Drug charges filed

MOUNT CARMEL - Members of the Northumberland Montour Drug Task Force and Mount Carmel Borough Police Department charged Michelle M. Brown, 54, of 12 N. Walnut St., with three counts each of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and one charge each of criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communications facility after an investigation into a June 10 incident at her residence.

According to court documents filed by Chief Todd Owens and Patrolman Matthew Dillman, Police used confidential informants to purchase heroin and Percocet from Brown on that date.

She was arraigned June 25 and released on $20,000 unsecured bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 16 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Fine issued

MOUNT CARMEL - Hassan Quarles, 47, of 901 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was sentenced to pay fines and court costs totaling $514.60 after he pleaded guilty to a summary offense of harassment during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones of Mount Carmel June 25.

Quarles was charged in an April 11 incident when he allegedly made unwanted advances and kissed a 16-year-old female without her consent.

A charge of corruption of minors was withdrawn in the case.

Public nuisance

SHAMOKIN - Russell Kolody, 82, of 603 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, was cited twice by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for allowing several of his properties to be in danger of collapsing.

Primerano cited Kolody for having broken glass, unsecure roofs and shingles falling from roofs of properties he owns at 603, 605, 607, 609, 611, 613 and 615 W. Mulberry St. and at 442 W. Mulberry St. The citations were issued June 26.

Aggravated assault

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington continue to investigate an aggravated assault against a jogger on Pine Hill Road Tuesday.

Police report the runner, a 45-year-old female, was running between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. when she was approached by a white full-sized Dodge pickup truck. The woman told police someone in the truck attempted to grab her. The female ran away and the truck fled north on Pine Hill Road.

The truck is a four-door truck with extended mirrors. Police said the driver was described as a male in his late 20s or 30s, with light brown hair and possibly a mustache and chin hair. Anyone with information on the truck or driver is asked to contact police at 570-286-5601.

Aggravated assault

ASHLAND - A borough woman faces two separate set of charges following an incident at her Brock Street residence at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Ashland Borough Police report they were called to the home of Kathleen M. Grosser, 44, of 722 Brock St., after Grosser allegedly tried to cause bodily injury to an employee of Schuylkill County Children and Youth Services.

Grosser left before police arrived, but a short time later, authorities were called to South Hoffman Boulevard where Grosser was reported walking in the middle of the state highway and was nearly struck by a truck. She again fled before police arrived, but was apprehended in the 500 block of Walnut Street. According to police, Grosser resisted arrest before being handcuffed.

She was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale of Frackville and charged with a felony charge of aggravated assault and a citation for harassment.

Grosser was released on $10,000 unsecured bail, but Ashland police filed charges on her for the second incident, which included a misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and citation for obstructing highways and disorderly conduct. Preliminary hearings on both sets of charges will be held before Hale July 30.

Toilet explosion

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - An unknown actor caused damage to a portable toilet at the sports complex on Dairy Road between June 28 and July 3, when, according to police, a firework was set off, causing approximately $400 in damage to the toilet, which is owned by PA Environmental Solutions, Inc., of Dalmatia.

Grate theft

DORNSIFE - An unknown actor removed four metal floor drain grates from a business between 5 p.m. July 1 and 8:30 a.m. July 2.

State police said the drains, valued at $265, were removed from a car wash owned by Mark Leroy Howerter, 73, of Herndon. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 570-286-5601.

Vehicle stolen

RIVERSIDE - Andrew H. Fray, 52, of Riverside, reported to state police at Stonington his 2001 Saab 95 vehicle was stolen while it was parked on North D and H Avenue between 3 and 6 a.m. Thursday. The vehicle is dark grey in color and has a black bike rack.

Criminal mischief

LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington report someone caused approximately $900 in damage to a soda vending machine at Susquehanna Railworks, Route 147, between 12:01 a.m. and noon Thursday.

One vehicle crash

KULPMONT - The investigation continues into a one-car crash at 6:35 p.m. Friday on Chestnut and Ninth streets.

State police at Stonington report a 2012 Nissan Sentra, driven by Kevin G. Wascavage, 34, of Auburn, was traveling south on Chestnut Street when, for an unknown reason, he veered off the roadway and entered the sidewalk, striking a traffic sign. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway. Police said Wascavage left the scene.

Charges are pending, and police said they suspect alcohol played a role in the accident.

Two-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - Three people were injured in a crash at 12:40 p.m. Saturday on Route 61 near the Ames Plaza intersection.

Township Police said a 2000 Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck, operated by Stanley J. Moser, 43, of 119 N. Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was traveling north on Route 61 and allegedly failed to stop at a red light at the intersection. When he went through the intersection, the truck hit a 2012 Jeep Patriot, driven by Elizabeth Hepler, 88, of 607 McKnight St., Gordon, who was proceeding from the jug handle to turn left onto Route 61 south.

Both drivers and Hepler's passenger, Norman Mallams, 88, also of 607 McKnight St., Gordon, were transported by AREA Services ambulance for treatment: Moser to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital and Hepler and Mallams to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. All three were treated and released. Both vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Moser's vehicle is owned by Thomas and Anna Moser, of Main Street, Locust Gap.

Police report Moser will be cited for a red light violation. Assisting police were members of the Coal Township Fire Department and traffic was detoured around the scene for approximately 30 minutes.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Eric Smith, 42, of 209 S. Franklin St., was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment by Patrolman Scott Weaver following a fight with Ryan Kirchoff at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of South Franklin Street.

Police said that Smith struck Kirchoff in the face and head, causing injury.

Drug charges filed

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jesika L. McCann, 22, of Pearl Street, Shamokin, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was found with a smoking pipe and the synthetic marijuana "Spice" on Big Mountain Road, Coal Township, June 28.

Cited for alcohol

SHAMOKIN - Laura Wolf, 19, of 1505 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was cited for underage purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of alcohol after an incident at 9:37 p.m. Saturday in the 100 block of East Cameron Street.

