Stabbing charges

SHAMOKIN - A Shamokin man was formally charged on allegations he stabbed a man in the city's Fifth Ward earlier this month.

Angel Mario Melendez, 35, of 212 S. Franklin St., is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, disorderly conduct and possessing an instrument of crime. Melendez is accused of stabbing Jared Lehman, 21, of Northumberland, in his right arm in the 200 block of South Franklin Street about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 2. Lehman was treated at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

According to a criminal complaint, Lehman said Melendez attacked him over a relationship with a woman. Melendez struck him twice in the face and stabbed his arm, the complaint states. Melendez later turned himself over to police. He had blood on his clothing but stated he didn't know where it came from, and denied stabbing Lehman, police said.

Fire charges

SHAMOKIN - A city tenant who was allegedly high on spice when he set fire to his apartment has been charged with felony risking catastrophe and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

Cpl. Jarrod Scandle filed the charges against Matthew Allen, 36, of 45 S. Shamokin St. According to a criminal complaint, Allen said he was "too whacked out" to remember if he was smoking a cigarette in bed or if a pipe he was using to smoke spice, a synthetic marijuana, caused the fire Aug. 5.

The fire sparked near the headboard on his mattress inside a third floor bedroom. All tenants were evacuated safely. Extensive damage was caused to the building's third floor. Allen suffered burns to his right hand, police said.

Pipe possession

SHAMOKIN - Linda J. Bojanac, 56, of 317 S. Coal St., is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said she was observed sitting in the 300 block of South Seventh Street with a smoking pipe and marijuana about 8:40 p.m. July 23. Bojanac admitted to possessing the pipe and marijuana, according to a criminal complaint.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Charles J. Propst, 57, of 124 E. Chestnut St., is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Propst is accused of defecating behind the first block of West Independence Street at 8:50 p.m. Aug. 7. His pants were around his ankles and his penis and buttocks were exposed to passing motorists, according to a criminal complaint. Police said he smelled strongly of alcohol and admitted to drinking beer throughout the day.

DUI crash

PAXINOS - Shannon Noel Hommel, 24, of 334 Linden St., Sunbury, is charged by Trooper Jared Mowen, state police at Stonington, with two counts of driving under the influence and one count of drivers required to be license, driving on roadways laned for traffic, driving vehicle at safe speed, careless driving, reckless driving and occupant protection. Police said Hommel tested positive for prescription medication and marijuana following a rollover crash July 27 on Route 61 near Miles Road. The 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving twice crossed the cement median into the oncoming lane of traffic before rolling onto its roof. She was not wearing a seat belt and did not have a driver's license, police said.

Kitchen fire

SHAMOKIN - Sabrina Rose Hummel, 31, of 6 S. Franklin St., is charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with two felony counts of arson, felony risking a catastrophe, and a summary charge of arson-dangerous burning. Police said Hummel set fire to a trash can inside the kitchen of her home about 7:55 p.m. Aug. 1. Police said Hummel admitted to starting the fire. She was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for a mental health evaluation, according to a criminal complaint.

Drug charges

DIAMONTOWN - Zachary Allen Starr, 29, of 503 E. Fifth St., is charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Tomtishen with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and permitting violation of title. Police said a small amount of marijuana and heroin were found inside Starr's vehicle during a traffic stop about 11:30 p.m. July 22 near the viaduct on Route 61.

Starr and Patricia M. Phelan, 29, of 336 S. Locust St., were passenger in the vehicle. Phelan is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said a small amount of marijuana was found inside her purse.

The vehicle's driver, Kasey Lee Starr, 23, of 501 E. Fifth St., is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license DUI related, driving while operating privilege is suspended, drivers required to be licensed, required financial responsibility, carrying and exhibiting a registration card, general lighting requirements and restraint systems.

Careless driving

MOUNT CARMEL - Susan Marie Medved, 46, of 335 W. Fifth St., is charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with driving under the influence, misbranding a controlled substance and two counts of careless driving. Police said Medved crashed a Ford sedan into a parked Ford Bronco in the 300 block of West Seventh Street about 12:30 a.m. July 20. Multiple prescription medications were discovered inside the vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph Smallets, 28, of 213 S. Oak St., Apt. B, and Andrew Stewart Colon, 26, of 645 N. Sixth St., Reading, is charged by Lt. Christopher Buhay with criminal conspiracy, theft and public drunkenness. The two are accused by police of rummaging through vehicles, attempting to enter locked vehicles and being highly intoxicated. Charges stem from an incident July 14 in the 300 block of South Poplar Street.

Theft, drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph Charles Shoup, 31, of 501 E. Fifth St., is charged by Patrolman William Adamski with possession of drug paraphernalia, delivery of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Police said empty heroin packets, a plastic baggie, prescription pill bottle and small amount of marijuana were discovered inside his home about 9:30 p.m. July 26 after police were dispatched to the area to investigate an alleged theft of money from a vehicle.

Shoup is also charged by Adamski with possession of drug paraphernalia, delivery of drug paraphernalia, adulterated or altered controlled substance, retail theft and public drunkenness. Shoup is accused of stealing food, personal hygiene products, electronic accessories and beverages from Turkey Hill about 8:10 p.m. July 25. Total value of the items Shoup allegedly attempted to steal was approximately $143. Police said he also was in possession of prescription pills and a pen allegedly used to snort powder.

Charges dismissed

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of simple assault and harassment filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Dailey against Tyrik W. Johnson, 27, of Bloomsburg, were withdrawn Wednesday when the alleged victim, Heather Roeder, of Orangeville, refused to testify at a preliminary hearing.

