Defiant trespass

THARPTOWN - William H. Delbaugh, 36, of 6 N. Locust St., Coal Township, will be cited by Coal Township police for defiant trespass relating to an incident at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday on property owned by Aqua Pennsylvania in the Tharptown area.

Campsite theft

SUNBURY - About $1,130 in items were reported stolen between 11 p.m. Sept. 28 and noon Oct. 19 from a campsite at Nikomahs Campground in Upper Augusta Township.

A television, power tools, fishing equipment, electronics and horseshoes were among the items stolen from Matthew Marcheski, 23, of Shamokin, and Nicholas Domanski, 24, of Sunbury, according to state police at Stonington. Anyone with information is asked to call 570-286-5601.

Strikes deer

PAXINOS - Richard R. Jones, 18, of Coal Township, escaped injury after crashing a 2005 Mercury Montego on southbound Route 61 about 10:40 p.m. Oct. 23. The crash occurred when he struck a deer while rounding a left curve south of Route 487, according to state police at Stonington. He was wearing a seat belt.

Guns stolen

AUGUSTAVILLE - Robert Paul, 54, of 275 Hollow Road, Rockefeller Township, reported to state police at Stonington that multiple unidentified firearms were stolen from his basement between Nov. 24, 2013 and Oct. 26. Anyone with information is asked to call 570-286-5601.

Strikes deer II

SNYDERTOWN - Scott E. McGonnell, 53, of Danville, escaped injury after striking a deer with a 2002 Jeep Liberty on eastbound Snydertown Road about 1 a.m. Oct. 26 in Upper Augusta Township, according to state police at Stonington. The crash occurred near Cold Run Hollow Road. He was wearing a seat belt.

Strikes building

DORNSIFE - Mindy L. Kahler, 46, of Dornsife, escaped injury after crashing a 2010 Ford Fusion on southbound Route 147 Oct. 23 in Lower Mahanoy Township, according to state police at Stonington. Kahler told police she swerved to avoid an another vehicle that had pulled in front of her, causing her to crash into a building. She was wearing a seat belt. Police issued her a citation for violating roadways laned for traffic.

Strikes bank

GOWEN CITY - Audrey D. Kingery, 48, of Shamokin Dam, was injured after crashing a 2007 Hyundai Sonata on southbound Route 125 about 9:50 p.m. Oct. 24 in East Cameron Township, according to state police at Stonington. Police say she lost control while rounding an uphill left curve and struck an embankment. She was wearing a seat belt, and taken to Sunbury Community Hospital for unknown injuries. AREA Services and Trevorton EMS assisted.

Strikes tree

FISHERS FERRY - Marvin L. Schadel, 82, of Millersburg, and Leah L. Witmer, 80, of Millersburg, both escaped injury Sunday after Schadel crashed a 2012 Toyota Prius into a tree that had blown into southbound Route 147 in Lower Augusta Township, according to state police at Stonington. Both were wearing seat belts. Schadel was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Strikes deer

DALMATIA - Matthew R. Druckenmiller, 25, of Millersburg, escaped injury Monday when he struck a deer while driving a 2008 Jeep Patriot north on Route 147 in Lower Mahanoy Township, according to state police at Stonington. The crash occurred about 6:40 p.m. near Toad Valley Road. He was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle was disabled and towed. No citations were filed.

Woman, infant hurt

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - Katherine M. Ramsey, 26, of Elysburg, and her infant daughter suffered injuries in a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon at the intersection of Route 54 and Hickory Grove Road in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Milton said Ramsey was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer east on Route 54 at 3:52 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a left curve, causing her vehicle to exit the highway via the south berm. The Trailblazer then traveled back across both lanes and left the highway via the north berm before striking an embankment.

The vehicle ascended the embankment, struck a fence and began overturning before coming to rest on its four wheels.

Ramsey and her daughter, Mya, were discharged Tuesday from Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, according to a nursing supervisor.

Ramsey was wearing a seat belt, while the infant was in a child safety seat, according to police.

Ramsey was cited for failing to drive in a single lane.

Prison assault

SHAMOKIN - Eric Darnell Weedon, 27, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, was charged by state trooper Ronald Zanella with a felony count of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor count of simple assault after he allegedly attacked correctional officer Nathan D. Kaleta on Jan. 31.

Zanella said the assault occurred as Weedon emerged from his cell. Kaleta suffered abrasions to the forehead, hands and right elbow and bruising below his right eye and ear, police said.

Weedon said he had nothing personal against Kaleta but was upset because he was being transferred away from SCI-Coal Township to another prison and had failed to acquire a job at the new institution, despite filling out numerous job applications, Zanella said in the criminal complaint.

Cage stolen

RANSHAW - Sometime within the past week, a steel overflow cage was stolen from the Shamokin-Coal Township Joint Sewer Authority.

The overflow drain is located off of Route 901 to the rear of DMS disposal. The cage has several holes in it, weighs approximately 300 pounds and is valued at approximately $400.

Door broken

SHAMOKIN - Bryan Seger, 31, of 308 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, was cited with criminal trespassing for entering a building located at 306 S. Fifth St. without permission at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 16.

