Arson charges pending

PACKER ISLAND - Arson-related charges are pending against a 46-year-old Sunbury woman who allegedly set a table cloth on fire at 256 Corcyra Road at noon Sunday.

State police at Stonington reported the fire was quickly extinguished by a support staff member who was at the home with the suspect.

Simple assault

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone punched Timothy David Lubold, 45, of 1136 Mandata Road, Herndon, in the face at the Sunoco Station at the intersection of Routes 147 and 225 at 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Lubold suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call state police at 286-5601.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61.

Police reported Jessica Shelbert, 23, of Shamokin, was unloading her shopping cart when a blue Dodge Ram truck backed up and hit her, causing a foot injury.

Shelbert was transported by a family member to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she was treated in the emergency room before being released.

Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Crash

NATALIE - A patch of ice caused a Kulpmont man to crash his vehicle Monday morning on westbound Route 54 in Mount Carmel Township.

Trooper Todd Leiby, state police at Stonington, said Harry N. Weaver, 44, was driving a 2010 Dodge Charger downhill on Natalie Mountain at 7:05 a.m. when he struck the ice patch, causing him to lose control, slide off the roadway and crash into a guide rail.

Weaver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, the trooper said.

He was cited for failing to drive in his lane of travel.