City Police Patrolman Nathan Rhodes reported that Wolf was found with seven unopened cans of beer in her backpack.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Daniel Long, owner of Blue Ridge Mining, reported damage was done to two pieces of heavy equipment at the work site south of the village of Burnside sometime between 3 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Township police say that windows were smashed out on the equipment, with an estimated cost to repair the damages was listed at $2,000. Video surveillance cameras were in place during the time the damage was done, and after the video is reviewed, charges will be pending.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Scott Weaver cited Dylan McNaughton, 29, of 350 S. Market St., for disorderly conduct after McNaughton was seen urinating in public in the area of Eighth and Independence streets at 1:35 a.m. Saturday.

Threat made

ASHLAND - Angela Boylan, 28, of 912 Walnut St. was cited for disorderly conduct after she allegedly threatened to kill Gary Geist during an incident at her residence at 10:25 a.m. June 26. Borough police chief Mark O'Hearn filed the citation with Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville.

Vandalism

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police report that sometime between Friday and Sunday, someone drove around the Vo-tech ball field, causing damage. Police said the investigation is continuing.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Raymond Siko cited Janet Willis, 58, of 221 S. Diamond St. with harassment following an incident at her residence at 10:22 a.m. Sunday.

Police said that Willis allegedly shoved, struck in the face and pulled hair from the head of Theresa Dunkle, 40, of Shamokin.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Melissa Fritchey, 36, of 17 E. Church St., Shamokin, was cited for public drunkenness after an incident at 2:16 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North Shamokin Street, according to city police Patrolman Raymond Siko III

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Fernando Vazquez, 31, of 232 S. First St., Coal Township, was cited for disorderly conduct after vomiting on a city street without cleaning it up at 1:45 a.m. Saturday on East Independence Street. The vomiting came due to alcohol, according to city police Patrolman Scott Weaver, who filed the citation.

Code violations

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township code enforcement officer Chris Petrovich has filed the following citations:

- James F. Gribbin Jr., and Bobbie Luddy, both of 1131 E. Webster St., cited July 1 for violating two township ordinances at their property at 1133 E. Webster St. They were cited for renting out the residence without an occupancy permit and failing to report the status of the occupancy within 10 days of a change.

- George Atiyeh, owner of Apartments and Acquisitions LP) 1102 Fullerton Avenue, Allentown, was cited July 2 for violating the township ordinance for high grass, brush and weeds at a property at 1234 Chemung St.

- Charles Clark, of 8841 Old Dumfries Road, Catlett, Va., was cited July 2 for violating the township ordinance for high grass, brush and weeds at a property at 1257 Trevorton Road, Coal Township.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Three defendants pleaded guilty Tuesday and were each ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs.

Francis Devizia, 47, of Hawley, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct involving an Aug. 28, 2012, incident at a vacant property at 416 N. Shamokin St. owned by Northumberland County. Charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass were withdrawn.

Devizia was charged by Shamokin Patrolman William Miner with breaking into the house one day before the property was scheduled to go up for sale. Police said Devizia broke a lock on the property.

Albert Scicchitano, 52, of Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia.

Scicchitano was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell in connection with a May 7 incident at 69 S. Oak St.

Robert L. Villari Jr., 27, of Coal Township, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition to the fine and costs, Villari also was placed on supervised probation for one year.

Villari was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga relating to a June 2 incident at 1465 Pulaski Ave.

One hurt in crash

SHAMOKIN - A Shamokin RD man is in stable condition after a two-car crash at 2 p.m. Monday on the 400 block of Sunbury Street.

Shamokin City Police Patrolman Shane Mowery said a vehicle driven by Louise Putnam, 74, of Shamokin, was facing east on Sunbury Street and stopped at a red light when an SUV, driven by Myron Wagner, 63, of Shamokin RD, was traveling west on Sunbury Street and passed through a red light. The vehicles collided and each was damaged on the driver's side.

Wagner's vehicle continued forward, jumping onto the sidewalk and striking a street sign and telephone pole before stopping against an apartment building at 405 E. Sunbury St.

Wagner was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon. Putnam and Wagner's two passengers were not injured. Police said the investigation into the accident is continuing.

Found dog

STONINGTON - Pennsylvania State Police found a large brown/red boxer/boxer mix dog wandering on Route 61 at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone who lost a similar dog is asked to contact police at 570-286-5601.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Jason O'Hara, 40, of 426 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, was cited for retail theft and disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred at 3:38 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Weis Markets, Shamokin.

According to city police, O'Hara alarmed patrons by yelling to "bring me small children" while trying to eat frozen meat. Additionally, he took a patron's cart, moved items, yelled at people and ordered lunch meat that he did not take. He opened chicken and whipped cream, making them unavailable for resale and did not pay for them.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - Three people were arrested for the purchase, consumption, possession or transportation of alcoholic beverages for an incident that occurred at 12:51 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Third and Pine Streets, Shamokin.

City police said preliminary breath tests revealed Hayla Orme, 18, of 13 Gold St., Shamokin, had a blood alcohol content of .129 and Brody Young, 19, of 1637 E. Webster St., Coal Township, had a blood alcohol content of .102. A 17-year-old Shamokin girl was riding in a vehicle that was transporting alcohol.

Drug paraphernalia

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jeffrey L. Smith, 25, of 1429 W. Pine St., Coal Township, was cited with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident that occurred on July 3.

Patrolman Matthew Henrich of the Coal Township police department said he arrived at Smith's house for an overdose call to find Smith lying on a mattress and having difficulty breathing. While emergency medical personnel were attending to Smith, he noticed a blue wax package commonly used to package heroin located on the garage floor. He also found several cigarette boxes laying on the garage floor containing additional blue wax packages. Smith admitted he was the owner of the packages.

Henrich attempted to locate the needle used prior to the overdose, and Smith said it was located under the cushion of a green chair he was sitting on. Henrich lifted the cushion and found three syringes commonly used to inject heroin, additional blue wax packages and an empty box of cigarettes. Smith admitted to owning these items.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III is set for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 19.