According to police, the unidentified owner of the property said Seger broke a door and now it does not lock.

Blight citations

SHAMOKIN - The following public nuisance citations were issued as part of the ongoing effort to control blight by code officer Rick Bozza and city police:

- Salvator Daniel Fanelli, of 901 Carolina Beach Ave., Carolina Beach, N.C., for falling slate shingles and damaged wooden eaves on property at 52 N. Market St. Cited at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 and again at 10 p.m. Sunday.

- Cynthia A. Romig, 60, of P.O. Box 632, Shamokin Dam, falling slate shingles, broken glass and windows, unsecured building and interior walls collapsing on a fire-damaged property at 224 W. Arch St. She was cited at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 and again at 10 p.m. Sunday.

- Francis Timpone, 33, of 2667 Gold Key Estates, Milford, for a damaged and deteriorating front porch that is unsecured and in danger of falling from the building on a property at 15 S. Market St. Cited at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 and again at 10 p.m. Sunday.

- Massy Gole for a damaged and deteriorated front porch and roof, collapsing interior walls, rain water damage and unsecured properties at 113 and 115 S. Market St. Gole's address with the tax office is listed as 109-43 116th St., S. Ozone Park, N.Y. Cited at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 and again at 10 p.m. Sunday.

- Leonard F. Adams Jr., 58, of 341 Main St., P.O. Box 20, Aristes, for building, shingles and roof materials falling, a rear porch collapsing, broken glass and high weeds and grass at properties located at 620 and 622 N. Third St. Cited at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 and again at 10 p.m. Sunday.

- Leonard F. Adams III, 34, of 12251 Center St. N., Conneaut Lake, for a porch damaged and collapsing and building, shingles and roof materials falling from properties located at 101 and 103 N. Second St. at properties. Cited at 5 p.m. Oct. 27 and again at 10 p.m. Sunday.

- Stacey L. Adams, 34, of 12251 Center St. N., Conneaut Lake, for building, shingles and roof materials falling from properties located at 101 and 103 N. Second St. Cited at 5 p.m. Oct. 27.

The owners have previously been cited and have not yet made necessary repairs to their properties, police said.

Terroristic threats

RIVERSIDE - Patrolman Kerry Parkes has charged Ryan Joseph Steimling, 24, of Riverside, with terroristic threats, stalking, harassment and disorderly conduct in connection with disturbances at his parents' home at 1 Riverhill Drive, Danville.

Police reported Steimling, who had been removed from his parents' home some time ago, went to the residence several times, banged on the door, trashed the porch by smashing pumpkins and kicking over flower pots, and called and texted his mother hundreds of times, causing her to be afraid to go outside. Steimling also is accused of threatening to burn down the home.

Police said the incidents occurred between Oct. 29 and Oct. 31.

Failure to comply

MOUNT CARMEL - James A. Poe, 45, formerly of 327 S. Oak St., Apt. 1, Mount Carmel, has been charged by Chief of Police Todd Owens with two counts of failing to comply with registration requirements under Megan's Law.

Police said the convicted sex offender fled to New Jersey in August 2013 without notifying authorities.

Home work fraud

PAXINOS - Robert Allen Kolovich, 57, of 385 Susquehanna Road, Northumberland, was charged by Trooper Wendy Keefer of state police at Stonington with home improvement fraud.

Police reported Kolovich, owner of Lifetime Choice Windows, Selinsgrove, entered into a business agreement Sept. 15, 2013, with Douglas Martz, of Paxinos, to install 23 replacement windows on a building owned by Martz at 205 Poppy Road. Police said the agreed upon price was $11,950, with the work to begin five to eight weeks after the agreement was signed.

Police said Martz paid half the cost ($5,975) up front, but the contractor failed to perform any work or return the money despite attempts by Martz to convince him to do so.

Harassment plea

MOUNT CARMEL - Alexa D. Snyder, 49, of 240 S. Vine St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Wednesday to harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a fine and costs totaling $268.

An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Snyder was charged by Chief of Police Todd Owens with assaulting her live-in boyfriend, Jerome Witkowski, on Saturday night at their home.

Charges dismissed

MOUNT CARMEL - Two counts of simple assault and one count each of harassment and disorderly conduct filed by Chief of Police Todd Owens against Jason A. Dillow, 31, of 434 N. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, were dismissed Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones when the alleged victim refused to testify.

Dillow was charged with assaulting his wife, Lisa, at 438 N. Walnut St. on Oct. 18.

Refuses to testify

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of simple assault and harassment filed by Mount Carmel Township Officer Travis Bremigen against Joshua T. Hill, 27, of 328 E. North St., Marion Heights, were dismissed Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones when the alleged victim refused to testify.

Hill was charged with assaulting his brother, Tyler Hill, on Oct. 26 at 328 E. North St., Marion Heights.

Trash dumping

COAL TOWNSHIP - Paul Foulds, 41, of 412 W. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was charged by Coal Township police with scattering rubbish after he was allegedly witnessed dumping several tires in the wooded area behind the Anthra Plaza near Coal Run.

