Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - Randall Walters, 34, of 809 W. Pine St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with harassment for allegedly hitting Lawrence Miller, 47, of 338 S. Fourth St., Sunbury, in the side of the face with an open hand during an argument at 10:45 a.m. April 24 on Walters' front porch.

Threatens teacher

COAL TOWNSHIP - Matthew Dewitt Jr., 18, of 1008 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with harassment for allegedly threatening to punch a teacher in the face at 10:15 a.m. April 23 at Shamokin Area Middle-Senior High School because she took his cell phone away from him.

Restaurant damaged

COAL TOWNSHIP - The Don Patron Mexican Restaurant in the Plaza at Coal Township was damaged Sunday night when a car mounted a pavement and crashed into the business.

Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell said Darrell James Tidewell III, 23, of 241 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was attempting to back his 1998 Saturn from a parking stall in front of the restaurant at about 8 p.m. when he placed the car in drive instead of reverse. The vehicle mounted the pavement and struck the glass window on the business, causing it to smash. The frame work along the interior lower wall of the restaurant also was damaged.

The vehicle sustained minor damage to its front end.

Tidewell and his two passengers, Lea Tidewell, 57, of 241 W. Pine St., Shamokin, and Patrice Ramey, 41, of 214 W. Sunbury St., Shamokin, were not injured. No one in the restaurant was injured.

Tidewell will be cited for careless driving.
