Aggravated assault

ATLAS - Kyle J. Knopp, 20, of 331 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and stalking following an incident at 1:22 a.m. Dec. 2 on West Girard Street.

According to court documents filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell, Knopp allegedly arrived at a residence and asked to speak outside with a minor male living there. While the two were outside, Knopp allegedly struck the juvenile several times with his fists and kicked him in the head. Witnesses said the minor was unconscious for approximately three minutes as a result, according to police.

The suspect was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.

DUI

ATLAS - Timothy J. Ramph, 37, of 1343 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged with driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs, reckless driving and careless driving following an accident at the community park at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 16.

Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell filed the charges with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel after Ramph allegedly refused to submit to a chemical blood test. A preliminary hearing before Jones is scheduled for Feb. 13.

Charges waived

KULPMONT - Adam Gondol, 39, of 128 N. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled substance, misbranding of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia during his preliminary hearing Dec. 19 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel.

Gondol was arrested in a Dec. 14 drug bust by members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force on charges filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman David Stamets Jr. following a Sept. 12 incident.

He was ordered to appear in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, on Feb. 25, for plea court, where he can either plead guilty or no contest, or plead not guilty and request a trial.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police charged Jeremy S. Sala, 21, of 312 W. Fourth St., with driving under the influence, driving under the combined influence of alcohol and a drug or a combination of drugs and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Patrolman Shane Reamer filed the charges with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel following an investigation into a Nov. 11 traffic stop at Fourth and Hickory streets.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 13 before Jones.
