DUI
COAL TOWNSHIP - Police cited Brian Keith Shawda, 31, of 4045 Route 61, Sunbury, with several counts of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving in connection with a crash he was involved in around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 3 on Route 61 near East End Auto.
Shawda was ejected from his car during the rollover crash and was taken by LifeFlight to Geisinger Medical Center. He was hospitalized for at least a week.
Simple assault
COAL TOWNSHIP - Louis Baez, 24, of 69 S. Oak St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with simple assault and harassment for an incident that occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Yoder said Baez and his mother, Andrea Baez, with whom he lived, became involved in an argument. Baez slammed a door into her face, causing a bleeding cut above and below her eye as well as bruising and swelling, Yoder said. She was taken by ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for further evaluation.
Baez was video-arraigned and incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Crash
BUTLER TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported when two vehicles collided on Fairgrounds Road in Butler Township around 9:30 a.m. Friday.
State police in Frackville said Mary L. Bauman, 48, of Sunbury, slowed to make a left turn in her 2004 Chevrolet Blazer when she was struck from behind by a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Michael Chickersky, 76, of Ashland.
Chickersky's vehicle was towed from the scene.
Liquor license violation
MOUNT CARMEL - Willow Cafe and Restaurant, also known as Mattucci's Willow Cafe, was cited by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for selling liquor or malt beverages without a license on multiple occasions between April 1 and 28.
According to the bureau, the restaurant's liquor license had expired March 31 and had not been renewed.