Johnson was charged with assaulting Roeder at an Elysburg residence Sunday morning.

DUI charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Kelly Campbell has charged Timothy W. Weaver, 36, of 336 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance involving a June 23 traffic stop at the Mount Carmel Car Wash along Locust Gap Highway.

Police said Weaver was under the influence of a painkiller.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph M. Lamas, 33, of 243 Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving involving a June 26 incident in the 100 block of North Chestnut Street.

Police reported Lamas was found in possession of heroin, 14 wrappers used for heroin, a syringe, spoon and glass smoking pipe. He also is accused of driving under the influence of morphine.

Cruelty to animals

MOUNT CARMEL - Edward J. Bolam, 46, of 512 W. Saylor St., Atlas, was charged by Lt. Christopher Buhay with cruelty to animals and two counts of disorderly conduct.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Bolam is accused of allowing his dog to continuously bark in a vacant property he owns at 345 S. Locust St. Police said the barking occurred between June 28 and July 17.

Multiple charges

RIVERSIDE - Serena Lee Beck, 31, of 1720 Maple Ave., Coal Township, was charged by Officer Timothy Kiefaber with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a misbranded substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, false identification to law enforcement authorities, two counts of driving under suspension and a turn signal violation.

The charges relate to a July 1 traffic stop in the 100 block of Elysburg Road.

Police reported Beck had phentermine, clonazepam, marijuana, oxycodone and oxymorphone in her blood system.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Janelle Kristen Nye, 25, of 915 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with driving under the influence of alcohol and a stop sign violation relating to a June 27 accident at Market and Second streets.

Police reported Nye refused to submit to a blood test.

Deceptive business

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Charges of theft and deceptive business practices were filed by Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush against Joseph Thomas McGinley, 51, of 250 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel.

Police said McGinley is accused of receiving $3,520 from Sherry Doyle on Dec. 20, 2011, for repair work at a residence at 201 Wood St., Atlas, that he never completed. Doyle told police she gave McGinley cash for half of the total projected cost for the renovations because he had completed numerous other jobs for her in the past with no issues.

Two-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Route 61 at Burger King.

Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder reported Larry Smith, 74, of Atlas, had his 2011 Jeep stopped at the intersection waiting to turn left to travel south on Route 61 shortly before 11:30 a.m. when a Disposal Management Services garbage truck operated by Alexander Epley, 35, of Bloomsburg, struck the passenger side of Smith's vehicle. Police said Epley was attempting to turn right onto Route 61 from the jughandle.

The Jeep sustained damage to its passenger side from the rear bumper to front fender.

Smith, Epley and a passenger in Smith's Jeep, Kathy Gallagher, 44, of Shamokin, escaped injury.

Route 61 crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Luis Martinez-Medina, 19, of 1014 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, faces traffic citations from Coal Township police following a crash Thursday night along Route 61.

Martinez-Medina was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt north shortly before 11 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle while rounding "brewery curve." The vehicle crossed the median and struck the driver-side of a southbound 2014 Ford Escape driven by Bryan Hornberger, 42, of 1424 Hemlock St., Coal Township.

Martinez-Medina's vehicle continued into a guide rail, while Hornberger's vehicle crossed the median and both northbound lanes of travel and traveled into an embankment.

A third vehicle, a 2008 Ford Escape driven north by Andrea Ignaszewski, 32, of 1550 Wabash St., Coal Township, struck a bumper laying in the road that came loose from Martinez-Medina's vehicle. Ignazsewski's vehicle sustained minor damage. The other vehicles sustained moderate to heavy damage and were towed. Police did not release information on the drivers' conditions.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Neil Edward Swatsky, 32, of 211 S. Poplar St., is charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Mary Beth Goodlunas, 42, same address, is charged with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

Police say Swatsky had four needles and a piece of a Suboxone tablet, and that Goodlunas had a glass stem with burned residue when they were confronted outside their home about 7:20 p.m. July 16.

Lotto theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Joey James Levesque, 21, of 338 S. Pear St., and Kelly Jo Dziadosz, 18, of 33 E. Sixth St., are charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy to commit theft and criminal conspiracy receiving stolen property.

Police say Levesque was working part-time at Turkey Hill Minit Markets on June 30 when he stole lottery tickets or gave them away to Dziadosz and a 17-year-old male, who faces the same charges in juvenile court. According to a criminal complaint, Levesque is responsible for $900 in cash or lottery tickets allegedly stolen from the store.

One injured in crash

CLEVELAND TOWNSHIP - A Catawissa man was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:35 p.m. Saturday in the area of Pine Swamp Road, Cleveland Township.

Locust Township Police Cpl. Christopher Snyder reported a 2007 Nissan Frontier, driven by Jacob A. Schoch, 30, of 31 Birch Lane, was traveling north on Pine Swamp Road when he struck a tree head-on.

Schoch was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was treated and released while the vehicle had to be towed from the scene. Snyder said that charges are pending the results of toxicology tests.

Assisting Locust Township Police at the scene were Ralpho Township Cpl. Bryon Chowka, and members of the Valley Chemical Fire Department, Roaring Creek Valley Quick Response Squad, the Bloomsburg Ambulance Company and the Berwick Ambulance Company.

