Burglary
COAL TOWNSHIP - A 12-year-old Shamokin male was charged with burglary, criminal trespass and theft by Coal Township Police after allegedly being caught stealing property inside 850 W. Independence St. at noon May 2. The charges were filed in Northumberland County Juvenile Court.
Cables stolen
ZERBE TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington report a 28-year-old Coal Township will be charged with theft from a motor vehicle, and trespassing after a theft at the coal stripping off of Route 2044 in Zerbe Township at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police report the male, whose identity is known to police, went onto private property and got into an unlocked vehicle owned by Fox Coal Company, Mount Carmel. The burglar removed a gas can and a pair of jumper cables from the scene.
PFA violation
LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington say a 38-year-old known male from Bloomsburg will be charged with a Protection from Abuse violation after an incident at 861 Riland Road at 6:25 a.m. Saturday.
Police say the male drove onto the property where a 35-year-old female from Sunbury lives and removed a trailer from the area. Five minutes later, the male drove another vehicle onto the property and threw junk mail out the window and left the scene.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest through the office of Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, of Sunbury.
Drug paraphernalia
SHAMOKIN - Austin A. Barry, 18, of Shamokin, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop by state police at Stonington at 7:46 p.m. Sunday in the area of Lincoln and Liberty streets.
Police report an investigation showed that Barry was wanted in Schuylkill County, but a report did not give any indication if he was taken into custody.
Burglary
KULPMONT - Joseph Staskiel, 22, of Kulpmont, was charged with burglary and related offenses following a break-in of a Scott Street residence at 11:05 p.m. Saturday
State police at Stonington report that Staskiel allegedly entered the residence through the back door by force, but was found and apprehended inside the residence.
He was arraigned at the state police station on charges of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief, and placed in Snyder County Prison on $20,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.
Public drunkenness
SHAMOKIN - Brian Petrovich, 37, of 34 N. Second St., was cited by city police Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for public drunkenness after being found under the influence of alcohol and lying next to a tree in the area of Sixth and Arch streets at 12:26 a.m. Saturday.
Hit and run crash
RIVERSIDE - Police are looking for the driver that caused a crash at 4 p.m. June 5 on Sunbury Road near the intersection with Avenue G.
State police at Stonington say an unknown vehicle was traveling east on Sunbury Road when it struck a 2012 Ford Focus, driven by Melissa A. Carper, 23, of Danville. The unknown vehicle then continued to travel on Sunbury Road after striking Carper's vehicle. The victim then turned around and went back to her residence.
No one was injured and Carper said that it was a blue-colored vehicle with an unknown registration.
Criminal trespass
ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Kyle Mirolli, 33, of Shamokin, was cited for criminal trespass after an incident at 10:30 p.m. June 4 at a residence at 1020 W. Market St.
State police at Stonington say Mirolli allegedly pushed an air conditioning window unit into the residence, then entered through the window. Mirolli then started to yell at Mindy Wynn, 35, of Trevorton, and went through the house before fleeing the scene.
The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Hit and run
SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are searching for a driver that damaged three vehicles on Route 61 in Shamokin Township at 8:15 p.m. June 3.
Police said the vehicle, described as a tractor towing a Great Dane trailer, was attempting to negotiate a right hand turn from the intersection with Route 487 to Route 61 when the vehicle sideswiped a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox, a 2009 Ford Escape and a 2009 Hyundai Accent. A witness identified a registration of 5803KH, but was unable to identify the state the plate was from.
