at the officers and interfering with the arrest, police said. The 15-year-old, who struck Brennan in the arm, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and obstructing administration of the law, according to police. Brennan suffered minor bruises.

Another 15-year-old male from Mount Carmel was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and underage drinking.

Police said five other juveniles were cited for underage drinking: a 17-year-old male from Coal Township, a 17-year-old male from Mount Carmel, a 16-year-old male from Mount Carmel, a 15-year-old male from Kulpmont and a 17-year-old male from Kulpmont.

Furnishes alcohol

SHAMOKIN - Dennis A. Hynes, 21, of 1745 Tioga St., Coal Township, has been charged by city police with two counts of furnishing alcohol to minors.

Hynes is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with purchasing and furnishing alcohol to a 19-year-old male and 16-year-old female in the 700 block of Bear Valley Avenue on March 31.

He also is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with furnishing beer to a minor on Independence Street on May 10.

Hynes was arraigned at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $2,000 bail.
