Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Emilio T. Spurgeon, 26, of 307 N. Turnpike St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to an Aug. 17 incident at his home.

DUI charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Ryan J. Little, 18, of 144 Horvath Drive, Elysburg, has been charged by Patrolman David Tomtishen with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding involving an Aug. 15 incident at the intersection of Route 61 and School Street at Strong.

Police said Little, who was traveling at 56 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone, was driving under the influence of synthetic marijuana.

Multiple charges

MOUNT CARMEL - George L. Stankiewicz, 40, of 9 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with criminal attempt to commit burglary, criminal attempt to commit criminal trespass, stalking, loitering and prowling at night, invasion of privacy, disorderly conduct and harassment.

The charges relate to an Aug. 31 late-night disturbance in which Stankiewicz was observed on the roof of a residence at 13 S. Walnut St. Police said Stankiewicz attempted to enter the home occupied by Jordann Bridy and her small child, who were alarmed by the incident.

Hinders apprehension

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Candace M. Bucher, 31, of 409 E. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with hindering apprehension, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a July 26 incident on Route 54 between the former Boylan's garage and Brennan's Farm Road.

Police said Bucher was a passenger on an ATV operated by an unidentified male that was stopped by Campbell. Police said the driver fled into a wooded area and Bucher refused to identify him. Police reported the ATV was stolen from David Lamb, of North Vine Street, Mount Carmel.

Police found three syringes and two glass smoking devices on Bucher's possession.

An investigation is continuing.

Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman charged Bucher with possession of drug paraphernalia in an unrelated Aug. 20 incident at Poplar and Cherry streets in which she was found with two blue glassine heroin bags.

Four complaints

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police have filed four criminal complaints involving theft and drug charges against Joseph C. Shoup, 31, of 222 Ogden St., Girardville.

Shoup is charged by Police Chief Todd Owens with two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property in connection with vehicle break-ins July 24 and July 25 in the 100 and 200 blocks of South Locust Street.

He also is charged by Patrolman William Adamski with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, misbranding a controlled substance, retail theft and public drunkenness relating to a July 25 incident at Turkey Hill Minit Market, 130 E. Fifth St., in which he allegedly stole multiple items from the store.

Adamski also charged Shoup with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana involving a July 26 incident in the 500 block of East Fifth Street.

Court matters

SUNBURY - Scott Cronce was sentenced Thursday by President Judge William H. Wiest to 27 to 72 months in a state correctional facility and to pay fines totaling $1,250 on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin and one count of DUI in two cases.

Kevin Romine pleaded guilty to harassment Thursday and was sentenced by Wiest to 45 days in Northumberland County Prison.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was filed by borough police against Joseph Rodney McClain-Broden, 26, of 215 E. Saylor St., Atlas.

McClain-Broden is accused of possessing a smoking pipe at 36 N. Vine St. Aug. 29.
