Assault charge

SHAMOKIN - David A. Demarco, 25, of 429 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, is charged by Chief Darwin Tobias III with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. Demarco is accused of slapping a woman before grabbing her throat and pulling her hair at 9:51 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of North Vine Street. Police said Demarco threatened to kill the accuser, who reportedly suffered visible injury to her throat and left arm.

Lewd remarks

COAL TOWNSHIP - Robert Montefusco, 47, of 508 E. Spurzheim St., Shamokin, is charged by Cpl. Terry Ketchem with harassment for allegedly making lewd remarks to a woman at The Shepherd's Table soup kitchen, Oak and Chestnut streets, at 5:20 p.m. Thursday.

DUI crash

SHAMOKIN - Jennifer Ryder, 24, of 32 Sherman St., Coal Township, is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a summary charge of accidents involving damage to unattended property. Police said Ryder was intoxicated when she crashed a sport utility vehicle into a parked car in the 400 block of South Shamokin Street at 3:12 a.m. June 19. Open container of beer and alcohol were found inside the SUV, police said. Ryder exhibited physical signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety testing, police said. Her blood alcohol content was 0.205 percent, according to a criminal complaint.

Drug counts

SHAMOKIN - Cody Z. Horne, 20, of 221 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Horne is accused of possessing suboxone without a prescription and also possessing small plastic baggies, a spoon with cocaine residue and a homemade pipe allegedly used to smoke crack cocaine. The incident occurred at 8:14 p.m. June 16 during a visit to his home by county probation officers.

Underage, rubbish

SHAMOKIN - Darcey Swift, 18, of 109 W. Commerce St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for underage drinking. Dylan Sessions, 21, of 332 S. Seventh St., Shamokin, was cited for scattering rubbish in the same incident. The two were discovered in a wooded area near Rock and Spruce streets at 12:12 a.m. Tuesday. Police said Sessions admitted to scattering beer cans and glass bottles in the area, where a concrete staircase leads from Gold Street on Academy Hill to Rock Street.

Punch to face

SHAMOKIN - Joyce A. Reitz, 45, of 3821 Schwaben Creek Road, Rebuck, was cited by Patrolman William Zalinski for harassment after allegedly striking a 23-year-old man in the face in the 500 block of North Market Street at 5:39 p.m. June 28. The accuser suffered a cut to his lower lip, police said.

Dog at large

SHAMOKIN - Kelly M. Haines, 34, of 418 E. Cameron St., was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for a dog ordinance violation at 11:20 p.m. Saturday. Police said Haines allowed her dog to run at large. The canine was allegedly observed in the streets, on neighboring porches and chasing other animals.

Public intoxication

SHAMOKIN - Three area residents were cited for public drunkenness stemming from separate incidents.

Kristin L. McCormick, of 41, of 1411 W. State St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Mark Costa. She was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when she was observed at Shamokin and Shakespeare streets at 2 p.m. Friday.

Jeffery Barber, 21, of 77 Raspberry Hill, Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. He was allegedly passed out while lying on a path between the Patsy Steps and Terrace Avenue at 6:01 p.m. July 3.

Corey Feese, 25, of 530 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when observed in the 200 block of South Pearl Street at 4:18 a.m. June 20.

Obscene language

SHAMOKIN - Christopher L. Pielacha, 29, of 5521 Upper Road, Helfenstein, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for disorderly conduct. Pielacha is accused of screaming obscenities at a juvenile female and her father while at the rear of the 800 block of North Sixth Street at 11:38 p.m. July 4.

Guilty plea

SHAMOKIN - Mark Carnuccio, 42, of Coal Township, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a charge of summary harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic to pay a $200 fine plus court costs. A charge of simple assault was withdrawn. Carnuccio was released from jail, where he had been held since his arrest June 17.

False reports

SHAMOKIN - Calye Goldman, 26, of 107 Nottingham Drive, Elysburg, is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with false reports. Police said Goldman initially reported on July 11 her grandmother's vehicle was damaged by a hit-and-run driver. She provided verbal and written statements to police before allegedly confessing that she lent it to a friend who reportedly caused the damage.

Shawn Wondoloski, of 450 S. Shamokin St., reported to police that his vehicle and trailer was damaged by a hit-and-run driver on July 11, and provided vehicle information matching Goldman's grandmother's vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.

Pot charge

SHAMOKIN - Curtis Groom, 26, of 1006 N. Orange St., Shamokin, is charged by Patrolman Shane Mowery with possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness. Police said Groom admitted to being intoxicated when he was discovered at 9:22 p.m. June 19 at Market and Willow streets looking in a parked vehicle. He's accused of possessing a small cigar containing marijuana.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Marcie Anne Howerter, 34, of 338 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, is charged by Patrolman Jason Adams with retail theft for allegedly attempting to steal $73.49 in clothing and accessories from Walmart Supercenter at 4:58 p.m. June 27.

Curfew violation

SHAMOKIN - Two city males ages 16 and 15 were cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for curfew violations after they were observed near Water and Cleaver streets at 2:12 a.m. Friday.

Crash charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Thomas A. Reed, 42, of 918 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, is charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and counts of driving with a suspended license related to DUI and careless driving. Police said Reed was intoxicated when he rear-ended another vehicle at Route 61 at Hospital Road at 7:51 p.m. June 21. He exhibited physical signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety testing, police said. His blood alcohol content was found to be 0.124 percent, according to a criminal complaint.