Theft

SHAMOKIN - Jerry Adrey Jr., 44, of 536 South St., Mahanoy City, was cited with a misdemeanor count of theft by unlawful taking for an incident June 24 in the 500 block of North Shamokin Street.

City police said two suspicious males were reported to be tampering with a soda machine. The caller who reported the incident videotaped the incident, which showed one of the males opening the soda machine and rummaging through it. After the caller confronted the males, they fled on foot toward Independence Street.

The caller then saw one of the males, whom he identified as the one who opened the soda machine, walking north on Shamokin Street and eating an ice pop. The suspect entered a blue Volkswagen Jetta, which the caller photographed with the license plate visible. The caller said the males may have visited a food mart.

Police obtained video surveillance of the food mart, and the caller identified the male as the same man who tampered with the soda machine. Police used the plate number of the Jetta to identify its owner as Adrey, and matched him to the surveillance video. The operator of the machine said it had at least $50 in it at the time of the theft.

Throwing boards with nails at cars

SHAMOKIN - Shawn Jeremy Wondoloski, 38, of 450 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was charged with misdemeanor counts of propulsion of missiles from overpasses or bridges, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct for an incident occurring at 308 S. Shamokin St. June 23.

City police said a victim saw Wondoloski throw a board containing exposed nails into the path of vehicles. One such board was struck by the victim's front driver side tire, causing damage to the tire and causing the tire to deflate.

Wondoloski admitted to throwing the board in front of the victim's car and said it was because he is "sick and tired of the vehicles driving fast in the area of his house." He told police there is nothing done about vehicles driving fast in the neighborhood so he had taken matters into his own hands, and that he will do the same thing again if he has to.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Darnel Roque, 33, of 813 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was cited with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and summary offenses of driving without insurance and careless driving for an incident June 16 in the 100 block of South Market Street.

City police found Roque standing at the rear of his black sports car, which witness saw strike three parked vehicles. Roque said he only had one or two drinks that day. Police said Roque smelled of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. A blood test revealed a blood alcohol content of .057 as well as the presence of marijuana.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III is set for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 19.

Child endangerment

SHAMOKIN - James Williams Jr., 50, of 2140 Fairview Rd., Unityville, was charged with a felony count of endangering the welfare of a child, two summary offenses of driving under the influence and one summary offense of driving with a license suspended by a DUI for an incident occurring June 18 at 714 N. Cherry St.

City police said Williams was driving a red van with a small child in the back seat. Williams smelled of alcohol and displayed signs of intoxication. A blood test revealed a blood alcohol content of .261.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 19.

Drug possession

COAL TOWNSHIP - Robert M. Rickert II, 24, of 1645 Tioga St., Coal Township, was charged June 17 with one felony count of possessing a controlled substance with the intent of delivering it and one misdemeanor count of possessing a controlled substance and paraphernalia.

Coal Township police said Rickert visited his probation officer for his last urine test before being taken off house arrest. He arrived at the office with a condom full of urine, which burst. He then told the probation officer drug tests would show he had ingested Spice. A search of Rickert's vehicle returned two green Spice packets.

The probation officer then searched Rickert's home and discovered a green digital camouflage backpack marked "US" with a black plastic bag containing clear plastic baggies and more of the same green plastic Spice packets, as well as an orange HMDX case containing heroin packets with additional paraphernalia such as empty wrappers and scales.

Rickert was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III July 7 and bail was set at $1,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Coal Township police said Rickert told a probation officer June 17 that he sold Spice to Sonya M. Wyland, 30, of 114 Second St., Ranshaw, who was also on probation. When the probation officer visited Wyland, she said she did not possess any of the drug and that she would test clean. She then tested positive for Spice and cocaine.

The police officer located five empty Spice packets in a jacket pocket, as well as empty packets and a scale in the drawer of a filing cabinet. Wyland said the items were old and that there were additional packets of Spice behind the white dresser in her bedroom. A fast food meal bag with 27 packets of Spice was found in this location.

Wyland was charged with one felony count of possessing a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III July 7 and remanded to Northumberland County Prison. Bail was set at $1,000 cash. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III is set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Nadine Swank, 23, of 246 S. Coal St., Shamokin, was charged with one felony count of theft of property.

Coal Township police said Christa Komara said she left three rings, valued at $2,696.99 when purchased in 2000 and 2001, at the Cliff Street Tanning beds in September 2013. A man contacted Komara and said he was with Swank when she discovered the rings and when she pawned them at Jasmine-Aire Boutique, Sunbury.

Ken Romberger, owner of Jasmine-Aire Boutique, said Swank pawned the rings April 23 for $170. Romberger still had two of the rings, which were brought to the station and given to Komara. Swank told police she kept the rings for some time before pawning them.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 12 before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.

DUI, drugs

SHAMOKIN - Ross Edward Hein, 53, of 1010 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia and summary offenses of driving with a suspended license, driving without registration, driving uninsured, driving without inspection, failure to obey stop signs and careless driving for an incident occurring at 7 p.m. May 31 at the intersection of Liberty and Water streets.

City police said Hein struck another vehicle with his Jeep when he failed to stop at a stop sign. Inside his vehicle was a case of beer; Hein denied he had been drinking. Officers smelled marijuana emanating from Hein's vehicle, and Hein admitted to smoking marijuana. The officers located a small amount of marijuana and a pipe in the vehicle. A blood test detected marijuana in Hein's bloodstream.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 12 before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.

Two-vehicle crash

MONROE TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:51 p.m. Sunday on Route 15 South near the entrance to Line Road.

State police at Selinsgrove report a 2010 Nissan Maxima, driven by Stephen J. Petrina, 68, of Harrisburg, and a 2006 Toyota Tacoma, driven by William H. Amig, 69, of Elysburg, were traveling south in the right lane when Amig slowed down for traffic in front of him. Police say Petrina failed to slow down and struck the rear of Amig's vehicle.

No one was hurt in the crash, and police cited Petrina for failure to drive a vehicle at a safe speed.

