Bad checks

SUNBURY - Shelly Cavotta, of 508 W. Pine St., Shamokin, has been charged by Trooper Todd Leiby of state police at Stonington with theft by deception and issuing bad checks.

Police reported Cavotta issued two bad checks to Brett Russell, of Mile Hill Road, Sunbury, from a closed account in the amount of $1,267.50 for rent payment Aug. 1.

Two escape injury

RYAN TOWNSHIP - Two people, including a Coal Township man, escaped injury in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning at the intersection of Hillside Drive and State Road in this Schuylkill County township.

State police at Frackville reported Jared Shiko, 29, of Coal Township, was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta south on Hillside Drive at 4:35 a.m. when he allegedly fell asleep. The car he was driving hit the front of a 2012 Toyota Tundra operated by John Gutsie, 48, of Barnesville, who was just turning onto Hillside Drive.

Shiko's auto sustained heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene. The Tundra sustained minor front-end damage.

Driving under suspension

M0UNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Peter L. Stanish III, 50, of Parkerford, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with being a habitual offender for driving under suspension and speeding relating to an Aug. 8 incident at the intersection of Route 901 and Main Street in Locust Gap.

Criminal trespass

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Robert Allan Broadt, 42, of Atlas, has been charged by Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush with two counts of criminal trespass and one count of harassment involving a disturbance at his former residence at 8:46 a.m. Wednesday.

Police reported Broadt, who allegedly was intoxicated, trespassed at 302 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas, and harassed Cindy Berkoski.

DUI

KULPMONT - Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed by Patrolman Cade Holden against Ashley Rose Kruleski, 29, of 640 Chestnut St., Apt., Kulpmont, in connection with a June 4 incident at Turkey Hill Minit Mart on Chestnut Street.

Police said Kruleski was found sleeping behind the wheel of her car with her 4-year-old daughter sleeping in the back seat at 12:20 a.m. Police said Kruleski was found with Delta-9 Carboxy THC, methadone and EDDP in her blood system. Police also found numerous empty containers of bath salts and drug paraphernalia in her vehicle.

Kruleski waived the charges to court during a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Skylar Dornsife, 18, of 615 E. Webster St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman William Miner with simple assault, probable cause for domestic violence and harassment relating to a Sept. 29 disturbance.

According to a criminal complaint, Dornsife is accused of punching her mother, Kim Dornsife, in the face and breaking her glasses at their residence at 615 E. Webster St. at 8:21 p.m.

Terroristic threats

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman David Stamets Jr. has charged Jason G. Odorizzi, 29, of 23 Back St., Dooleyville, with terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving and harassment.

Police reported Odorizzi ran Katie Toolen and Michael McKenna off the road near the "S" curve along Route 901 in Locust Gap at 3:22 p.m. Sept. 1, and also threw punches at McKenna and Toolen before throwing Toolen into the brush on the side of the road.

Police said Odorizzi is Toolen's former boyfriend.

Odorizzi waived the charges to court Wednesday at a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

DUI

KULPMONT - Patrolman Cade Holden has charged Jeremy P. Fisher, 31, of 908 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, Kulpmont, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension and a red light violation relating to a July 1 traffic stop at Sixth and Chestnut streets.

Police reported Fisher had a blood-alcohol content of .195 percent.

Multiple offenses

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Seandavid C. Gould, 29, of Saint Clair, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with two counts of altering or forging documents and plates, violating the use of an inspection certificate, operating a vehicle without proper inspection, failure to sign his name on his registration card and careless driving.

Police said the charges relate to a July 2 incident on Route 901 between Boylan's Garage and Excelsior.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Justin Stelma has charged Stephen P. Miller Jr., 26, of 243 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, with theft, receiving stolen property, driving under suspension and unauthorized use of a vehicle involving incidents that occurred between Aug. 24 and Aug. 25.

Miller is accused of stealing a 1998 Buick owned by Heather Heim from the 200 block of West Avenue.

Theft by deception

KULPMONT - Nicholas C. Elliott, 19, of 1240 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Joshua Pastucka with receiving stolen property, theft by deception, criminal solicitation and corruption of minors involving incidents that occurred between June 10 and June 15.

Police said Elliott is accused of convincing a juvenile to steal five rings from his home on Scott Street. Police said Elliott received money for the rings at a local jewelry business.

Elliott waived the charges to court Wednesday at a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.
