2-vehicle accident

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:43 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Pulaski Avenue.

Coal Township Police reported a vehicle driven by Justin Wyland, 26, of 1021 E. Packer St., Shamokin, was traveling down a snow-covered hill when the vehicle began to slide, hitting the rear end of a parked vehicle owned by Linda Benson, 64, of 1619 Pulaski Ave.

Benson's vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Assault

COAL TOWNSHIP - Aaron Bressi, 32, and Kimberly Ricket, 25, both of 1727 Pulaski Ave., were charged with simple assault and harassment following a 5:30 p.m. Wednesday domestic altercation between the two in their home. Police said both individuals hit each other, causing minor injuries.

Both were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, and released on their own recognizance, pending a preliminary hearing.

1-vehicle accident

COAL TOWNSHIP - A Kulpmont woman was not injured in a crash on Route 61 in the area of the Wal-Mart SuperCenter at 7 p.m. Monday.

Coal Township Police said a vehicle, driven by Lisa Switzer, 52, of 1300 Scott St., Kulpmont, was traveling north on Route 61 and passed the Wal-Mart entrance. As she traveled down the snow-covered hill, she lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle slid off the northbound lane and struck an embankment, resulting in moderate damage.

No injuries

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two vehicles were damaged in an accident at 8:15 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Sheridan Street and Pulaski Avenue.

Coal Township Police say Matthew Stevens, 26, of 311 S. Seventh St., Shamokin, was traveling down a snow-covered hill on Sheridan Street. As he passed the intersection with Pulaski Avenue, he lost control and struck the front of a parked vehicle, owned by Timothy Forry Jr., 35, of 113 B. Market St., Halifax.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but were able to be driven from the scene. No one was injured.

Rollover on Route 225

LITTLE MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - A young passenger was injured in a rollover crash at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday on Route 225 near the Zerbe Township-Little Mahanoy Township line.

State police at Stonington report a 2006 Kia Spectra, driven by Jennifer L. Smith, 31, of Trevorton, was traveling north on Route 225 when she lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered roadway and exited the west berm, impacting a guard rail and overturning on the berm.

A six-year-old male passenger was treated for a minor injury at the scene. Smith was not injured. Police cited Smith for a traffic violation.