Truck strikes tree

WHITE DEER TOWNSHIP - Roger P. Billman, 41, of Elysburg, and his passenger, Eric J. Turofski, 38, of Catawissa, escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when a truck in which they were riding exited Interstate 80 and struck a tree, approximately four miles east of exit 199 in this Union County township.

State police at Milton reported Billman was driving a 2001 Ford F-350 east in the right lane of the highway at 3:40 p.m. when the right front tire blew out, causing him to lose control. The truck then left the road on the south berm and hit a tree with its right front. The truck spun clockwise and hit another tree with its rear driver's side before coming to rest.

Billman and Turofski were wearing seat belts, police said.

Two-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday near the entrance to the Walmart SuperCenter on Route 61.

Township police report a 2005 Toyota, driven by Donald Rothermel, 56, of 1137 W. Willow St., was traveling north on Route 61 and attempting to turn into the Walmart parking lot when he struck a 2012 Toyota Rav4, driven by John Bressi, 51, of 209 S. Market St., Mount Carmel.

Neither driver, nor Bressi's passenger, his wife, Diane, was injured in the crash and both vehicles were driven from the scene. Police said Rothermel will be cited for a motor vehicle violation.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Amanda C. Stank, 31, of 716 E. Kase St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for harassment for allegedly pulling the hair of Autumn Breslin, 26, of 237 S. Market St., Shamokin, hitting her in the head and spilling beer on her at 10 p.m. Sunday on Pine Street near Fifth Street.

Simple assault

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Wallace E. Seltzer Jr., 29, of 207 E. Market St., Danville, was charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with simple assault and harassment involving a disturbance at 33 Hummer Road shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday.

Police reported Seltzer is accused of throwing an object off the head of an unidentified female, causing her to suffer a 1-inch laceration on the back of her head. He also allegedly used a baseball bat to smash items in the residence, grabbed the victim's hair and threw her onto the floor.

Seltzer was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Michael Diehl of Milton and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $40,000 cash bail.

False identification

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Jason J. Jeremiah, 33, of 15 Ringtown Mountain Road, Catawissa, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with possessing instruments of crime, false identification to law enforcement authorities, criminal trespass, driving under suspension and trespass by motor vehicle.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Jeremiah, who was found in a truck with a pair of wire cutters and wire at about 11 a.m. July 4 in the lot at Delta Motors along Route 61, falsely identified himself as his father, Daniel B. Jeremiah, of Bloomsburg, who is the owner of the truck the defendant had possession of at the time. Police, who noted Delta Motors was closed for the Fourth of July holiday, also said there were three outstanding warrants from Schuylkill County for Jason Jeremiah's arrest.

Police said Jeremiah was previously arrested for stealing scrap metal in Locust Township.

Jeremiah was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Michael Diehl of Milton and committed to Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Billy Sampsell, of West Arch Street, reported to township police that sometime between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Thursday, someone struck the right side of his vehicle, while it was parked on Water Street behind his home, causing damage. Police said the damage may have been caused by a white Dodge pick-up truck that was pulling a utility trailer.

Megan's Law violations

MOUNT CARMEL - Richard Small, 33, of Mount Carmel, was charged by Police Chief Todd Owens with two counts of failing to comply with Megan's Law requirements.

Police said Small was living at a condemned property at 200 W. Second St. from May 1 to May 24 and failed to re-register his new address with Pennsylvania State Police.

Small was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.

Hit and run

STRONG - Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski has charged David R. Disciullo, 27, of 218 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas, with altering or forging documents and plates, false reports to police, hit and run, driving under suspension, fraudulent use or removal of a registration plate, driving without insurance, operating a vehicle following suspension of registration, operating a vehicle without inspection and driving a vehicle without proper registration and certificate of title.

The charges relate to a hit-and-run accident at 12:21 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot at Turkey Hill Minit Market at Routes 61 and 54 in Strong.

Disciullo is free after posting $10,000 bail.

Guilty plea

MOUNT CARMEL - Robert Anthony Disciullo, 73, of 433 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a summary of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

A misdemeanor of disorderly conduct was withdrawn.

Disciullo was charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with calling the Northumberland County 911 Center at 9:54 p.m. July 3 during a major rainstorm and stating that the "pope is the Antichrist."

Heroin charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kegan D. Polastre, 22, of 1325 W. Arch St., Coal Township, was arraigned at 1:40 p.m. Thursday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on two felony counts each of delivering heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin and criminal use of a communication facility.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan and Agent David Jordan of the state attorney general's office, Polastre is accused of delivering 10 bags of heroin to a confidential informant for $180 Feb. 17 and delivering nine bags of heroin to the informant for $200 Feb. 20.

Polastre was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $25,000 cash bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Gembic at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

SUNBURY - Three local defendants were recently sentenced in Northumberland County Court.

n Collin Scicchitano, 19, of Coal Township, was sentenced for criminal trespass by President Judge William H. Wiest to serve 3 to 12 months in the county jail and ordered to serve three consecutive years of supervised probation upon his release.

He also was ordered to pay a $250 fine plus costs, a $50 per month supervision fee and make $400 in restitution to his mother, Jill Scicchitano, for property taken or damaged. Scicchitano was made eligible for an early release program, given credit for prison time previously served and ordered to pay for a DNA sample.

In addition to criminal trespass, Scicchitano pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and possessing a firearm without a license. He received separate concurrent sentences on those charges that include paying $350 in fines plus costs, making restitution totaling $502.38 to Edward Johns Jr., a 1- to 12-month prison sentence and probation.

He also must refrain from possessing, consuming or purchasing alcohol, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and avoid any contact with drug dealers or users.

All the charges against Scicchitano were filed by Coal Township police last year and this year.

n Joseph V. Payne, 29, of Shamokin, was sentenced for attempted burglary by Judge Charles Saylor to serve a two-year intermediate punishment, with the first 90 days in Northumberland County Prison followed by 120 days on house arrest.

He will remain under the supervision of the county adult probation and parole department.