Crash

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 12:49 p.m. Monday when a silver Honda Accord sedan driven by Steven Hricenak, 18, was traveling west on Route 54 and lost control while attempting to turn on to Bear Gap Road. According to Ralpho Township Police, the Elysburg man struck a utility pole and heavily damaged his car. Hricenak sustained no injuries and his car was towed from the scene by Tire Ranch, Elysburg. Assisting Ralpho Township Police Chief Stu Appel at the scene were the Elysburg and Overlook fire departments, Elysburg Ambulance and fire police. Crews from PPL's Marion Heights substation responded to replace the damaged pole.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police charged Christopher E. Ransel, 46, of 236 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, with retail theft for allegedly attempting to take merchandise valued at $89.88 from Walmart Supercenter July 20.

Drug paraphernalia

COAL TOWNSHIP - Charles Troup III, 21, of 536 N. Second St., Shamokin, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police said he was found with drug paraphernalia at the intersection of Owl and Independence streets shortly before midnight Aug. 2.

Theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Tiffany Haddock, 31, of 719 E. Independence St., Shamokin, faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property after police said she stole blank checks from John Oravitz's residence, 612 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, sometime between July 11 and 15.

Police said Haddock used the checks to make purchases to her own benefit totalling $912.55 at Walmart Supercenter.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Heather Buch, of 933 W. Spruce St., reported an unknown person scratched her 2002 Hyundai Sonata while it was parked on Spruce Street near her house.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Jarrod Scandle has cited six teens for underage drinking involving a party at 116 S. Second St. in the early morning hours of Aug. 5.

Cited were Christopher McCabe, 19, of 52 Berry St., Coal Township; Cheyenne Popewczak, 19, of 3560 Upper Road, Shamokin; Jacob P. Schweitzer, 18, of 1700 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township; Catelin Pancher, 19, of 4254 Upper Road, Shamokin; a 17-year-old Paxinos female, and a 17-year-old Elysburg female.

Furnishing charge

COAL TOWNSHIP - Charles Amos Troup III, 21, of 536 N. Second St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Joshua Wynn with furnishing beer to an 18-year-old female June 27 in the 1100 block of West Arch Street.

Troup also was charged by Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky with possession of drug paraphernalia involving an Aug. 2 incident at Independence and Owl streets, where he was found with a tinfoil smoking pipe.

He was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to county prison in lieu of $6,000 bail on both charges.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Three defendants pleaded guilty to charges Tuesday and were each ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs.

Rachel Graham, 32, of 343 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to a summary of retail theft. An additional charge of criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft was withdrawn.

Graham was charged by Coal Township Cpl. Joshua Wynn with stealing $327.30 worth of merchandise from Walmart Supercenter Oct. 24.

Drew Wagner, 25, and Marilyn Hughes, 23, both of 831 E. Clay St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to harassment. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn against both defendants.

The couple were charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II in a July 15 domestic dispute.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Theodore Pietkewicz, 42, of 904 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman David Sage with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol relating to a July 13 incident on Reinhart Road.

Police said Pietkewicz had a blood-alcohol content of .169 percent.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Alysia A. Haller, 32, of 29 N. Seventh St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for two counts of disorderly conduct involving a disturbance at 6:45 p.m. Aug. 7 in the first block of North Seventh Street.

Police reported Haller is accused of screaming at a neighbor, throwing garbage and breaking glass in the street.

Ibn M. Islam, 38, of 25 N. Seventh St., Shamokin, was cited by Siko for disorderly conduct for screaming at a neighbor relating to the same disturbance.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - A 17-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, all of Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for disorderly conduct after they cursed, screamed and threatened to assault someone in the 300 block of South Pearl Street at 6:48 p.m. Friday.

Jose Caban, 32, of 17 S. Rock St., Shamokin, was also cited by Mowery for disorderly conduct for cursing, screaming and threatening a man while holding a shovel during the same incident.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Stefani Manzoni, 24, of 716 Follies Road, Dallas, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with criminal mischief after police said she intentionally damaged a window at 1 E. Arch St. at 7:23 a.m. Aug. 8.

City police requested Manzoni pay $98.36 in restitution.

Trespass

SHAMOKIN - A 15-year-old Coal Township boy and two 15-year-old Shamokin boys were cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver with criminal trespass and violating a city curfew ordinance after police said they entered the Lawton W. Shroyer Memorial Pool through a fence shortly before 1 a.m. Aug. 4.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Kyle Gulliver, 18, of 805 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery with harassment for allegedly striking and shoving another person at around 10:30 p.m. Friday at 140 W. Lincoln St.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - A 17-year-old Shamokin boy was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for underage drinking, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness after police said he was found intoxicated at around 11 p.m. Aug. 7 at the intersection of Pearl and Willow streets.

Liquor law violation

MOUNT CARMEL - Nicholas M. Gummel, owner of the Silver Spur at 249-251 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, has been cited by the state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for selling liquor and/or malt beverages after his liquor license expired March 31.

Police said the offense occurred April 3 and April 4.

The charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge also can impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Brenton Foreman, 18, of 405 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for disorderly conduct involving a disturbance at the Fifth Street playground at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman William Miner has charged Julie A. Bielski, 50, of 124 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, with retail theft for allegedly removing two pain relief pills and consuming them at the Dollar General at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 1.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - David J. Swatski Jr., 33, of 543 E. Arch St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman William Miner for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 5:30 a.m. Aug. 7 in the 300 block of South Diamond Street.

Police said Swatski pounded on a door and challenged people to fight.

Criminal mischief

MONROE TOWNSHIP - An unknown person or persons shot windows of Tedd's Landing, 45 Route 11, with a BB gun between 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday in this Snyder County township. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Selinsgrove at 570-374-8145.

Money stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Rosemarie Dunick, of Coal Run Road, reported to township police someone broke into her home and stole $270 in cash between 1 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

Jewels stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Taylor Marie Dettrey, 28, of 2012 N. Fourth St., Harrisburg, is charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with two counts each of theft and receiving stolen property for separate incidents.