The incident was reported to Coal Township Police Department around 2:15 p.m. Oct. 18.

Contraband

SHAMOKIN - Brandon A. Nixon, 29, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, was charged by state police trooper Ronald Zanella with a felony count of contraband and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance for an incident last year.

According to the criminal complaint, filed Oct. 31, prison staff found a small amount of marijuana in Nixon's possession at 9:50 p.m. Oct. 4, 2013. The marijuana was located inside a petroleum jelly jar wrapped in plastic in Nixon's double occupancy cell. When the marijuana was discovered, Nixon admitted it was his.

Zanella said Nixon told him he found the marijuana in the east yard of the prison beneath a rock he kicked over. He hadn't had a chance to smoke any of the marijuana and had left it in his cell to dry out.

Criminal trespass

SELINSGROVE - Cody Allen Long, 20, of Riverside, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with criminal trespass and criminal mischief relating to an incident at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Walmart north of here.

Police said Long is accused of trespassing at the store and opening several items without paying for them.

Bad check

NATALIE - Jessica Anne Gavin, 37, of Shenandoah, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush with issuing a bad check in the amount of $364.90 to Aaron's Heating Oil in Natalie on Dec. 5, 2012.

Blocks stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Melinda Biehler, of 1154 Pulaski Ave., reported someone removed an undetermined amount of retaining wall blocks from her backyard between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday.

The removal of the blocks caused damage to a set of steps that are part of the wall.

Total damage is estimated at hundreds of dollars.

Building code citations

KULPMONT - Russ Moroz, Kulpmont building code official, has cited the following property owners for code violations:

Stephen J. Burda, of 601 Pine St., for violations of the residential rental housing ordinance at 1040 Chestnut St.

George Atiyeh and Apartments and Acquisitions, of 1102 Fullerton Ave., Allentown, for dangerous structure at 955 and 957 Chestnut St.

Thomas C. Valeiko, of 37 Florida Ave., Commack, N.Y., for a dangerous structure at 1263 Chestnut St.

All citations were issued at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones in Mount Carmel.

Theft

HUMMELS WHARF - Israel Martinez, 32, of Sunbury, is charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property by Trooper Craig V. Magnuson of the Selinsgrove state police station. Martinez is accused of attempting to steal $400.97 in merchandise from Boscov's department store in the Susquehanna Valley Mall at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday. He was stopped by a loss prevention employee.

Theft

HUMMELS WHARF - Chelsea Leigh Troutman, 20, of Kulpmont, is accused of retail theft on Oct. 16 and Friday at Walmart Supercenter, Susquehanna Trail, according to Trooper John D.J. Medrano of the Selinsgrove state police station.

Crash

HERNDON - Thomas J. George, 37, of Montoursville, escaped injury after losing control of a 2011 Ford E350 about 4:50 a.m. Saturday and crashing into a ditch along Route 225, south of Raupstal Road, in Lower Mahanoy Township. He was wearing a seat belt, according to Trooper David Boucher, state police at Stonington.

Harassment

SUNBURY - State police at Stonington says Matt Barnhart, of Riverview Road, has continued to receive unwanted correspondence from unknown persons. No further information was provided.

Burn barrel fire

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township fire personnel responded to a minor burn barrel fire shortly after 2 a.m. Monday at 1746 Mohawk St.

Personnel were at the scene until 2:24 a.m.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a hit-and run accident at 8:52 p.m. Saturday in the second patch of Bear Valley Road.

Police said a blue sport utility vehicle was traveling east on Bear Valley Road toward Shamokin when it exited the road and struck a traffic sign along the eastbound shoulder. The driver then fled east on Bear Valley Road.

Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Route 125 crash

BURNSIDE - No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Saturday morning along Route 125 just south of this Coal Township village.

Patrolman Joshua Wynn said Allie Mace, 17, of 1605 Gap View Road, Dauphin, was traveling south at 2:51 a.m. when her 2011 Ford sedan was rear-ended by a 2013 Ford truck operated by Aaron Tyson, 31, of 4558 Upper Road, Shamokin.

Mace's car spun clockwise and struck an embankment on the southbound side of the road.

Tyson told police he wasn't paying attention while texting, causing his truck to rear-end the car.

Tyson was cited by Wynn for careless driving and texting while driving.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Coal Township police were assisted by Shamokin police, AREA Services Ambulance and Coal Township firefighters.

One-vehicle accident

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - A one-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. Monday afternoon along Sagon Road, State Route 2026, when a Buick LaCrosse driven by Doris Machuzak, left the roadway and glanced off of one tree and hit another head-on before it came to rest down an embankment along the roadway.

According to Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Dan Politza, Machuzak, 138 E. Melrose St., Marion Heights, was traveling west on Sagon Road when a motorist traveling east noticed Machuzak's vehicle swerving. After the witness passed Machuzak, they noticed they could not see her in their rearview mirror.

The witness doubled back and found Machuzak's vehicle down the embankment and called 911. Machuzak was taken by AREA Services to Geisinger, Danville, with head and leg injuries. She was not wearing her seatbelt. The accident closed down Sagon road to through traffic in the area of the accident for approximately one hour while the scene was cleared.