Payne must pay a $50 fine, $50 per month supervision fee and for a DNA sample. He also was ordered to pay $507.52 to Kim Martin and Bob Blugis.

Payne was charged by Coal Township police with attempting to break into the Clubhouse Bar, 1027 E. Race St., in April.

n Jeffrey Michael Trice, 28, of Coal Township, was sentenced for endangering the welfare of children by Saylor to 11 1/2 to 23 months in county prison and two years consecutive probation. He was made eligible for work release and must pay $250 in fines plus costs, a $50 per month supervision fee and make restitution totaling $2,072.39 to Walmart.

He also received concurrent sentences of 3 to 11 1/2 months in county jail and four years probation on charges of conspiracy to commit forgery, retail theft and tampering with evidence.

The charges were filed by Coal Township, Mount Carmel and Mount Carmel Township police.

KULPMONT - Samuel J. Dascani, 31, of 632 Scott St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman David Tomtishen with public drunkenness and scattering rubbish relating to an 11:30 p.m. incident Wednesday in the 600 block of Scott Street.

Police said Dascani was found intoxicated sleeping on the sidewalk next to his car.

Theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Elaine Eckman, 66, of 247 Main St., reported to the Coal Township police that someone stole a package delivered to her residence between 3:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 5.

Motorcyclist remains critical

DANVILLE - Cory L. Thompson, 29, of Shamokin, who was hurt in an accident on Route 61 Sunday, remained in critical condition Monday, according to a spokeman at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Thompson was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Geisinger after being severely injured when thrown from his motorcycle that was rear-ended by a Jeep on Route 61 near The Wayside Inn.

Condition improves

DANVILLE - The condition of Erick R. Trometter, 22, of Sunbury, has improved from critical to serious, according to a spokeswoman at Geisinger Medical Center.

Trometter was shot once July 8 by Acting Sunbury Police Chief Brad Hare on Mile Post Road just outside Sunbury after allegedly assaulting his grandmother at their home and brandishing a knife when confronted by Hare.

Dog owner cited

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brittany Tebo, 24, of 1317 W. Arch St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky with allowing her pit bull to run at large at 1 p.m. Friday.

Police said the dog got out of Tebo's home and jumped over the back fence.

Heights woman injured

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - Jennifer A. Machuzak, 41, of Marion Heights, suffered a moderate injury Thursday night in a one-car crash along Interstate 180 north of Sulphur Spring Hollow Road in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Milton reported Machuzak was driving a 2007 Toyota Avalon west at 9:25 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a left turn in the highway and struck guard rail with its right front end. After impact, the car went back onto the road and hit a middle concrete barrier separating the east and westbound lanes with its entire left side.

The auto continued along the barrier before coming to rest.

Machuzak was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Machuzak was cited for failing to drive in a single lane.

An investigation is continuing.

Criminal mischief

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone damaged mailboxes belonging to Tom Wengrenovich, 48, and Leonard Lucas, 54, both of East Cameron Township, along Foura Road between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday.

Criminal trespass

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - An investigation is continuing into a report of someone being inside a structure at Danley Disposal, 456 Route 61, Sunbury, at 3:40 a.m. Sunday. The person fled the scene before police arrived.

Soda cooler stolen

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone removed a Pepsi soda cooler from an outside patio area at the Sunbury Social Club between 11:55 p.m. July 3 and 7 a.m. July 4.

Wheel cap stolen

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Robert Tarr, 60, of Paxinos, told state police at Stonington that someone removed a gray Hummer wheel cap from the front passenger side wheel on his orange 2008 Hummer H3 between 2:30 and 11:30 p.m. July 8 while his vehicle was parked in a lot at Masser's Restaurant at Routes 487 and 61.

Fugitive apprehended

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Stanley Lesnefski, 54, of Plum Creek Road, Rockefeller Township, was arrested by state police at Stonington for being a fugitive from justice.

Police said Lesnefski was fingerprinted at the state police station at 3 p.m. June 24 for other reasons when it was determined he was wanted in New Jersey for crimes dating approximately 30 years ago.

An extradition is pending further investigation.

Mailbox damaged

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Diane Shultz, 52, of 217 Boyd Station Road, Danville, reported to state police at Stonington that someone damaged her mailbox between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Dog found

STONINGTON - State police here found a large brown/red Boxer mix dog wandering along Route 61 at 5:40 p.m. July 8 near the village of Stonington

Two escape injury

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Suzanne A. Sassaman, 31, of Lewisburg, and her passenger, Kaitlynn N. Breish, 18, of Shamokin, escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident involving a deer at 9:30 p.m. July 7 along Snydertown Road (Route 4012), approximately 1.5 miles east of Black Mill Road.

State police at Stonington reported Sassaman was driving a 2005 Kia Sportage east when a deer entered the road from the south berm and collided with the front end of the sport utility vehicle.

The Sportage sustained front-end damage and was towed by Paul's Auto Body, Sunbury.

Culvert box broken

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone broke a gray plastic culvert box along the eastbound fog line of Boyer's Grove Road, approximately 1.5 miles west of Route 125.

Police said the actor fled the scene after the incident that occurred three to four weeks prior to being reported July 3.

Burned vehicle

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported a red 1998 Jeep Cherokee was found burned in a stripping pit area at Smurfs Pond at 4:50 p.m. July 6.

Simple assault

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Wallace Seltzer, 29, of 33 Hummer Road, Danville, has been charged by Trooper James McCormick Jr. of state police at Stonington with simple assault and harassment involving a July 4 disturbance at his residence.

Police said Seltzer became involved in a verbal argument at 10 p.m. that day with a 33-year-old unidentified female before allegedly choking the victim, pulling her hair, pushing her to the ground, punching her in the back and kneeing her in the side.

Bicycle stolen

SNYDERTOWN - Kellie Jo Bingaman, 45, of Sunbury, told state police at Stonington that someone stole a dark blue Trek bicycle from Snydertown Road between 9 p.m. July 2 and 3 p.m. July 3.

