Alcohol violations
FRACKVILLE - State police charged a Mount Carmel area man and a Frackville teen with alcohol-related violations following an investigation involving incidents from July 2011 to October 2012.
Police charged William Okronglis, 42, of the Mount Carmel area, with two counts of selling or furnishing liquor, malt and brewed beverages. State police at Frackville allege Okronglis provided alcoholic beverages to Kayleen Hilbert, 19, of Frackville, on two occasions.
Hilbert allegedly admitted to police that she consumed the beverages on those occasions, so police cited her for two counts of underage consumption.
Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, Frackville, and summons were sent to both defendants.
Debit card theft
SHAMOKIN - Kayla M. Wehry, 26, of 1008 N. Vine St., Shamokin, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and access device fraud following an incident at 12:30 p.m. April 21.
Shamokin City Police Patrolman Scott Weaver reported in court documents that Wehry allegedly took a debit card from another individual and used it at an ATM machine without the card owner's permission to withdraw $500.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - The drivers of two vehicles involved in an April 13 accident on North Second Street have been charged with driving under the influence.
Shamokin City Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle charged Robert Dewald, 65, of 1220 W. Water St., and Robert M. Smoogen, 56, of 1027 E. Race St., after both men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol following a 10:12 p.m. crash in the 00 block of North Second Street. Scandle reported in court documents that both drivers refused to submit to field sobriety tests and chemical blood testing.
Both drivers were charged with DUI, driving with a blood-alcohol content of .16 percent or higher and careless driving. Dewald was also charged with failure to drive on the right side of the road and driving with an expired license.
Both sets of charged were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin.
Child seat check
SELINSGROVE - State police at Selinsgrove will be participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) Click-It-or-Ticket campaign from May 20 to June 2 by holding a child passenger safety seat check event from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 20, at the Hummels Wharf Fire Company, 1869 N. Old Trail Road. The event is free.
Two troopers who are NHSTA-certified child protective seat testers will be present.
Anyone interested in having their child's seats checked for proper installation or assistance in installing a safety seat is encouraged to contact police at 374-8145 for an appointment. Each appointment will take approximately 20 minutes.
Harassment
WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP - Jason Paul Ranck, 35, of West Milton, was cited by state police at Milton for harassment after he allegedly called the cell phone of a 28-year-old female 51 times in less than an hour Tuesday night after be warned to stop calling.
Police did not identify the victim, but said the offenses occurred in West Chillisquaque Township.
Retail theft
MONROE TOWNSHIP - Amanda M. Alequin, 22, of Third Street, Sunbury, was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for retail theft for allegedly removing $89.77 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart along Routes 11-15 at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Minor injury
BUTLER TOWNSHIP - Daniel L. Barwick, 63, of Palmyra, suffered a minor injury in a one-car crash at 7 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate 81 in this Schuylkill County township.
State police at Frackville reported Barwick was driving north when his 2004 Acura RSX exited the highway and struck several trees in the median. Police said Barwick, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by ambulance to Schuylkill Medical Center.
His car was towed from the scene.
Barwick was cited for failure to drive in a single lane.
Criminal trespass
SHAMOKIN - Neil Allen Haddock, 28, of 834 W. Willow St., Coal Township, was arraigned by video at 10 a.m. Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on charges of criminal trespass, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and loitering and prowling at night.
Haddock is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with breaking into the residence of his former girlfriend, Cassandra Catino, of 120 Academy St., at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday before being detained in the upstairs area by Catino's current boyfriend, Shadi Abuomar, until police arrived and took him into custody.
Police said Haddock, who threatened Catino and Abuomar and caused damage to the front door of the home, was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
Theft from a vehicle
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Angela Troutman, 41, of Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington someone entered her vehicle and removed her laptop computer, purse and leather notebook and folder while the vehicle was parked on Plum Creek Road between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police at 286-5601.