In addition to Mount Carmel Township Police and AREA Services, responding to the scene were Kulpmont East End No.1. The vehicle was recovered and taken from the scene by Joe's Body Shop, Natalie.

Car hits sign, truck

SHAMOKIN - No injuries were reported Monday morning when a car struck a construction sign and a parked and unoccupied 2011 Dodge truck at the intersection of Shamokin and Chestnut streets.

Shamokin police reported Evelyn Madrak, 17, of Shamokin, was driving a 1995 Pontiac north on Shamokin Street at 7:20 a.m. when she couldn't see out of her windshield due to ice that wasn't properly cleared off. Madrak's auto hit the sign and front of the truck owned by Brubacher Excavating, Bowmansville, which was conducting work in the first block of North Shamokin Street.

Neither vehicle required towing.

An investigation is continuing.

Cpl. Bryan Primerano and Patrolman Nathan Rhodes responded.

Two injured

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Two women were injured Monday afternoon in an accident at the intersection of Snydertown Road and Black Mill Road.

Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington reported Angel J. Clark, 31, of Kulpmont, was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla east on Snydertown Road at 4:10 p.m. when Amber K. Reed, 21, of Sunbury, who was operating a 2000 Dodge Stratus west, attempted to turn left onto Black Mill Road. Police said Reed pulled her car directly into the path of Clark's auto, resulting in a collision.

Clark was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, while Reed was taken by Americus Ambulance to Sunbury Community Hospital. Both women suffered moderate injuries.

Police said Reed, who was not wearing a seat belt, was cited for a left turn violation.

Clark was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Also assisting were fire and rescue personnel from Upper Augusta Township and members of Friendship Hose Company in Sunbury.

Terroristic threats

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child and harassment were filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch against James Thomas Faust, 27, of 134 S. Plum St., Mount Carmel, involving a Sept. 3 domestic disturbance.

According to a criminal complaint, Faust is accused of pushing his wife, Tricia Wyman, against a refrigerator during an argument, punching her in the face and threatening to cut her throat while pulling out a pocket knife. Police said Wyman was able to flee to a neighbor's home.

Faust left the home with their 2-year-old son in a vehicle before stopping the vehicle up the street and leaving the child standing in the 100 block of South Plum Street, police allege.

The defendant was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and was able to post $5,000 bail.

Later in the day, Faust pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $468.20. Charges of simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child and terroristic threats were withdrawn by the commonwealth after Wyman refused to testify against her husband.

Ambulance theft

SELINSGROVE - Police are searching for an unknown male who attempted to steal from an ambulance around midnight Tuesday in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, Monroe Township.

State police said a DH&L ambulance responded to a patient inside Dunkin Donuts. When one of the ambulance members exited the business, he saw the suspect in the parking lot holding a blue bag he took from inside the ambulance. He yelled to the suspect, who dropped the bag and ran.

The suspect is a 5-foot 10-inch tall white male. He was wearing a white long-sleeve shirt and khaki pants at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call state police in Selinsgrove at 570-374-8145.

License plate forgery

MOUNT CARMEL - Cody C. Strunk, 30, of 340 E. Third St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Chief of Police Todd Owens with stealing a registration plate from a vehicle owned by William Ahrensfield between Oct. 11 and 17 in the 300 block of East Third Street.

Strunk was charged with forging or altering a plate, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft from a motor vehicle, unauthorized use or transfer of registration and fraudulent use or removal of a registration plate.

Strunk was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $40,000 bail.

Police said Strunk led them on a two-hour foot chase through the borough Nov. 6 when Constable Larry Rompollo attempted to serve a warrant for his arrest related to the vehicle registration charges. Rompollo suffered minor injuries in the incident, police said previously.

Pastime Club cited

SHAMOKIN - Citations were issued against the Pastime Club, 17-19 N. Market St., Shamokin, on Nov. 6.

Officers from the State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement's Montoursville's office say the establishment failed to maintain a certified copy or photocopy of the organization's charter on the premises and failed to post signage pertaining to smoking as required by the Clean Indoor Air Act.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge, who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charges. The judge can also mandate training for the licensee in an effort to educate on the requirements of being a licensee.

Public drunkenness

COAL TOWNSHIP - Frederick Hartman III, 33, of 35 Sherman St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with public drunkenness relating to a disturbance at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Anthra Plaza.

Police said Hartman was under the influence of a controlled substance in the parking lot and running in and out of stores, causing employees to be alarmed.

Computer tablet stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here reported someone stole a gray Toshiba Thrive computer tablet with a crack in the screen from 1720 Maple Ave. between noon and 5 p.m. Friday.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call police at 644-0333.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Tammy Gonzalez, 50, of 514 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness relating to an Oct. 31 incident at Adams and Diamond streets.

Police said Gonzalez was found hiding from police in the bushes in a private yard at 11:30 p.m. after being involved in an incident.

Domestic assault

SHAMOKIN - A couple were charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II in connection with a domestic disturbance Wednesday afternoon.

