Burglary

TREVORTON - Zerbe Township Police are investigating a burglary at a Shamokin Street apartment which occurred sometime between August and Jan. 3.

Police Chief Robert John reports several items of jewelry were taken from the apartment of Rob and Jodi Dobson, at 623 W. Shamokin St. The couple does not know how burglars gained access to the home.

Removed from the apartment were an American flag pendant manufactured from the steel from the Twin Towers; a 16- to 18-inch yellow gold necklace with 10 to 15 gold beads in a brown velvet box; a pair of sterling silver open hoop earrings a quarter-inch wide with design; a pair of white gold blue star sapphire stud earrings; an antique size 8 rose gold opal and pearl ring; a size 7 gold ring with a blue sapphire and diamond chips; a blue sapphire shaped stone with diamonds on each side, size 7-8; a blue sapphire small stone, size 7-8, and a size 7-8 antique finish gold ring with a black onyx stone. The exact value of the items is not known, but believed to be more than $700.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Zerbe Township Police at 797-4637.

Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 13-year-old female student at Shamokin Area Middle-High High School has been charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with harassment relating to a disturbance at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 16 at the high school.

Police reported the Shamokin teen attacked another 13-year-old female student from Shamokin by grabbing her by the hair, punching her in the back of the head and cheek, and scratching her face in the hallway before the two were separated by a teacher.

The victim suffered scratch marks on her face, police said.

Vehicle lands on roof

SUNBURY - A 16-year-old Sunbury male and his 14-year-old male passenger from Sunbury escaped injury Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash along Mile Hill Road, approximately one-half mile east of the city.

State police at Stonington, who didn't identify the driver or passenger because they are juveniles, reported the 16-year-old was driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee west at 7:30 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, which crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a small embankment before rolling onto its roof.

Police said the driver will be cited for careless driving.

The vehicle sustained moderate damage.

Abandoned vehicles

SHAMOKIN - City police have cited two vehicle owners for violating the city's abandoned vehicle ordinance by allowing their unregistered vehicles on city streets after they were ticketed.

Justin C. Gall, 36, of Exton, was cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for allowing his Volkswagen and Yamaha motorcycle in the 700 block of East Clay Street. Police said both vehicles had expired registrations and were towed at about noon Friday.

Police said Gall was issued tickets for the violations Jan. 21 and failed to pay them.

Geoffrey A. Koser, 27, of 615 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was cited for the same violation by Patrolman Raymond Siko II relating to an incident at 11:40 p.m. Friday at Independence and Liberty streets.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Angela Leigh Kreski, 44, of 314 S. Coal St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with retail theft for allegedly stealing an assortment of items valued at $33.30 from the Dollar General store, 30 E. Independence St., on Jan. 23.

Weapons charge

COAL TOWNSHIP - Joshua Robert Linn, 18, of 2549 State Route 61, Sunbury, has been charged by Deputy Chief Christopher Williams with possessing a four-inch Gerber folding knife at Shamokin Area Middle-High School on Jan. 25.

Linn, who is a student at the school, was charged with a misdemeanor of possessing a weapon on school property and summary of disorderly conduct.

Police said the incident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m.