Dettrey is accused of stealing $927 in jewelry from the home of Janet Eveland, 48, of 832 W. Pine St., between Dec. 6, 2013, and Jan. 6, 2014. Dettrey also is accused of stealing jewelry from the home of Kenneth Kline, 46, of 1750 W. Gowen St., and pawning it in Shamokin for $235.15 Feb. 4, 2013.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has charged Kenneth R. Sampsell Jr., 20, of 135 Birch St., Shamokin, with felonies of delivery of spice, possession with intent to deliver spice, criminal conspiracy and criminal use of a communication facility and a misdemeanor of possession of spice.

The charges relate to a June 16 incident in the city in which Sampsell allegedly sold spice to an informant for $30.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jose A. Caban, 32, of 17 S. Rock St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Terry Ketchem with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and driving without a license relating to an Aug. 1 accident on Route 61 near Palmer's Diner.

Police reported Caban, who had a blood-alcohol content of .127 percent, was operating a vehicle that struck a road sign and several reflectors, causing a flat tire and damage to the front headlight assembly and oil pan.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman William Miner has charged Jarid M. Spears, 24, of 923 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under suspension and careless driving involving a July 17 accident at 2 N. Eighth St.

Police said Spears, whose vehicle struck a parked vehicle, was driving under the influence of lorazepam and morphine.

Burglary

LAVELLE - Butler Township police are investigating a burglary at the residence of William and Colleen Flail, of 174 High Road, Lavelle, that occurred between 8:55 a.m. and 1:50 p.m. Aug. 16.

Police said someone entered the home and removed an undisclosed amount of cash.

Bites hand

SHAMOKIN - Matthew J. Barron, 29, of 709 N. Liberty St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for harassment for allegedly biting the hand of Jessica Snyder at his residence at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Trespass

TREVORTON - Skie Marie Campbell, 21, of Shamokin, will be cited for simple trespass by Trooper Jared S. Mowen, state police at Stonington, for allegedly trespassing on property owned by Ken Deitrick, of Coal Township, at 479 Trevorton Road, Zerbe Township, about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Fraud

MILE RUN - Mike Davoli, of Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington that his credit card was used illegally to make purchases online Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-286-5601.

Criminal trespass

COAL TOWNSHIP - Four Shamokin males, ages 12, 15, 16 and 17, were cited by Coal Township police for criminal trespass in connection with an Aug. 13 incident at the former BRL building in the Ames Plaza along Route 61.

Police said the juveniles entered the building through a doorway and remained inside until township officers arrived at 5:48 p.m. Police immediately took two of the juveniles into custody without incident before apprehending the other two juveniles who attempted to flee the area.

All four juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.

Stalking

COAL TOWNSHIP - Aaron Bressi, 34, of 1727 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was charged by Detective Jeff Brennan with stalking involving a disturbance at noon Friday in his block.

Police said Bressi allegedly used obscene language toward a female and children.

He was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Montour County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Police said Bressi was taken into custody Thursday for using obscene language toward the same female and exposing himself to her Aug. 18. The victim was not identified by police. Bressi was arraigned for those offenses and ordered not to have any contact with the female.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - William Regester, 35, of 18 S. Market St., Apt. 3, Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct relating to a fight in the first block of South Market Street at 5:53 a.m. Sunday.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Deanna M. Long, 26, of 135 Dans Way, Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Michael App of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, failing to produce a valid driver's license, failing to drive in a single lane of traffic, failing to use a turn signal, careless driving and failing to wear a seat belt.

The charges relate to a July 20 traffic stop at the intersection of Route 225 and Columbus Drive in Coal Township.

Police said Long had a blood-alcohol content of .166 percent.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman William Zalinski has charged Joel A. Santiago, 18, of 401 N. Rock St., second floor, Shamokin, with harassment, stalking, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief involving a May 8 disturbance.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Alex Barak was involved in a verbal argument with Santiago and two other males who weren't identified. Barak told police the three males threatened him and chased him on foot to his home at 20 S. Vine St.

After Barak secured himself inside his home, Santiago allegedly picked up a large stick and smashed out the two front windows at Barak's residence, causing approximately $500 damage. When Barak exited his home in an attempt to stop Santiago, police said Santiago struck Barak in the upper body with the stick.

Barak provided police with video surveillance footage from his home security system that identified Santiago as the suspect.

Santiago admitted committing the offenses, police said.

SCI-Coal inmate assaults nurse

COAL TOWNSHIP - Eric Jones, 26, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Kevin Kearney of state police at Stonington with assaulting a nurse at the state prison July 7.

Police reported Jones allegedly punched Jennifer Herrold in the face, causing a cut on her lip. Jones also is accused of possessing a 5 1/4-inch shank in the waste band of his pants.

Police said Jones and Herrold were discussing the inmate's medications when Jones became angry and punched her on the left side of the cheek, left eye and lip.

Jones is charged with aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime and possessing a weapon for escape.

Multiple charges

SHAMOKIN - Robert E. Whispell III, 28, of 720 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, has been charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with possession of drug paraphernalia, flight to avoid apprehension, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct relating to an incident at 11 p.m. Saturday.

Police reported Whispell possessed two syringes commonly used to inject a controlled substance, four spoons with residue, an orange straw with residue and a roll of brillo after police found him stumbling near the intersection of Shamokin and Commerce streets. Police said Whispell admitted smoking spice about an hour before the incident.