Jessica Renee Shelbert, 24, and Joseph A. Martinelli, 26, both of 605 N. Second St., Shamokin, are charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment relating to the 1:36 p.m. incident.

Shelbert is accused of hitting her boyfriend in the face, causing a laceration, bleeding and redness to his right forehead. She also allegedly scratched Martinelli in the chest, causing small lacerations and bleeding.

Martinelli is accused of shoving Shelbert, grabbing her by the arms and choking her, causing pain and redness.

Shelbert and Martinelli were detained overnight in a holding cell at Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury before being arraigned at 11 a.m. Thursday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, who released each of them on $2,500 bail.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Whitney Bostian, 23, of 1013 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, is charged by Coal Township police with retail theft for under-ringing several products while going through the self-checkout line at Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Oct. 8. The total amount of products was $47.36.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Lynn Adams, 42, of 400 S. Bay St., Coal Township, is charged by Coal Township police with retail theft for concealing merchandise valued at $90.34 and attempting to leave Walmart Supercenter without paying for the items Oct. 2.

Pump stolen

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - April Ortega, 40, of Kulpmont, was cited by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Brian Carnuccio for disorderly conduct following an incident at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday at the Mount Carmel Area Junior/Senior High School.

Police said Ortega was making unreasonable noise, screaming and yelling in the principal's office. When the officer told Ortega to calm down, she allegedly started using obscene language at Carnuccio and in front of students and staff in the office.

Code violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - Code enforcement officer Chris Petrovich cited Kayla Shaffer, of 1829 Trevorton Road, Nov. 12 and 13 for violating the township ordinances on accumulation of garbage on the side porch and rear yard and having high brush, grass and weeds exceeding the maximum height of six inches.

Keys found

COAL TOWNSHIP - A set of keys was found Thursday in the area of the Springfield playground. They can be claimed at the Coal Township Police Station between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

False alarms

MONROE TOWNSHIP - The Budget Bakery, of 2558 N. Susquehanna Trail, Monroe Township, was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for having more than three false alarms at its establishment within a six-month period, the last one occurred at 7:10 a.m. Friday.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Police charged Angel Lopez, 25, and Bobbijo Lopez, 36, both of 148 W. Avenue, with drug offenses following an investigation by borough police and members of the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force, Nov. 9.

According to court documents, borough Police Chief Todd Owens and officer Matthew Dillman reported a confidential informant said Angel Lopez was selling marijuana from his residence. The officers set up a buy, during which the informant purchased a quarter-bag of marijuana for $40.

After getting a search warrant for the residence, police entered and found marijuana on the dining room table, Bobbijo's wallet containing the buy money, a green spring-loaded knife and a smoking pipe.

Both individuals were charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, criminal conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of prohibited offensive weapons and criminal conspiracy to possess a controlled substance. Angel Lopez also faces charges of delivery of a controlled substance, and criminal use of a communication facility.

Both were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $50,000 bail. Preliminary hearings for both are scheduled for Wednesday.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Daniel F. Karpinski Jr., 46, of 500 S. Market St., was cited for criminal mischief and harassment by Shamokin City Police Chief Darwin Tobias. According to police, Karpinski allegedly broke a window at the home of Jason Carl on West Adams Street at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday and then threatened Carl and his family.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Tracy Shook, 44, of Girardville, was charged by Coal Township police with misdemeanor retail theft after police said she stole $384.40 in merchandise Oct. 18 at Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township.

DUI

KULPMONT - John A. Maturani, 36, of 72 Peach Branch Rd., Benton, was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and driving on one-way roadways based on a traffic stop on Pine Street, Kulpmont, Feb. 27.

According to court documents filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Joshua Pastucka, Maturani was seen swerving into the opposite lane of the highway while he traveled through Natalie, Marion Heights and Kulpmont. He eventually stopped the vehicle after traveling in the wrong direction on a one-way street in Kulpmont.

Police said Maturani failed field sobriety tests and chemical testing showed his blood alcohol level to be .176 percent.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Police charged Jonathan M. Mazak, 32, of 29 S. Spruce St., with two counts of simple assault, and harassment following an incident at the Spruce Street residence Aug. 9.

According to court documents filed by borough police officer Jason Drumheller, a 13-year-old girl showed a neighbor bruises on her leg from an incident that occurred the night prior. The teen told the neighbor her mother's boyfriend, Mazak, threw a boot at her and struck her in the right thigh, causing the bruise, police said. Mazak told police the girl was "mouthing off" and he was trying to get her attention by throwing a boot, which accidently struck her.

On Oct. 13, the 13-year-old arrived at the station with her father. She told police she had been arguing with her brother and chased him out of the house into the street. She said Mazak began yelling at her and threw a steel-toe boot at her, causing the bruise.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17 on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

SUNBURY - Six defendants were sentenced Monday on various charges in Northumberland County Court.

- Mark Melnick, 27, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by President Judge William Wiest to one year of intermediate punishment with the first 30 days on house arrest for tampering with evidence relating to a March 2, 2013, incident in Mount Carmel Township. He also was ordered to pay fines totaling $1,400 plus costs.