Two injured

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Denise A. Williams, 52, of Sunbury, suffered a moderate injury while her passenger, John E. Yocum, 47, of Sunbury, suffered a minor injury in a one-car crash at 7 p.m. July 4 on Edison Heights Road north of Kershner Hill Road.

State police at Stonington reported Williams was driving a 2009 Ford Fusion east when she was blinded by the sun, causing her car to exit the road and strike several trees. The auto sustained disabling front-end damage.

Williams and Yocum were transported by Americus Ambulance of Sunbury to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Williams was cited by Trooper Mark Adams for careless driving.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Jeffery E. Barber, 20, of 124 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and underage drinking after he was found intoxicated sitting in his underwear at 6 a.m. Saturday at Vine and Clay streets.

Steals air conditioner

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brad Nahodil, 33, of 216 Main St., Ranshaw, was charged with stealing a 12,000 BTU air conditioner valued at $389 and an air mattress valued at $54.97 from Walmart Supercenter at 12:40 a.m. June 28.

Patrolman Edward Purcell, who charged Nahodil with retail theft and driving under DUI suspension, said Nahodil exited the store with the stolen items in a cart before driving away in a 2005 Nissan. Police said Nahodil was spotted by an asset protection associate stealing the items and also was observed on video committing the offense.

Drug offenses

COAL TOWNSHIP - Detective Jeff Brennan has charged Andrew Derck, 26, of 1317 W. Arch St., Coal Township, with felonies of possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession with intent to deliver morphine involving a June 24 incident at his home.

In addition to heroin and morphine, police said various drug paraphernalia, including a pipe, a small metal container with pills in it and a wooden box containing baggies used to package drugs were discovered in Derck's home by Northumberland County adult probation officers.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Shannon B. McGinley, 18, of 339 E. Seventh St., Shamokin, was charged by Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III with possession of drug paraphernalia involving a May 4 reported drug overdose at 421 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 3-6.

Police reported McGinley was found in possession of two syringes, burned tinfoil and five empty glassine packets commonly used to package heroin.

McGinley was arraigned Monday afternoon by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Assault

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Jarrod Scandle has charged Benjamin Gray, 32, of 243 S. Vine St., Shamokin, with assaulting his live-in girlfriend, Michelle Wolfe, at 9:42 p.m. Sunday at their residence.

Police said Gray is accused of hitting Wolfe in the face with an open hand, grabbing her and shoving her to the ground, causing bruising on her arm.

Wolfe was transported by private vehicle to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where she underwent emergency room treatment before being released.

Upon being taken into custody a short time later at the rear of his residence, Gray was transported to Shamokin Police Station, where he intentionally hit his head off a wall and cell bars, causing him to suffer a cut on his head. Gray was treated at the station by AREA Services personnel before being secured to a stretcher for his safety.

Gray was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on charges of simple assault and harassment at 2:30 p.m. Monday and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.

Drug charges

BARNESVILLE - State police at Frackville charged Jeremy Lockwitch, 26, of 221 Church St., Barnesville, with possession of illegal drug prescriptions and related offenses after he was found at 1:45 p.m. Sunday with 34 Xanax, 27 Tramadol and 14 Percocet pills stored in an unlabeled pill container at his home.

Ordinance violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - Luke Shingara, 27, of Trevorton, was cited by Patrolman Jason Adams for a violation of the township noise ordinance after an incident at 1 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Coal Township Police, Shingara was operating air tools in an open bay garage at 232 Center St., Tharptown, disturbing neighbors after having been previously warned about such activities.

Theft, drug paraphernalia

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jimmie Driggers II, 24, of 135 Birch St., Shamokin, waived a misdemeanor charge of retail theft during an arraignment before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III Tuesday related to an incident at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Walmart.

According to Coal Township Police, store security observed Driggers bagging items without scanning them at the self-checkout. Security followed Driggers into the parking lot and obtained his license plate number. Security also obtained a copy of the receipt of Drigger's transaction; Drigger had not scanned four items for a total value of $26.97.

Driggers was convicted of a prior retail theft charge, and was in Walmart's security database for an incident that occurred at a store in Buckhorn, according to a police affidavit.

Driggers also waived a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia related to an incident at his home at 2:30 p.m. April 15.

Shamokin police said they served a search warrant on Driggers' residence and seized a safe. At the station, police opened the safe using the combination obtained from Driggers. Inside were plastic bags commonly used to package Spice and a small amount of Spice.

Driggers was released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

Stolen vehicle

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Pennsylvania State Police in Schuylkill Haven said a vehicle spotted July 3 on coal lands belonging to Reading Anthracite in Northumberland County is no longer listed as stolen.

Zerbe Township Police said a white Dodge Dakota was spotted by Reading Anthracite Security Manager Richard Morgan and a member of the state police parked on an off road in the area locally known as "the flats" with two occupants inside. The driver of the truck started the vehicle and fled the area onto Route 2044 (Gap Road) at a high rate of speed.

A search of the registration in the police system revealed the truck was listed as stolen from the Schuylkill Haven area and was being operated by a male considered armed and dangerous and a suicide risk.

The operator drove the truck toward Gowen City and out of sight of the police. While additional officers were dispatched to the area, a West Cameron resident drove to the police location and said the driver of the truck drove into his driveway and parked. When approached, the truck's driver drove across the property of the resident's neighbor and onto Route 2044, driving in the direction of Gowen City.

Neither state police nor Zerbe Township police could provide any more details on the operator or how the vehicle was located.

Dog death investigated

SHAMOKIN - Richard Wright, field investigator for Phoenix Rescue Humane Police Department, Carlisle, is investigating the death of a dog that was discovered dead in a vacant lot at Seventh and Willow streets.

Wright, whose agency investigates animal cruelty cases in Northumberland County, said there's a possibility the partially decomposed pug, which has been dead four or five weeks, may have been the victim of animal cruelty. He said the dog was less than five years old.

"We believe it was left out in the heat with no food or water," Wright said. "No wounds were found on the body, but it may have been abused."

He said the dog didn't have a license on it, but a piece of rope was tied to its collar.

