Car strikes deer
SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash involving a deer along Route 61 near Costa Road at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
State police at Stonington said a 2002 Ford Escort, driven by Diane M. Gearhart, 41, of Milton, was traveling east on Route 61 near the state police barracks when her vehicle struck a deer. Gearhart then brought the Escort to a controlled stop in the barracks parking lot.
Gearhart wasn't injured, but the vehicle sustained disabling damage to the front fender and hood area.
Money stolen
LYKENS - Troy J. Lippincott, 24, of Dalmatia, was charged by state police at Lykens with criminal attempt of theft from a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle and loitering and prowling at night following an incident on South Second Street in this Dauphin County community.
Police said Lippincott allegedly entered two pickup trucks on the property of Chester L. Hubler Jr., of Lykens, sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and 12:30 a.m. Monday and removed $5 in change. Police arrested the Dalmatia man after his cell phone was found in the one vehicles.
DUI
ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Nicholas Harold Neff, 59, of 748 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was charged by Trooper Mark Adams of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving relating to a Nov. 16 accident on Route 890.
Police said Neff had a blood-alcohol content of .245 percent.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - Patricia A. Zimmerman, 21, of 129 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with retail theft for allegedly stealing merchandise, including food, DVDs and makeup, valued at $75.04 from Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61 on Oct. 19.