In connection with the same incident, Melnick was sentenced to six months of intermediate punishment with the first three days on house arrest for a DUI offense, which runs concurrent to the sentence imposed on the tampering charge. He also was ordered to pay costs for driving under suspension.

- Joseph Bucanelli IV, 42, of Elysburg, was sentenced by Wiest to 16 months of intermediate punishment with the first 90 days on house arrest and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine plus costs for driving under the influence of alcohol. The charge was filed by state police at Stonington in connection with a Sept. 30, 2012, incident in Coal Township.

- Christian Scipio, 45, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Wiest to two years probation and ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs for recklessly endangering another person. He also was ordered to pay costs on charges of reckless driving and discharging a firearm and must undergo a mental health evaluation.

The charges filed by Mount Carmel police relate to incidents Aug. 5, 2011.

- Joseph McGinley, 50, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Wiest to six months of intermediate punishment with the first 30 days on house arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol June 25, 2013, in Mount Carmel Township. McGinley must pay a $300 fine plus costs.

- Judge Charles Saylor sentenced Trudi Zeigler, 46, of Danville, to five years of intermediate punishment with the first 90 days on house arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol. Zeigler must pay a $1,500 fine plus costs and make restitution of $740 to Timothy Karr.

Zeigler was charged by Riverside police in connection with a May 15 incident.

- Saylor also sentenced William McCollum, 34, of Shamokin, to two days to six months in Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury for driving under the influence of alcohol involving a March 9 incident in Shamokin. McCollum, who was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs, will begin his sentence Nov. 22.

He was charged by state police at Stonington.

Gas theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - A Shamokin man faces theft charges for allegedly stealing $25 worth of gas from a local service station.

According to court documents, Coal Township Police Officer Chad Yoder reported David Seger, 54, of 1026 E. Packer St., Shamokin, received $25 in gas in his vehicle at Miller's Gas Station on Route 61, Coal Township June 16. When the attended asked for payment, Seger said he didn't have the money but promised to go and get it. The attendant asked for his registration and insurance cards as collateral, and Seger provided them, but never returned.

Seger was arraigned Monday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin, and released on $2,500 unsecured bail on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 25.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Candace Bucher, 32, of Kulpmont, was charged by Coal Township Police with misdemeanor retail theft after police said she stole $29.10 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Oct. 31.

Bucher was also charged by Coal Township police with misdemeanor retail theft after police said she under-rang $8.44 in merchandise Oct. 28.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - Bryan S. Shedaker, 30, an inmate at SCI Coal Township, was sentenced to 12 months probation and to pay a $500 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia in a preliminary hearing Thursday.

Shedaker was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Officer Kelly Campbell after a probation visit to a home at 149 E. Saylor St., Atlas, June 10.

Charges of hindering prosecution, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance were withdrawn in the case.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Julie Nairns, 39, of Coal Township, was charged with a felony count of retail theft after Coal Township police said she stole $1,307.92 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Nov. 15.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Grant I. Shelley Jr., 58, of 113 Berry St., Coal Township, was cited for disorderly conduct by Shamokin City Police patrolman Raymond Siko II after an incident at 5:10 p.m. Friday when he allegedly interfered with the police's efforts to apprehend a female in the 200 block of South Franklin Street.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Roger A. Kramer, 21, of 104 S. Peach St., was charged by Borough Police Chief Todd Owens with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly pushed and threatened his father, Roger A. Kramer Sr., during an Oct. 27 incident at his residence.

A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for Dec. 17 before Magistrate District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 16-year-old male from Shamokin was cited for retail theft after Coal Township police said he removed a Bluetooth jam speaker from its package and attempted to leave Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township without paying the full retail value of $49.88 at 9:55 p.m. Nov. 14.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Tammy Gonzalez, 50, of 514 S. Diamond St., was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle. Police said Gonzalez was found lying in the bushes of a private property at Diamond and Adams street and was under the influence of alcohol at 11:26 p.m. Oct. 31.

DUI

STRONG - Joseph M. Sweeney, 53, of 26 N. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged with driving under the influence, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and careless driving following a traffic stop near the intersections of Routes 54 and 61 at 2 a.m. July 20.

Mount Carmel Township Police Officer Keith Tamborelli reported in court documents he was out on patrol when he observed Sweeney travel off the right shoulder of the roadway after exiting the Viaduct bridge from Mount Carmel borough. After a traffic stop, police attempted to give Sweeney field sobriety tests, but stopped for his safety.

Chemical blood testing at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital showed his blood alcohol level was .235 percent.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Sarah McGinley, 27, of Kulpmont, was cited for retail theft after Coal Township police said she stole $132.37 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Sept. 6.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Diana Lentini, 54, of Kulpmont, was cited with retail theft after Coal Township police said she stole $76.76 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter in Coal Township Oct. 7.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kevin Buch, 20, of Trevorton, and Sabrina Maisey, 19, of Coal Township, were cited for retail theft after Coal Township police said they stole $144.88 in merchandise Aug. 28.

Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old male from Coal Township was charged with harassment after an incident Oct. 31 during a football game at Kemp Memorial Stadium.

According to Coal Township Police, the unidentified male threatened and harassed Judy Eby, 47, who is a teacher's aide for the Shamokin Area School District. Police said the male was yelling obscenities at Eby. On Nov. 4 and 6, while Eby was instructing the male at the vocational school, the male used obscenities at Eby and threatened her.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - John Stine, 29, of 192 "B" Bear Gap Road, Elysburg, owner of Reliable Services, was charged with scattering rubbish after several bags of garbage were located in the Big Mountain area of Coal Township Nov. 14.

Crash at Walmart

COAL TOWNSHIP - Five people were taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at the entrance to Walmart Supercenter along Route 61.

According to Coal Township police, Penny Lindenmuth, 51, of Ashland, was attempting to turn left from the northbound lanes into the store's parking lot when her vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, was struck by an oncoming 1996 GMC Suburban driven by Daniel Boyd, 54, of Coal Township. The crash occurred at 7:25 p.m.

Lindenmuth and passengers Clayton Knorr, 32, of Ashland, Danricia Ramsay, 21, of Shamokin, and a 13-year-old Ashland girl were all taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Boyd also was transported to G-SACH. There were two passengers in his vehicle: Chastity Beery, 38, of Coal Township, and a 10-year-old girl.

The crash remains under investigation. Both vehicles were towed. Assisting at the scene were members of the Brady Fire Co. and Coal Township Fire Department, AREA Services, Elysburg Ambulance, Zerbe Township Ambulance and Coal Township Fire Police.

PFA violation

SUNBURY - James H. Latshaw, 48, of 126 E. Arch St., Shamokin, was remanded to Northumberland County Prison Wednesday for violating a protection from abuse by making contact with Jennifer Geiser.

Northumberland County Judge Charles H. Saylor ordered Latshaw, already a county inmate, to an additional 30 days for indirect criminal contempt. He was fined $300 and must pay related court costs.

Latshaw is held on multiple charges in five separate cases, including flight to avoid apprehension and theft. His bail was lowered by Saylor to a combined $45,000.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Two defendants entered guilty pleas earlier this week.

Daren Albertson, 26, of 217 Third St., Ranshaw, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs and was placed on probation for nine months.

Albertson was charged by Coal Township Cpl. Joshua Wynn in connection with a Sept. 27 incident on Route 61 in Luke Fidler.

Amanda M. Lotis, 31, of 137 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a fine and costs totaling $268. Additional charges of criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.

Lotis was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski with conspiring with Jody Valentine Foulke, of Elysburg, to steal cans from a storage bin outside the Mount Carmel Elks, 128 N. Oak St., on Oct. 14.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Cody Z. Horne, 19, of 221 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly assaulted his mother, Janet Willis, at their home Monday afternoon.

Police reported Horne is accused of shoving Willis with both hands against a kitchen sink, causing a chest injury. Police said Willis also experienced trouble breathing.

Willis, who claimed Horne eats all the food in the house and smokes all her cigarettes, told police her son smashed items inside the home and threatened to beat her.

Horne was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

Multiple charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Bryan A. Olimpo, 24, of 5 N. Sport Lane, Locust Gap, has been charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with altering or forging a registration plate, driving under suspension, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license, driving without proper registration, failing to wear protective equipment while operating a motorcycle and driving without insurance.

The charges relate to a Sept. 19 incident on Locust Gap Highway.

Police said Olimpo admitted smoking marijuana and injecting himself with Subutex. Olimpo refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test.

Code violations

SHAMOKIN - The owners of several blighted properties in Shamokin were cited Wednesday by City police Cpl. Bryan Primerano for failing to fix their structures. All the property owners were previously sent a certified code letter advising them of the code violations, with no response or corrections made, Primerano said, and were cited three previous times by city code officer Rick Bozza, also with no response.

KULPMONT - Dylan Blum, 22, of 412 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 2-4, Kulpmont, was charged by Chief of Police Michael Pitcavage with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a red light violation and failure to drive in a single lane.

Police said Blum was observed driving erratically in Kulpmont and Coal Township on Aug. 27 and was stopped in the 400 block of Chestnut Street in Kulpmont.

Police reported Blum had heroin, codeine and morphine in his blood system.

Strikes man

MOUNT CARMEL - Monique L. Korte, 32, of 429 N. Market St., was cited with harassment by Lt. Christopher Buhay. Police say she struck Derek Bair in the face about 10:50 a.m. Nov. 2.

Driving under suspension

LOCUST GAP - Ronald W. Goepfert, 33, of Shamokin, was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski with false identification to police, driving under suspension, speeding and failing to properly fasten a young child in a booster seat.

The charges relate to a Nov. 11 incident along Route 901 in Locust Gap.

DUI offenses

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Filarski has charged Michael J. Allem, 51, of Pennsburg, with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and driving at an unsafe speed involving a May 10 traffic stop at the intersection of Routes 2034 and 54.