Whispell was arraigned at 1:15 a.m. Sunday by on-call Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Montour County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Driver escapes injury

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Jared W. Holdren, 25, of Coal Township, escaped injury Sunday night in a one-car accident along Route 147 in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington reported Holdren was driving a 2010 Toyota Prius south at 8:11 p.m. when a deer ran onto the highway into the path of his auto, causing a collision. Holdren was then able to bring his car to a controlled stop.

Police said Holdren was wearing a seat belt.

Members of Dalmatia Fire Company assisted at the scene.

Battery, GPS stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating the theft of an Optima brand vehicle battery, Craftsman tool set and Garmin GPS from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of West Arch Street between 1:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday.

Anyone with information about the theft should call Coal Township police at 570-644-0333.

Phone scams

LOCUST TOWNSHIP - Locust Township police have received multiple phone scam reports during the past week.

Police said a local resident was contacted by an individual who identified himself as being from Microsoft Windows. Police said the caller requested the resident to provide him with her name, address, phone number and date of birth and also requested the resident to give him permission to remotely access her computer to complete an upgrade of Microsoft Windows that was installed on her computer.

Police said the individual was able to remotely access the resident's computer and then locked it. The caller told the resident that the only way he would unlock her computer is if she paid an unspecified monetary amount.

Two residents also received calls from an automated calling service identifying themselves as being from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The automated message provides them with a call back number and advises them that they are requested to call back because they allegedly owe money to the IRS.

Police asked residents to be cautious in giving out personal information via telephone so they do not become victims to these scams.

Scattering rubbish

SHAMOKIN - Valen Brommer, 26, of 610 Cleaver St., Apt. 10, Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman William Miner for scattering rubbish at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at the Salvation Army store on East Independence Street.

Police said Brommer is accused of dumping eight bags of garbage at the store, including a full bag of used cat litter.

Breaks window

SHAMOKIN - Jamarl Brunson, 33, of 1150 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for criminal mischief for allegedly breaking a window at an apartment at 18 S. Market St. at 3:23 a.m. Friday.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Melissa Barker, 30, of 1333 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for harassment for allegedly punching Briana Peterson, of 541 S. Market St., Shamokin, in the face outside 714 N. Shamokin St.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Anthony Zulkoski, of 716 W. Spruce St., Shamokin, told Coal Township police his vehicle was rear-ended by a hit-and-run driver at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at a traffic light on Route 61, near Burger King.

Zulkoski was stopped in a 1999 International truck when it was struck by a silver Chevrolet Cavalier, police said. The female driver drove off as he exited to survey damage. He told police it has a Grateful Dead window sticker and should have front-end damage.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police cited Brian Keith Shawda, 31, of 4045 Route 61, Sunbury, with several counts of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving in connection with a crash he was involved in around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 3 on Route 61 near East End Auto.

Shawda was ejected from his car during the rollover crash and was taken by LifeFlight to Geisinger Medical Center. He was hospitalized for at least a week.

Simple assault

COAL TOWNSHIP - Louis Baez, 24, of 69 S. Oak St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with simple assault and harassment for an incident that occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Yoder said Baez and his mother, Andrea Baez, with whom he lived, became involved in an argument. Baez slammed a door into her face, causing a bleeding cut above and below her eye as well as bruising and swelling, Yoder said. She was taken by ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for further evaluation.

Baez was video-arraigned and incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

Crash

BUTLER TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported when two vehicles collided on Fairgrounds Road in Butler Township around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

State police in Frackville said Mary L. Bauman, 48, of Sunbury, slowed to make a left turn in her 2004 Chevrolet Blazer when she was struck from behind by a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Michael Chickersky, 76, of Ashland.

Chickersky's vehicle was towed from the scene.

Liquor license violation

MOUNT CARMEL - Willow Cafe and Restaurant, also known as Mattucci's Willow Cafe, was cited by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for selling liquor or malt beverages without a license on multiple occasions between April 1 and 28.

According to the bureau, the restaurant's liquor license had expired March 31 and had not been renewed.

Driver airlifted

GILBERTON - Sheldon J. Buscavage, 51, of Frackville, was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville Friday night after suffering serious injuries in a one-car crash along Gold Star Highway (Route 924).

State police at Frackville reported Buscavage was driving a 2000 Dodge Stratus south in Gilberton near Catawissa Street at 10:05 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a left curve and lost control of his car, which went off the west berm and struck a rock embankment. The car overturned once across both southbound lanes and came to rest on its wheels straddling the concrete median.

Police said Buscavage was not wearing a seat belt. His car was towed from the scene. Charges are pending.

Machinery vandalized

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Police here reported someone started and moved heavy equipment used for mining operations at John Shingara's mining area off Gap Road in an area known as "Smirf's Pond" between 5:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday.

Police said the windshield of a Moxy articulated haul truck was kicked out, causing $1,000 damage.

Juvenile car thief

MOUNT CARMEL - A juvenile was charged with theft and related offenses after allegedly stealing the same car twice in two days last week.

Mount Carmel Borough Police Cpl. David Donkochik reported a 17-year-old from Mount Carmel took a vehicle Thursday at Third and Locust streets then returned it to the same area only to steal the vehicle again Aug. 28.

The juvenile was charged with two counts each of receiving stolen property, theft and drivers required to be licensed.

Scattering rubbish

MOUNT CARMEL - Diane M. Hutko, 47, of 230 S. Plum St., Mount Carmel, was cited for scattering rubbish by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Kevin Katch for throwing household items out the second floor window of her residence and onto the street at 3 p.m. Aug. 14.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Ashley R. Yorks, 22, of 216 W. Avenue, was cited for harassment after allegedly struck her mother, Sheila Labate, in the head at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 14. The citation was filed by borough police Cpl. David Donkochik.

