Passenger injured

SNYDERTOWN - The passenger in a one-vehicle accident suffered minor injuries Saturday evening on Market Street (Route 4005), according to state police at Stonington.

Trooper David Townsend reported that Steven R. Cousins, 23, of Sunbury, was driving a 1991 Buick Lesabre north on Route 4005 when he traveled off the roadway to the left and struck a telephone pole.

The vehicle came to final rest partially in the southbound side of the roadway, facing north, police said.

Cousins told police the accelerator was stuck and he lost control of the car.

Passenger Steven W. Cousins, 48, of Sunbury, was reported as having a minor injury, but did not require emergency transportation to a hospital by Elysburg EMS, police said.

Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts, police reported.

Since the accident was a result of possible vehicle failure, police said there would be no citations filed.