Police reported marijuana, cocaine, metabolites and cyclobenzaprine were found in Allem's blood system.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Shane D. Long, 22, of 514 E. Fifth St., was cited for public drunkenness by Patrolman Matthew Dillman. Police said Long was intoxicated and vomiting about 3:30 a.m. Nov. 1 in the first block of North Oak Street.

False alarms

MOUNT CARMEL - Nicholas Rodriguez, 43, of 412 S. Market St., was cited both Nov. 1 and Nov. 11 for allowing his home alarm to repeatedly auto dial emergency services, according to police. The citations were filed by Lt. Christopher Buhay and Patrolman Matthew Dillman.

Dog at large

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph L. Pearson, 70, of 217 E. Avenue, was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay with dogs running at large for allegedly allowing his dog to run free about 11:30 a.m. Nov. 2.

Disorderly behavior

MOUNT CARMEL - A 15-year-old Ashland male was cited with disorderly conduct by Cpl. David Donkochik for a disturbance at Fourth and Willow streets about 8 p.m. Oct. 30.

MOUNT CARMEL - Zachary J. McGinley, 25, of 219 S. Chestnut St., was cited with criminal mischief by Patrolman Justin Stelma. Police said he punched and damaged a vehicle owned by Jarad Smith about 1 p.m. Nov. 8 in the 200 block of South Market Street.

Theft citation

MOUNT CARMEL - Wilburn H. Denman, 46, of 50 N. Maple St., was cited with retail theft by Patrolman Justin Stelma. Police said he stole $13.99 in merchandise from Scicchitano Ace Hardware about 11 a.m. Nov. 11.

Dumps trash

MOUNT CARMEL - Marie E. McWilliams, 25, of 309 N. Maple St., was cited for scattering rubbish by Patrolman Justin Stelma. Police said she dumped household trash near Fourth and Oak streets about 8 a.m. Nov. 17.

Kids fight

MOUNT CARMEL - Boys 12 and 14 years old from Mount Carmel were cited by Patrolman Justin Stelma with harassment for hitting each other about 5:30 p.m. Nov. 6.

Smashes items

MOUNT CARMEL - James Alexander Johnson, 29, was cited with harassment by Chief Todd Owens. Police said he smashed items inside 106 W. Avenue about 12:45 p.m. Nov. 4, and grabbed the arm of his girlfriend, 30-year-old Sarah Jane Williams, causing bruising.

Driver cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jennifer L. Roth, 46, of 621 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was cited by Coal Township police for operating a 1993 Chevy truck without valid insurance coverage relating to an Oct. 31 accident on School House Lane near Kemp Memorial Stadium.

Police said Roth was traveling east when her truck struck a 2013 Toyota sedan operated by Kenneth Yoder, 63, of 213 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, as Yoder was in the stadium parking lot waiting to pull onto School House Lane.

No injuries were reported and no towing was required.

LCB violations

SUNBURY - The Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited Goodwill Hose Co. Inc., 500 Reagan St., Sunbury, for failing to maintain complete and truthful records covering business operations for a period of two years immediately preceding Oct. 16, concerning the local option of Small Games of Chance Act.

The citation was issued Nov. 13.

On Thursday, the bureau cited Brewers Outlet, 231 Reagan St., Sunbury, for sales to minors.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.

Burglary charges

TOWER CITY - Bradley Merwine, 35, of Donaldson, and Jeff Leach, 34, of Coal Township, have been charged by state police at Schuylkill Haven with burglary-related offenses in connection with a break-in at a garage owned by Robert Madenford, 43, of Tower City.

Police said Merwine and Leach are accused of gaining entry into the garage at 253 Main St. between 8 p.m. July 4 and 1 p.m. July 5 and stealing several tools, including a Bostich air-powered roofing nailer, a black air compressor with two wheels, a blue and silver Campbell Hausfeld ½-inch air-powered impact wrench, a blue and silver Campbell Hausfeld ½-inch air-powered ratchet, a yellow electric stick welder, a diamond-plated tool box and a Black and Decker 3.5-amp variable speed jigsaw.

Police said the burglars fled on foot through a wooded trail with the stolen items that were eventually brought to 288 Main St. and hidden in several locations on the property.

As of Friday, the yellow electric welder, black air compressor and variable speed jigsaw have been recovered.

Burglary

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported someone stole a bag containing approximately $900 worth of hunting supplies owned by Randall Rebuck, 61, of Sunbury, from W.H. Troup Road between Nov. 16 and Thursday.

DUI

LOST CREEK - Michell M. Houtz, 40, of Ashland, was charged by state police at Frackville with driving under the influence of alcohol relating to a traffic stop at 11:10 p.m. Friday on Route 54 in this Schuylkill County village.

Sobriety checkpoints

COAL TOWNSHIP - The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group and Coal Township police announced roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints will be conducted this week on Routes 61, 225, 125, 54, 487, 901 and 147 or other connecting roadways to municipalities.

Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by dialing 911. To report underage drinking, call 1-888-under-21.

The roving patrols and checkpoints are funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and National Highway Safety Administration.
