ATV rider hurt

BURNSIDE - A Palmyra man was injured in an accident at the Anthracite Outdoor Adventure (AOAA) Area Friday afternoon.

AOAA operations director David Porzi said Gary Shuey, 54, was riding a Polaris ATV down a rocky trail when the vehicle flipped and landed on him. Shuey was up and walking when AOAA personnel arrived at the scene, Porzi said, but it's believed he suffered a broken collarbone.

The accident occurred about 3:30 p.m. south of Excelsior.

Shuey was taken back to the welcome center along Route 125 near Burnside, from where AREA Ambulance transported him to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Shuey was wearing proper gear, including a helmet, Porzi said.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Eric A. Zlotorzynski, 37, of 225 S. Fourth St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with retail theft for allegedly stealing $67.48 worth of merchandise from Walmart Supercenter April 22.

Woman in crash

PENN TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:13 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Route 204 and Fair Oak Road, in Penn Township, Snyder County.

State police at Selinsgrove say a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Marcy A. Morre, 55, of Shamokin, was stopped in the north lane of Route 204 waiting to turn left onto Fair Oak Road when a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Jessica Lawton, 19, of Winfield, struck her from behind.

No one was injured in the crash and both vehicles suffered minor damage. Police cited Lawton in the crash.

Marijuana charge

COAL TOWNSHIP - Lakisha Michelle Jackson, 24, of Philadelphia, was charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with possession of a small amount of marijuana relating to an April 26 incident in the parking lot at SCI-Coal Township.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Shane Mowery has charged Brandon Thew, 22, of 612 Bear Valley Ave., Shamokin, with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a May 19 incident at his home.

Police reported Thew possessed two needles, a burnt spoon, razor blade, cotton balls and a large number of empty blue wax paper packets commonly used to package heroin.

Retail theft

MONROE TOWNSHIP - State police charged Nicole M. Koss, 29, of Danville, with retail theft and receiving stolen property after she allegedly removed $850.20 worth of item from the Target department store in the Monroe Marketplace at 7:30 p.m. May 30.

Pump missing

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP - The PennDOT maintentence department in Montour County reported to state police at Milton a hydraulic post pump, valued at $2,500, was lost along the highway at the intersection of Route 45 and 642 in Liberty Township at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Bridget Ann O'Connell, 33, of 4 N. Marshall St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Shane Mowery with simple assault and harassment involving an April 24 disturbance at 615 E. Webster St.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, O'Connell punched Kim Dornsife in the face, causing her mouth to bleed.

Retail theft

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Sean Thomas Reichner, 18, of Coal Township, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with retail theft after allegedly stealing three shirts and a pair of shorts, valued at $74.97. from the Kohl's department store in the Monroe Marketplace. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John H. Reed, of Selinsgrove.
