Pills sold
MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police charged Deborah J. Dickman, 45, of 213 E. Buick St., with eight counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance following an investigation into her sale of her prescription pain medication.
Police Cpl. David Donkochik reported in court documents that on July 7, they received information from Dickman's boyfriend that she recently got her prescription filled for hydrocodone and was actively selling the pills to other individuals.
When confronted with the information, Dickman allegedly admitted making the sale, selling the pills for $3 to $4 each.
Dickman was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and placed in prison on $15,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing on the case is set for Sept. 30 before Jones.
Aggravated assault
KULPMONT - A borough woman who became belligerent with police and her family was placed in prison on charges of aggravated assault after going after police.
Kulpmont Police Patrolman David Tomtishen reported they were called to a Chestnut Street residence at 1:31 a.m. Saturday for a domestic argument. While officers were speaking with a man at the scene, Georgette Olear, 45, of 705 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, allegedly in a highly intoxicated state, began yelling at the man. Police took Olear into custody. At the station, Olear slipped out of her cuffs, but refused commands to get out of the police vehicle, causing officers to use force to get her out. Police cited her for public drunkenness.
When police took her back home, Olear continued to threaten the male, and an officer and a constable took her into custody again.
Olear resisted and continued to flail her arms and kick her legs. The constable was kicked in the groin.
She was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and placed in prison on $15,000 bail. Olear waived her right to a preliminary hearing Sept. 9 and will face a formal arraignment in Northumberland County Court Oct. 13, where she can either plead guilty or no contest, or plead not guilty and seek a trial.
Hit and run
COAL TOWNSHIP - Donald Smith Jr., 47, of 1006 Centre St., Ashland, was cited for a hit-and-run crash at 3:14 a.m. Tuesday, in the area of Tioga Street, just west of Route 901.
Township police say Smith allegedly struck a guide rail with his vehicle, which became stuck on the guide rail, partially on the roadway. Smith then fled the area on foot.
The vehicle had to be towed from the scene and the guide rail was damaged.
Disorderly conduct
SHAMOKIN - Justin Fisher, 24, of 909 N. Vine St., and Fabian Roque, 34, of 911 N. Vine St., were cited for disorderly conduct after the two threatened each other during a verbal argument at their residences at 6:46 p.m. Tuesday.
Drug charges filed
MARION HEIGHTS - David R. Dietz, 26, of 455 Madrid Ave., Bloomsburg, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness, after being involved in a medical emergency in Marion Heights at 3:40 p.m. Aug. 17.
Mount Carmel Township Police Officer Kelly Campbell reported in court documents that Dietz needed medical attention in his vehicle, which was parked at a business at Park Avenue.
Police obtained a search warrant for Deitz's vehicle, where they found heroin, Xanax and assorted items of drug paraphernalia.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel with a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 30 before Jones.
Public drunkenness
SHAMOKIN - Police cited John Valenskie, 38, of 1654 W. Wood St., Coal Township, for public drunkenness after being allegedly found intoxicated at Independence and Cleaver streets at 11:33 p.m. Tuesday.
Drug charges
MOUNT CARMEL - Tracy Hughes, 48, of 1500 Walnut St., was charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence after the investigation into a traffic stop July 3 on Route 61 at Harmony Road.
Hughes was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a cracked windshield. As police were speaking to the driver, an officer saw a blue capsule on the floor of the vehicle. Police took both occupants into custody.
As Hughes was being escorted out of the vehicle, a glass smoking pipe fell from her person. At the station, another officer found another pipe and a container which held bath salts and the drug "Molly" in it. Borough police chief Todd Owens said in court documents that Hughes was the only individual to ride in that section of the car after it was checked by other officers.
Hughes was arraigned Wednesday on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel and placed in prison on $20,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 16.
Crash
LIMESTONE TOWNSHIP - State police in Milton reported Michael G. Moser, 62, of Catawissa, suffered a minor injury when he crashed his 2000 Volkswagen Jetta along Route 45 at around 3 p.m. Monday.
Police said Moser was distracted and traveled into the eastbound lane. He overcorrected and veered from the north side of the roadway, striking a telephone pole and rolling his vehicle onto its roof, police said.
Trespassing
COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Joshua M. Wynn cited Nicholas Dalesandro, 18, of 203 Watershed Road, Klingerstown, with defiant trespass.
Wynn said Dalesandro was found operating a Jeep and an ATV on Anthracite outdoor Adventure Area property Aug. 30 and 31.
Crash
COAL TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported in a two-car accident that occurred on Route 61 at the Walmart intersection.
Police said Renee Smedley, 24, of 247 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, was attempting to turn into Walmart in a 2000 Dodge Calibur, when she was struck in the passenger side by a 2015 GMC Terrain driven by Aaron Walter, 32, of 1308 Poplar St., Kulpmont.
Smedley's vehicle sustained moderate damage on the passenger side, and Walter's vehicle sustained moderate damage to the passenger side front bumper, police said. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Drug paraphernalia
MOUNT CAMREL - Lt. Christopher Buhay charged Robert Jude Kaminski, 23, of 30 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia for an Aug. 30 incident.
Buhay said while performing a welfare check on Kaminski requested by the co-owner of his home, numerous items of drug paraphernalia including syringes, cooking equipment and straws were discovered in the bedroom.
Trespass, drugs
MOUNT CARMEL - Matthew Scott Moyer, 20, of 710 E. Fifth St., P.O. Box 346, Boyertown, was charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with criminal trespassing, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
Campbell said shortly before 2:30 Aug. 23, he found several young males including Moyer in a gated area known as "the slopes" off Route 901. He said he saw Moyer smoking a marijuana cigarette, which Moyer turned over to him along with a small amount of marijuana in a Ziploc bag.
Campbell said Moyer said he had a permit to ride on Reading Anthracite Company land. That permit did not allow drug use on the property, and Campbell informed Moyer of this.
