Game systems found

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two small game systems were brought to Coal Township police Tuesday after being found at the Shoe Department in the Plaza at Coal Township. The owner can claim them at the police station.

Car crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kendra Ruskuski, 25, of 224 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, escaped injury Monday night in a one-car accident along Route 61 near the Plumbing Outlet.

Coal Township police said Ruskuski was driving a white 1994 Ford sedan owned by Lorri Moore, of 714 N. Cherry St., Shamokin, south at 9:42 p.m. when she began having problems controlling the vehicle. Police said the auto pulled to the left and struck the center median divider, causing moderate damage to the car and minor damage to the median.

The car was towed from the scene by East End Auto.

Ruskuski, who only has a learner's permit, will be cited for not having a licensed driver in the vehicle.

Simple assault

COAL TOWNSHIP - Emily Engle, 21, of 45 S. Fifth St., Apt. 4, Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with simple assault and harassment involving an April 24 disturbance at 1204 Tharp St., Tharptown.

According to a criminal complaint, Engle is accused of punching her ex-boyfriend, Robert Forry, in the right eye, causing swelling.

Police said the assault occurred at 7:19 p.m.

DUI

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Aaron Keith Brannon, 27, of 809 N. Fourth St., Sunbury, has been charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

The charges relate to a traffic stop at 1:42 a.m. April 13 on Route 61 near Hollow Road in Shamokin Township.

Police said Brannon had a blood-alcohol content of .267 percent.

Burglary

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief have been filed by Trooper Samuel Edwards of state police at Stonington against Donald James Ponatoski, 27, of 1128 W. Gowen St., Coal Township.

Police reported Ponatoski is accused of breaking into two storage garages at 380 Badman Hill Road in Shamokin Township owned by Leonard Adams and stealing copper and steel wire, concrete forms and a copper radiator valued at $347.50. Ponatoski also allegedly caused damage to two padlocks.

DUI offenses

COAL TOWNSHIP - Trooper David Myers of state police at Stonington has charged Joshua Michael Daya, 30, of 134 W. Center St., Apt. 2A, Elysburg, with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, a red light violation, failure to drive in a single lane, depositing waste on highways and careless driving relating to a March 24 incident at the intersection of Routes 61 and 225 in Coal Township.

Police reported Daya had Nordiazepam, Xanax, Benzoylecgonine and Methadone in his blood system.

Retail theft

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Rafael A. Pagan, 26, of Masser Street, Sunbury, was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for retail theft for allegedly stealing merchandise from Kohl's Department Store on Feb. 17 and Tuesday.
