One-car crash

FOSTER TOWNSHIP - An Ashland woman was not injured in a crash at 2:50 p.m. Friday on Interstate 81, at Mile Market 115.3 in Foster Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville say a 2012 Honda Odyssey van, driven by Mary M. Cuthie, 65, was traveling north and rounding a slight right-hand curve when she reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.

The van then crossed over both north lanes and the left shoulder and knocked down six posts and 50 feet of guardrail before the van spun and came to a rest along the road.

Cuthie, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured in the crash, but the Odyssey was severely damaged. Multiple aribags deployed, police said. Cuthie will be cited for a traffic violation, police said.

DUI

SUNBURY - State police at Stonington reported Thomas Lee Treas Jr., 45, of Sunbury, will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance in connection with a Feb. 16 traffic stop at Sixth and Lincoln streets in Sunbury.

Police said Treas was stopped for driving a Chevrolet Blazer with an expired inspection sticker.

Criminal trespass

MOUNT CARMEL - Emilio Timothy Spurgeon, 24, of 307 N. Turnpike St., Mount Carmel, was charged by borough police with criminal trespass/defiant trespasser and harassment relating to a disturbance at 5 p.m. Feb. 5 at 315 N. Turnpike St.

Police reported Spurgeon entered the residence of Walter Brown and allegedly assaulted Brown's stepson, Brandon Rogers, of the same address. Police said Rogers suffered a swollen lip, but did not require medical treatment.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Cpl. David Donkochik has cited William Simpson, 46, of 103 N. Maple St., Mount Carmel, for disorderly conduct involving a disturbance at 1:55 a.m. Feb. 12 at his home.

Police said Simpson played music too loud.

Garbage violation

MOUNT CARMEL - Tiffany D. Mulvehill, 21, of 236 S. Oak St., Apt. 2, Mount Carmel, was cited by Chief of Police Todd Owens for scattering rubbish.

Police said Mulvehill is accused of dumping bags of household waste Feb. 18 in a Dumpster leased to the Dollar General Store, 250 S. Market St.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Belinda Smith, 20, of Railroad Street, Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Kevin Katch for harassment and disorderly conduct for allegedly punching Lisa Aponte, 30, of Rock Street, Shamokin, in the face a couple times at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 20 at Railroad and Maple streets.

After being struck, police said Aponte was thrown to the ground. Police reported Aponte suffered a red mark on her neck, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Amber Eisenhard, 19, of North Locust Street, Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Kevin Katch for retail theft for allegedly stealing a bottle of vitamins valued at $2.99 from the Dollar General Store, 250 S. Market St., at 1:44 p.m. Feb. 20.

Ordinance violations

MOUNT CARMEL - Judith McGinley, 49, of 129 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Code Officer Robin Williams for violating a borough garbage and refuse ordinance.

Williams said McGinley failed to remove 15 bags of refuse and household items that she left in her former rental unit at 325 S. Plum St.

Williams also cited Crystal Wilhelm, 33, of 45 S. Quince St., Mount Carmel, for the same violation.

Wilhelm is accused of failing to remove five bags of refuse, nine tires and household items from the backyard of her residence.