Wright said a concerned neighbor notified him about the dog, which was removed from the lot at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday by city street department employees with the assistance of police.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Two defendants pleaded guilty Tuesday to disorderly conduct and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay fines and costs.

Robert Pesarchick, 45, of 2102 W. Independence St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. Additional charges of terroristic threats, resisting arrest and public drunkenness were withdrawn.

Pesarchick was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Joshua Wynn in connection with a June 13 disturbance at his residence.

Police said Pesarchick, who was intoxicated and allegedly had a gun, approached several police officers who were dispatched to his home. Police said Pesarchick was yelling and screaming at them to hit him. Pesarchick was acting aggressively toward police and a stun gun was used, police said. Pesarchick resisted police and refused to be handcuffed.

A relative told police Pesarchick threatened to kill a family member, police said.

Dennis Hynes Jr., 22, of Coal Township, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and criminal mischief and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and make $150 restitution. A charge of public drunkenness was withdrawn.

Hynes was charged by Patrolman Joshua Wynn in connection with a June 28 disturbance along Route 61 in the east end of the township.

Charges dismissed

MOUNT CARMEL - Criminal charges filed against two defendants were dismissed Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones when the victims in the cases refused to testify.

- Charges of simple assault and harassment filed by Trooper James McCormick Jr. of state police at Stonington were dismissed against Wallace Seltzer, 29, of Danville, when the 33-year-old unidentified female victim refused to testify.

The charges were filed in connection with a July 4 disturbance at 33 Hummer Road, Rush Township.

Police said Seltzer became involved in a verbal argument with the victim before allegedly choking the victim, pulling her hair, pushing her to the ground, punching her in the back and kneeing her in the side.

Seltzer also had simple assault and harassment charges dismissed relating to a July 6 disturbance at 33 Hummer Road when the unidentified female victim refused to testify.

In that case, Seltzer was charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with bouncing an object off the head of the victim, causing her a 1-inch laceration on the back of her head. He also allegedly used a baseball bat to smash items in the residence, grabbed the victim's hair and threw her onto the floor.

- Brieana Lynn Hine, 21, of 14 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, had charges of simple assault and harassment dismissed when her mother, Debra Dinklocker, refused to testify.

Hine was charged by Mount Carmel Lt. Christopher Buhay with assaulting Dinklocker May 22 at their residence.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Michael A. Halpin, 51, of 330 W. Girard St., Atlas, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and one count of careless driving involving a March 26 two-vehicle accident in front of his home.

Police said Halpin had oxycodone and lorazepam in his blood system.

Burglary offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal attempt to commit theft were filed by Patrolman Matthew Dillman against Richard Paul Conner, 46, of 50 S. Second St., Shamokin, relating to an April 4 burglary at the residence of Roxanne Misner, of 343 S. Oak St.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Conner entered Misner's residence and attempted to steal a Nintendo Wii game system.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Justin Stelma has charged Jake D. Stellar, 24, of 245 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, with simple assault and harassment.

Police reported Stellar punched Robert Longo in the left eye, causing him to get several stitches.

Police said the assault occurred at 12:40 p.m. June 19 at Third and Oak streets.

Drug, drunkenness charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Anthony M. Bosland, 43, of 115 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with possessing three tablets of acetaminophen and hydrocodone, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct relating to an incident at about 3:30 a.m. July 5 in the first block of North Oak Street.

Police reported Bosland was intoxicated and urinated in the bushes next to a building.

Multiple charges

KULPMONT - Patrolman Joshua Pastucka has filed multiple charges against Chad M. Neiman, 28, of 716 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, for a disturbance at about 6 p.m. Friday at Second and Chestnut streets.

Police reported Neiman was observed driving a Jeep Cherokee south on Chestnut Street at 63 miles per hour, which is 28 miles per hour over the speed limit. Police said Neiman parked the Jeep behind Pete's Pizzeria along Route 61, exited the vehicle and ran toward a wooded area before being taken into custody by police.

When asked by police why he was running, Neiman stated, "Because me and Kulpmont cops don't get along."

Neiman was charged with flight to avoid apprehension, resisting arrest, driving under suspension, driving without a license, speeding and careless driving.

Fingerprint violation

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph S. Spagnolo III, 36, of 246 S. Oak St., Apt. 2, Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with failing to be fingerprinted and processed in accordance with a court order.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Spagnolo was charged in connection with a May 26 assault and consequently ordered by Jones to be fingerprinted between May 27 and June 3. Dillman reminded Spagnolo June 18 and July 2 while he was attending his preliminary hearing that he had to be fingerprinted and processed within 24 hours, but Spagnolo failed to do so.

Sobriety checkpoints

POTTSVILLE - The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group and Coal Township police announced roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints will be conducted today through Saturday, July 26, on Routes 61, 225, 125, 54, 487, 901 and 147 or other connecting roadways into municipalities.

Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by dialing 911. To report underage drinking, call 1-888-under-21.

The roving patrols and checkpoints are funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and National Highway Safety Administration.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Zackery D. Hayes, 18, of 40 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of heroin involving two separate incidents.

Hayes was charged with possessing a heroin wrapper at his home June 29.

He also was charged with possessing heroin and drug paraphernalia at the Shamokin police station June 30.

Motorcyclist charged

SHAMOKIN - Several charges have been filed by Patrolman Raymond Siko II against Jeremy C. Fisher, 38, of 537 1/2 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, in connection with a pursuit that started at about 5 p.m. July 10 on Mount Carmel Street near Pool World.

Fisher was observed by police allegedly texting while operating a motorcycle carelessly, prompting police to pursue him. Police said Fisher was able to elude police while traveling through several city streets. He is accused of failing to stop for stop signs at Dewart and Franklin streets and Dewart and Shamokin streets and running a red light at Sunbury and Pearl streets.

Fisher was located at his home the next morning and later charged after an interview with police.

Fisher was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, a stop sign violation, careless driving, texting while operating a motor vehicle, failing to wear a helmet and a red light violation.