Underage drinking

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph R. Schmoyer, 18, of 215 S. Maple St., was cited for underage drinking by borough police Patrolman Matthew Dillman related to an incident at Fifth and Market streets at 4:30 a.m. Aug. 18.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police Patrolman William Adamski cited a 13-year-old Mount Carmel juvenile with public drunkeness after the youth was found under the influence of synthetic spice while in the gazebo area at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Jennifer Diamond, 36, and Lance Glenney, 27, both of 337 E. Seventh St., were cited by Patrolman Justin Stelma with harassment after a 6 a.m. disturbance Aug. 16. Police allege the individuals struck each other, causing injury.

Dog running at large

COAL TOWNSHIP - Miranda Canouse, 20, of 127 Main St., was cited by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky, for allowing her dogs to run at large Aug. 20.

DUI charges filed

ELYSBURG - Ralpho Township Police charged Brent M. Forbes, 24, of 4499 Route 125, Coal Township, with driving under the influence, driving with the highest rate of alcohol in their system and driving with an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.

The charges stem from a May 15 traffic stop by township police officer Chris Dailey in the area of Spruce Street, Elysburg. According to police, chemical testing showed his blood alcohol level to be .161 at the time of the stop. The vehicle he was driving also had a partially consumed beer can and several empty cans inside.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 23.

Defiant trespass

MOUNT CARMEL - A borough woman faces trespassing charges after refusing to leave an East Avenue residence Aug. 22.

Police reported Amanda M. Lotis, 32, of 137 W. Avenue was inside the home of another individual. Lotis told police she was there to get her clothes and cell phone, but was visibly under the influence of alcohol. Lotis was allegedly told the day before that she was not welcome at the residence.

One individual, Kevin McCarthy, told police that Lotis allegedly through a cell phone at him and later slapped him in the face.

Police charged Lotis with defiant trespass and harassment. The case is filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Sept. 23.

Needles found

MOUNT CARMEL - Christine G. McIntyre, 47, of 322 N. Oak St., was charged with possession of a controlled substance after state parole agents found syringes and a spoon, used for ingesting narcotics into the body, during an Aug. 24 search of McIntyre's residence.

The charges were filed by Lt. Chris Buhay of the Mount Carmel Borough Police Department with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 23.

DUI

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Jason Davis, 39, of 22 S. Sherman St., Coal Township, was charged with driving under the influence and driving on roadway laned for traffic, and careless driving by state police trooper Todd Leiby following a traffic stop in State Route 4004 near Hill Road, Rush Township.

Chemical testing showed Davis was under the infulence of drugs at the time of the stop. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 16.

Disorderly conduct

WILBURTON - A Kulpmont man was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct after giving residents along Wilburton Road a scare July 21.

Mount Carmel Township Police charged Jeffrey S. Gabel, 30, of 640 Chestnut St., Apt. 5, after police received reports of a bloody man walking in the afternoon with a large butcher knife. Police found Gabel holding several large knives in between his fingers with his arms extended to the sides. When apprehended by the police, officers found numerous pieces of glass in his back pocket.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing set Sept. 23.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - Gregory Swatsky, 61, of 211 S. Poplar St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police, investigating an assault in the area, found a syringe, a spoon with cotton and white residue on it, and other items that Swatsky had placed on the ground when officers arrived.

The charge was filed by Mount Carmel Borough Police Lt. Chris Buhay with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. A preliminary hearing is set Sept. 23.

Driving while intoxicated

SHAMOKIN - Koryne M. Dilliplane, 35, of 926 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, was charged with driving under the influence, failure to produce her driver's license on demand, driving without insurance and careless driving. The charges stem from a traffic stop made by state police Trooper Jared Mowen in the area of Spruce and Carbon streets, Shamokin Aug, 13.

Dilliplane submitted a blood test, which showed her to be under the influence of a number of drugs at the time of the stop. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 6.

Credit card theft

RIVERSIDE - A Danville man faces charges after trying to activate stolen credit cards in front of police.

Riverside Borough Police Patrol officer Jennifer Goss reported in court documents that while assisting Danville Police perform an Aug. 7 consent search on Tyler Davis, 25, of 406 E. Front St., Danville.

Officers observed Davis sitting on a bench with two credit cards and calling the phone number on the cards to activate them. Police told him to do that later and he put the cards in his pocket.

Later, during a search, Goss found the cards and discovered they were not in his name, but in the name of a woman he does work for in Riverside. Davis allegedly found them under a dresser while moving furniture in her home.

The victim told police there was no reason for Davis to have the cards.

Police charged Davis with theft, credit card fraud and receiving stolen property. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 23.

Liquor law violations

MONTOURSVILLE - Two local organizations were cited by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for various violations.

The Brady Fire Company, 700 Maple St., Coal Township, was cited Aug. 20 for failing to charge and collect dues, failure to maintain complete and truthful records covering the operation of the business for a period of two years for the small games of chance act and failure to maintain records in conformity of the liquor code.

The Mount Carmel Legion Memorial Association, 48-50 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, was cited Aug. 21. for failing to operate small games of chance in conformity to regulations and selling liquor, malt or brewed beverages after their license expired March 31, 2015.

The charge will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge also can impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.

Van hits pole

STRONG - John Thomas, 64, of 152 Second St., Strong, escaped injury Wednesday when a van he was driving on East Street crashed into and knocked over a utility pole.

