Retail theft
SELINSGROVE - Shawna Houser, 19, and Summer Smith, 18, both of Shamokin, were cited by state police at Selinsgrove for retail theft for allegedly stealing $59.17 in merchandise from Wal-Mart on Routes 11-15 at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday.
Theft of services
SHAMOKIN - Leshaun Lofton, 29, of 415 Spurzheim St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for theft of services for allegedly placing several bags of garbage in a Dumpster owned by someone else at Water and Washington streets at 9:37 p.m. May 1.
Forgery
MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of forgery, tampering with records or identification, theft and receiving stolen property were filed by Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush against Jane Ellen Madrak, 54, of 46 N. Oak St., Apt. A, Mount Carmel.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Madrak is accused of stealing and forging two checks totaling $275 belonging to Leonard A. Zlocki, of 445 E. North St., Marion Heights. Police said the checks were stolen from Zlocki's home and cashed at Susquehanna Bank.
Madrak was arraigned by Jones on Thursday and released on $15,000 unsecured bail.
Pleads guilty
MOUNT CARMEL - Robert Leroy Persing III, 22, of 1 Clarion St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and violating a borough ordinance pertaining to discharging a firearm and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a total of $500 in fines plus costs.
Additional charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct were withdrawn.
Persing was charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka in connection with an April 14 disturbance at 919 Chestnut St., Apt. A, Kulpmont, in which he allegedly fired a shot from a handgun into the floor of the apartment in an effort to stop his mother, Patricia Betz, from fighting with his girlfriend, Brooke Mulac.
