Tires slashed

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police reported a tire was slashed on a 2001 silver Chevrolet truck between 11 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday while the truck was parked in the 1500 block of West Arch Street.

Anyone with information is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Fire company cited

MARION HEIGHTS - The Pennsylvania State Police's Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited the Marion Heights Fire Company on Jan. 10 for a gambling violation. According to a press release, the violation was found Nov. 18 and the fire company either possessed or operated gambling devices or paraphernalia, or permitted gambling or lotteries, poolselling and/or bookmaking on the licensed premises.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge, who will impose the penalty.

Scam

COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township police issued a warning Monday to area residents to be aware of a scam involving checks from an account supposedly associated with the World Baton Twirling Federation for items purchased on Internet auction sites.

Police said anyone who receives checks from World Baton Twirling Federation should check the validity of the checks before sending items.

Drug, theft charges

SHAMOKIN - Dustin J. Keefer, 24, of 135 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with theft and drug-related offenses involving incidents that occurred in March.

Keefer is charged with possession with intent to deliver Clonazepam, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of drug paraphernalia, adulterating or misbranding a controlled substance, making false reports to incriminate another person, disorderly conduct and retail theft.

Police said Keefer is accused of possessing 44 Clonazepam tablets and a hyperdermic needle, falsely identifying himself and stealing a cupcake and bag of chips March 10 from the former Uni-Mart on East Sunbury Street.

He also is charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle involving the March 13 theft of a 1996 white Subaru stationwagon owned by Robert Ferrick from 214 E. Sunbury St.