Mount Carmel Police Chief Brian Hollenbush said Thomas was driving a Chevrolet Venture south on Route 61 at about 4 p.m. when he lost his brakes while turning onto East Street and lost control. The pole, wires and a street light fell onto East Street.

The van was demolished and towed by Dave's Auto Body. Employees from PPL responded to remove the pole. No power outages were reported.

Also responding were Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage, firefighters from Strong, AREA Services Ambulance and Mount Carmel fire police. The scene was cleared at about 4:45 p.m.

Trevorton crash

TREVORTON - No one was injured in a crash involving two parked vehicles and an alleged speeding vehicle at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 129 W. Shamokin St.

Zerbe Township Police Chief Robert John reported that Jared R. P. Stover, 26, of 3614 Upper Road, Shamokin, was traveling west on Shamokin Street in a 2009 Kia Spectra at a high rate of speed when, in pulling into a parking space at the address, he failed to stop in time and struck a parked 1988 Ford F-150 truck, owned by James E. Shingara, of 329 E. Shamokin St.

The truck was pushed into a parked 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, owned by Jessica Ann Woodward, of 131 W. Shamokin St. Damage to the two parked vehicles was minimal, while Stover's vehicle had moderate damage.

Police cited Stover for careless driving and driving without insurance.

Rowdy at G-SACH

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old Shamokin male was cited for disorderly conduct after reportedly becoming unruly at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital at 8:16 p.m. Friday.

Township police say the youth, who was in the hospital's emergency room as a patient, became violent toward hospital staff and emergency personnel. The youth made threats and was combative, police said.

After treatment, he was released to the custody of his parents. The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Garage burglary

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington report sometime between Aug. 1 and 21, someone broke into a garage on Poplar Road and removed various vehicle parts owned by Warren Brubaker, of Sunbury, and Glen A. Haupt, of Paxinos.

Drug incident

MOUNT CARMEL - A borough man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, harassment and public drunkenness following the investigation into a domestic assault at 322 N. Oak St. at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.

Lt. Chris Buhay reported police were called to the residence by Christine McIntyre, who stated her boyfriend, David V. Brzostowski, 56, of 322 N. Oak St., struck her in the face and left the residence.

Brzostowski was found in the area drinking and a preliminary breath test allegedly showed his alcohol level to be .24 percent. When searched, police found a clear glass smoking pipe in his pocket, used to ingest narcotics.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 23.

Loose tire hits car

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-car crash on Route 61 in Shamokin Township at 9:30 a.m. Monday.

State police at Stonington report a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker, driven by Courtney M. Wadeck, 19, of Northumberland, was traveling south on Route 61 when her left front tire came off her vehicle and rolled into the northbound lane, striking a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Betty A., Minium, 37, of Plymouth.

Neither driver, nor Minium's passenger, Angel M. Minium, 33, of Shamokin, were injured.

DUI crash

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Michael A. Delorso, 51, of 1404 W. Pine St., Coal Township, was charged with driving under the influence, driving on roadways laned for traffic, failure to drive a vehicle at a safe speed and careless driving after the investigation into a one-vehicle crash July 25 on Route 61 near Reading Turnpike Road.

State police said Delorso said he had been drinking, and as he was approaching a curve, a truck ran him off the road, where his vehicle struck a stone wall. Later, Delorso described it as a car, but there was no evidence at the scene of another vehicle, police said.

Trooper Nicholas Berger gave Delorso a breath test which showed him to be over the legal limit. Chemical blood testing showed his levels to be at .16 percent at the time, according to police.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, with a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 6.

Syrup theft

KULPMONT - Jessica Lynn McCollum, 34, of 651 Chestnut St., was charged with retail theft by Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage after allegedly stealing a container of syrup at the Sunoco store on Chestnut Street at 1:47 p.m. Aug. 19. The value of the item was $5.75.

Disorderly conduct

KULPMONT - Courtney N. Lynn, 25, of 91 Broad St., Ashland, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct following an Aug. 10 incident at 11th and Chestnut streets.

Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage reported in court documents that police received a call about a couple in Town Park possibly high on drugs and a caller saying the female pulled a large knife out of a bag.

When confronted by police, Lynn told officers that she put the knife back in her bag. They then found two yellow straws with a white residue inside them and a clear plastic bag used to package drugs. Lynn told police the bag belonged to someone else who went elsewhere to use the bathroom.

Witnesses told authorities that Lynn was the only person with the bag.

Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 23.

DUI charges filed

COAL TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington charged Michael J. Katinsky, 430 W. Fig St., Mount Carmel, with driving under the influence of alcohol and a number of traffic violations after a traffic stop in the area of Route 61 near Walmart on Aug. 12.

Police stopped Katinsky for driving through a flashing red light and then stopping 100 feet before a steady red light on Route 61. Chemical blood testing showed his alcohol level to be .123 percent at the time of the stop, police said.

Charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 29.

Riders cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Michael Rumberger, 19, of Trevorton, Bailey Stank, 20, of Coal Township, and Bradlee Shipe, 18, of Coal Township, were cited for trespassing by township police on Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area property.

Police said Rumberger, on an ATV, and Stank and Shipe, on dirt bikes, rode past several no trespassing signs in the Third Patch of Bear Valley Road at 11:35 a.m. Saturday.

Coal Township police and AOAA officials remind the public that those caught on AOAA property without permission will be cited for trespassing.

Burglary

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police are seeking information on a burglary at 138 N. Oak St. that took place while the owner was away Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.

Police said several items are missing from the residence, including an antique coin collection valued at $17,000; an American Eagle Coin Collection valued at $516; a women's platinum diamond ring, valued at $2,000; several pearl, gold and silver women's necklaces valued at $700, and several small household appliances and bottles of liquor.

