Run-away vehicle
COAL TOWNSHIP - A woman suffered a minor injury after attempting to stop her runaway vehicle about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Rhonda Zagata, 38, of 843 W. Wood St., injured her arm after attempting to stop her 2001 Chevorlet Malibu that she failed to put completely in park while parking in front of her home, according to Coal Township police. Zagata attempted to jump into the vehicle, but she got her arm stuck, causing the vehicle to drag her. The vehicle then struck a parked vehicle, owned by Marianna Persing, of 483 S. Shamokin St., then careened into a large tree. Both vehicles had minor damage.
Public drunkenness
MOUNT CARMEL - Christopher R. Schultz, 27, of 236 S. Poplar St., was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found in a highly intoxicated state and lying in the street in the 00 block of South Vine Street at 5:50 a.m. June 27.
Underage drinking
SHAMOKIN - A 17-year-old Coal Township male was cited for disorderly conduct, underage drinking and public drunkenness by Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. Police say he was discovered in near Sunbury and Franklin streets in an intoxicated state with several cans of beer at 6:16 a.m. June 20. The teen is accused of using obscenities toward police while taken into custody.
Vandalism
MOUNT CARMEL - Two 13-year-old Mount Carmel females were cited by Patrolman William Adamski for criminal mischief. The girls allegedly damaged flower beds along Oak Street between 2 and 3:30 a.m. June 6.
Disorderly conduct
SHAMOKIN - John R. Valenskie, 37, of 325 E. Water St., was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Police say Valenskie was discovered intoxicated on a porch at 410 N. Rock St. at 12:33 a.m. July 9, and was in possession of a bottle of whiskey. Valenskie allegedly took a ladder from a garage and placed it on the roof of the home to try to get inside.
Harassment at store
MOUNT CARMEL - Police cited Thomas Crumlic, 55, of 414 S. Market St., with public drunkenness and harassment following a disturbance at 3:30 p.m. June 20 at the Puff's Tobacco Store on South Oak Street.
Harassment
SHAMOKIN - Jennifer Aston, 43, of 1132 Tharp St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for harassment. She allegedly struck a man twice with a closed fist during an altercation on Walnut Street at 3:35 a.m. May 31.
Disorderly conduct
MOUNT CARMEL - Theresa L. Karim, 55, of 221 S. Oak St., was cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with disorderly conduct after an alleged disturbance at her residence at 12:30 a.m. July 4.
Fight in home
SHAMOKIN - Leon Fite, 32, of 250 S. Wood St., and Allen Derk, 48, of 244 S. Wood St., were both cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for an alleged altercation at 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Police allege Fite slapped and pushed Derk inside Derk's home and then refused to leave. Derk allegedly struck Fite in the face.
Both men were cited for disorderly conduct while Fite also was cited for harassment after he allegedly yelled in the street and refused to leave the area after police ordered him to do so.
Two cited in fight
MOUNT CARMEL - Police cited Tara L. Brabitz, 41, of 624 Hillside Ave., Shamokin, and Shawn J. Matukaitis, 39, of 40 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, for harassment for an alleged disturbance at Matukaitis's home at 3:30 a.m. July 6.
Disorderly conduct
SHAMOKIN - Daniel Vercruyssen, 36, of 311 S. Shamokin St., was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for disorderly conduct after allegedly ripping a woman's shirt during an altercation at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Shamokin Street.
Underage drinking
MOUNT CARMEL - Cody J. Little, 18, of 154 Montana Drive, Kulpmont, was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller for underage drinking following a traffic stop at 1:45 a.m. July 11 in the 00 block of North Oak Street.
DUI
STRONG - Dustin J. Murray, 19, of 505 E. Melrose St., Marion Heights, is charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and a summary traffic violation, driving on roadways laned for traffic.
Police say Murray was driving a 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse at 12:19 a.m. May 23 when the vehicle was allegedly observed swerving in the northbound lanes of Route 61. A vehicle stop was initiated near the Kulpmont borough line.
Murray allegedly failed field sobriety testing, and blood testing found marijuana in his system, according to a criminal complaint. Two methadone tablets, a glass jar with suspected marijuana residue and a crushed aluminum can allegedly used as a smoking device were discovered in his car, police said.
After Murray was remanded to Montour County Prison, Danville, a subsequent search of the police vehicle turned up a bag of marijuana and a marijuana cigarette, police said.
Urine charge
MOUNT CARMEL - Heather Ann Frank, 30, of 331 N. Vine St., is charged by Chief Todd Owens with furnishing drug-free urine and tampering with physical evidence. Parole agents told police Frank attempted to submit a false urine sample during a home visit at 7 a.m. June 25.
DUI arrest
MOUNT CARMEL - Brian G. Madden, 31, of 255 W. Saylor St., is charged by Patrolman William Adamski with two counts of driving under the influence and a summary charge of careless driving.
Police say Madden was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am that was stopped in the intersection of Second and Oak streets at 2:17 p.m. May 11. A witness reportedly took the keys from the vehicle's ignition along with Madden's wallet, and reports say Madden and a passenger were each passed out.
Madden failed field sobriety testing, police said. Blood testing found marijuana in his system, according to a criminal complaint.
Food theft
KULPMONT - Stephanie Lynn Marlow, 29, of 1333 Scott St., is charged by Chief Michael Pitcavage with retail theft. She's accused of stealing $15.75 in food from Turkey Hill, 862 Chestnut St., at 1:55 p.m. July 2.
Pot charges
MOUNT CARMEL - Abbigail Lee Seritsky, 18, of 916 Centre St., Ashland, is charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Seritsky was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at 10:19 p.m. March 13 following a traffic light violation at Third and Oak streets, according to a criminal complaint. Police say she possessed a glass smoking pipe, a marijuana grinder and less than one gram of marijuana inside her purse.
