Robbed at knifepoint
MONROE TOWNSHIP - State police at Selinsgrove continue to investigate a robbery at 1:15 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of the former Value City department store, along Routes 11 and 15 in this Snyder County township.
Police say the victim, an 18-year-old Sunbury male not identified by police, was robbed at knife point, after cashing a paycheck at the nearby Wal-Mart department store. The robber, described as a black male, approximately six feet tall with facial hair, wearing a black hoodie and jeans, got away with $130 in cash. Police believe there were two other suspects with the robber, and all three fled the scene in a vehicle.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Trooper Nathan Wetzel at the Selinsgrove barracks at 374-8145 and reference incident F07-1151428.
Sobriety checkpoint
The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group and the Coal Township Police Department have announced roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints will be conducted during the period of Aug. 25 and Sept. 9 on Routes 61, 125, 225, 54, 487, 901 and 147 or other connecting roadway to municipalities.
Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by dialing 911. To report underage drinking, call (888) under-21. The roving patrols and checkpoints are funded through PennDOT and the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Scattering rubbish
COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here have cited two individuals for scattering rubbish.
Holly Madden, 21, of 101 Fifth St., Ranshaw, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Henrich for scattering rubbish in a wooded area behind Lower Sagon between Aug. 11 and Aug. 18.
Brandi Foust, 21, of 30 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga for scattering rubbish near the third patch of Bear Valley between July 1 and July 24.
PFA violation
MOUNT CARMEL - Angela Marie Arsenyevictz, 31, of Bloomsburg, was charged by Patrolman Kevin Katch with violating a protection from abuse order by sending nine messages on Facebook to Barry Adams on Aug. 9.
Terroristic threats
COAL TOWNSHIP - Michael Long Jr., 23, of 193 Lower Excelsior Road, Excelsior, has been charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and disorderly conduct involving a disturbance at 12:30 a.m. Friday at his residence.
According to a criminal complaint, Long is accused of pouring kerosene on his front porch and threatening to burn his house down. He also allegedly screamed at his live-in girlfriend, Nadine Swank, pushed her and threatened to harm her.
Long was arraigned at 10:30 a.m. Friday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Simple assault
SHAMOKIN - Cpl. John Brown has charged Samuel Ryan Swank, 20, of 800 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, with simple assault and harassment involving a domestic disturbance at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Swank is accused of grabbing his 17-year-old live-in girlfriend, placing her in a headlock and throwing her onto the ground, causing shoulder and arm injuries.
Drug charges
SHAMOKIN - Shane Ryan Picarella, 22, of 151 N. Grant St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. John Brown with possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness and possession of Spice in connection with an Aug. 18 incident at 30 E. Independence St.
Theft charges
SHAMOKIN - Leon Fite Jr., 29, of 620 N. Cleaver St., Shamokin, was charged by Chief of Police Edward Griffiths with theft and receiving stolen property.
According to a criminal complaint, Fite is accused of stealing numerous pieces of jewelry from the home of Mary Lou Herb, 1006 N. Vine St., and selling them to Ye Olde Coin Shoppe on Aug. 13.
Theft by deception
TREVORTON - Lori Ann Dewald, 46, of 1331 Susquehanna St., Trevorton, was charged by Chief of Police Robert John with theft by deception and issuing a bad check.
Police reported Dewald issued a bad check in the amount of $188.12 to Angie's Market in Trevorton on May 8.
DUI
STONINGTON - Alexander Keith Clayberger, 39, of 1471 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged by Trooper Todd Leiby with driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs and careless driving relating to a Jan. 22 incident at the state police station at Stonington.
Police reported Clayberger had oxycodone and pyrrolidinopentiophenone in his blood system.
Criminal conspiracy
SHAMOKIN - Larry Rose, 39, of 819 A Mahanoy St., Trevorton, was charged by Patrolman William Miner with criminal conspiracy and criminal trespass for allegedly trespassing at the Raspberry Hill Housing Office at 10:20 a.m. Thursday.
Christina K. Lebo, 26, of 69 Raspberry Hill, Shamokin, was charged by Miner with criminal conspiracy relating to the same incident.
Both defendants were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and released on $5,000 bail.