Lt. Christopher Buhay, who is leading the investigation, said several video surveillance cameras are being reviewed, along with other evidence left in the residence. He's asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity to contact the police department at 570-339-6020.

Hit and run

MONROE TOWNSHIP - State police at Selinsgrove are continuing their search today for the driver of tractor-trailer involved in a hit-and-run accident at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Routes 11-15 near the Susquehanna Valley Mall.

Police reported the tractor-trailer driver was traveling in the right northbound lane when the rig moved into the left lane and struck a tan Pontiac Sunfire operated by Donna K. Hummel, 59, of Freeburg, who escaped injury.

Police said the tractor-trailer driver fled the scene.

The rig is a white truck with a white trailer and has damage to its driver's side trailer area.

Driver, passenger charged

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Multiple charges have been filed by Patrolman Kelly Campbell against the driver and passenger of a vehicle stopped during a speed enforcement on Route 54 on top of the Natalie Mountain Aug. 11.

Joanne Marie Rodgers, 45, of 214 Walnut St., Pottsville, is charged with speeding, possession of marijuana and bath salts and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Robert R. Lawson, 50, of 139 Centre St., Apt. 1, Ashland, a passenger in Rodgers' car, is charged with possession of marijuana and bath salts, possession of drug paraphernalia and restrictions on alcoholic beverages.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman William Adamski charged Rick Anthony Wolkoski, 38, of Mount Carmel, with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.

Adamski said Wolkoski was found overdosing on heroin Aug. 10 in the kitchen at 30 N. Vine St. The syringe police believe he used to inject the heroin and packaging for heroin was found nearby.

Wolkoski was revived with Narcan.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - John W. Muldor Jr., 23, of 129 N. Rock St., was cited for disorderly conduct by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Scott Weaver for an incident at about 7:22 p.m. Friday at the Shamokin Street playground in which he allegedly got into a disturbance with children and refused to leave.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Nathan Jones, 49, of 723 E. Packer St., Shamokin, was charged with public drunkenness after he allegedly appeared on a public street intoxicated causing a disturbance outside his house at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Cpl. Terry Ketchem has charged cited Kyler Swatsky, 21, of 701 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, depositing waste on a highway or property and careless driving relating to an Aug. 14 incident at the Plaza at Coal Township.

Ketchem said a traffic stop was initiated after Swatsky was spotted throwing a beer bottle out of the driver's side window and driving in a careless manner.

Swatsky had a blood-alcohol content of .211 percent, according to Ketchem.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Two defendants pleaded guilty Tuesday to different charges and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay fines and costs.

Linda Bojanac, 56, of 317 S. Coal St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

An additional charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.

Bojanac was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with possessing a smoking pipe and marijuana in the 300 block of South Seventh Street July 23.

David Seger, 55, of 1026 E. Packer St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to scattering rubbish and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and make restitution in the amount of $100 to Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Seger was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Jason Adams with dumping used tires on the grounds of Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery between Sept. 13 and April 16.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Roland A. Zerbe, 20, of 916 Cemetery St., Williamsport, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for public drunkenness and underage drinking relating to an Aug. 3 incident at Rock and Sunbury streets.

Darren J. Moore, 19, of Muncy Valley, also was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for underage drinking involving the same incident.

Open alcohol

SHAMOKIN - Eric A. Merrill, 25, of 11 S. Market St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, and James A. Colross, 24, of 640 Hillside Ave., Shamokin, were cited by Police Chief Darwin Tobias III for possessing an open container of alcohol at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday at Market and Montgomery streets.

Heroin possession

COAL TOWNSHIP - Detective Jeff Brennan has charged Levi Reigle, 23, of 1244 Chemung St., Coal Township, with possession of heroin involving a May 11 disturbance at his home.

Drug possession

COAL TOWNSHIP - Beverly Rosenberger, 36, of 1545 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township, was charged by Detective Jeff Brennan with possessing methamphetamine at her home July 25.

Theft-related charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell has charged Thomas Meshach, 26, of Phillipsburg, N.J., with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, simple assault and harassment involving an Aug. 16 incident.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Meshach is accused of punching Jesse Miller in the face several times, causing him to seek medical treatment at a hospital. He also allegedly stole a gold, 2000 Chevrolet owned by Martha Doone and crashed it into a creek behind Anthracite Provision. The vehicle, which sustained moderate damage, had to be towed from the creek.

Dangerous dog

COAL TOWNSHIP - Frank Manley, 45, of 853 Center St., Tharptown, was charged by State Dog Warden Mark Rusinko with six misdemeanor counts of failing to comply with the Dog Law Act relating to incidents that began Aug. 15.

Rusinko reported Manley owns a dangerous male Boxer mix dog named "Butkus" that is not validly registered because he didn't pay a $500 fee. He said the dog also is not properly enclosed and doesn't have a microchip to identify it. The dog warden said the dog is not spayed or neutered and Manley doesn't have a surety bond or liability insurance for it.

Access device fraud

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Brittany Ann Gerth, 21, of 141 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and theft by deception for allegedly stealing a gift card from a customer and using it to purchase items while she was employed as a cashier at Boyer's Food Market.

Police said the offenses occurred in June.

Guilty plea

MOUNT CARMEL - Nicholas F. Strohecker, 20, of 218 Strohecker Road, Herndon, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a $250 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

An additional charge of scattering rubbish was withdrawn.

Strohecker was charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with dumping a pickup truck load of trash over an embankment along Painted Road in East Cameron Township June 3.