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone used the identities of Thomas and Shirley McBryan, of Foye Road, to fraudulently receive a tax refund in Indiana that the actor was not entitled to receive.

The incident was reported June 27.

Access device fraud

STONINGTON - State police here are investigating incidents of access device fraud that occurred between May 10 and June 20.

Douglas Hawkins, of Catawissa, said someone used his credit card numbers to purchase numerous items in Columbia County.

Scrap metal stolen

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington said someone removed four trailer hitches, angle irons, channel irons, metal pipes and other scrap metal from TL Adams LLC along Mandata Road at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Tools stolen

KULPMONT - Jason Michael Ross, 36, of Kulpmont, told state police at Stonington that someone stole a Milwaukee super sawzall, a Makita cordless drill, a Craftsman grinder, a Master machine multi-tool and a Dremel saw max from his vehicle parked outside 520 Spruce St. between 11 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Burglary

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating a burglary at Fry's Garage along Dogwood Road near Route 61 that occurred between 11 p.m. July 6 and 1:30 a.m. July 7.

Police said burglars forced open a side door on the garage that faces Route 61 and removed four 15-inch polished aluminum GM wheels, five 15-inch aluminum Jeep wheels, a 15-inch aluminum racing wheel, six Muncie four-speed transmissions, a 426 GM Big Block engine head, three copper radiators, an electric motor with AC compressor, a transfer case, a Ford Explorer rear end 8.8 axle and miscellaneous tools.

Police said they have two suspects in the case.

Endangers child

RIVERSIDE - Melissa Lou Read, 46, of 121 Gearhart St., Riverside, was charged by Patrolman Gerald Zeidler with endangering the welfare of a child.

Police reported Read was intoxicated while supervising her 4-year-old daughter June 1 to the point that she became unconscious and unresponsive when her daughter and a police officer attempted to wake her at their home. Police said the child was unsupervised for approximately three hours.

Burglary

MOUNT CARMEL - Chief of Police Todd Owens has charged Jody Valentine Foulke, 28, of 19 Hillcrest Drive, Elysburg, with burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property involving a June 27 incident at an apartment building at 422 E. Avenue.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Foulke allegedly removed $311 from a wallet belonging to Bradley Desenberg, who is the caretaker of the apartment building. Police said Foulke unlawfully entered the apartment of Tammy Bonnell and stole the money.

Foulke was arraigned on the charges Thursday by Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Daniel E. Kanowicz, 18, of 230 S. Locust St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman William Adamski with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and corruption of minors involving a March 30 incident in the 500 block of East Seventh Street.

Police said Kanowicz possessed marijuana rolled up in cigar wrapping and a multi-colored glass smoking pipe in his vehicle occupied by himself and two 16-year-old males.

Dog runs at large

MOUNT CARMEL - Brenda Linn, 42, of Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman William Adamski for failing to keep her dog confined to her property.

Police said Linn's dog was chasing people around on North Turnpike Street and became aggressive toward officers May 6.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Vincent Addaman, 27, of 115 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman William Adamski for harassment in connection with a domestic dispute shortly before midnight June 27.

Police said Addaman became physical toward his wife, who reportedly suffered injuries to her arm and leg.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman William Adamski has cited Anthony P. Ford, 43, of 140 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, for disorderly conduct for allowing his dog to bark outside for more than 30 minutes during the early morning of June 29.

Police said Ford was asleep on his couch while the dog was barking.

Unwanted call

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Matthew Dillman charged Jill L. Nye, 55, of 47 S. Orange St., Mount Carmel, with disorderly conduct involving an 11:30 p.m. incident Monday in which Nye called the Northumberland County 911 Center and told the dispatchers they should call the movie theaters to see if they could have a movie night because it was hot out and the kids needed something to do.

Police said Nye tied up the 911 line for other callers who were attempting to seek emergency assistance.

Collision

KELLY TOWNSHIP - A Sunbury woman suffered a minor injury when state police say her car veered from the road and collided with two parked vehicles.

Bonnie L. Underkoffler, 78, of Sunbury, was traveling west on River Road in this Union County township at 11:40 a.m. Wednesday when her 1992 Ford Escort failed to negotiate a left curve and traveled straight off the road into a grass parking area, where it struck the two unoccupied parked vehicles.

Underkoffler was treated for a minor injury on site. A passenger, Catherine Zimmerman, 70, of Sunbury, was not injured.

Police said Underkoffler was cited with careless driving.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Zachary Ty Knittle, 19, of 133 S. Market St., Elysburg, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell with a misdemeanor of retail theft involving an incident late Thursday night at Walmart Supercenter.

Police reported Knittle removed four Xbox games from their cases and concealed them in his shorts shortly before midnight. He also is accused of placing other items in shopping bags and attempting to leave the store without paying for the merchandise before being stopped by a Walmart associate and police.

Total value of the merchandise is $153.26.

Terroristic threats

DANVILLE - Jacob Popolow, of Danville, was charged by Trooper Wendy Keefer of state police at Stonington with terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and simple assault in connection with a domestic dispute at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at 2438 Snydertown Road.

Aggravated assault

DANVILLE - An aggravated assault charge is pending against Jenny Summers, 21, of Danville, relating to a disturbance at 7:50 p.m. Sunday at Danville State Hospital, according to state police at Milton.

Police said Summers allegedly broke a fire exit door, took a pin out of the door and threw it at Penny Hodish, 50, of Danville, striking her on the left side of the head.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Lawrence Taylor, 26, of 510 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with simple assault and harassment involving a domestic disturbance at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Taylor is accused of throwing an iPad at his live-in girlfriend, Kassandra Medina, which hit her in the face, causing her lip to bleed. Police said the assault occurred at their home.

Police said the couple had been arguing all day.

Taylor was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum of Sunbury and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $700 bail.

Two cited

SHAMOKIN - Two men were cited by Patrolman William Zalinski in connection with an altercation at 2:45 p.m. July 5 in the 300 block of East Independence Street.

Jason Lichty, 40, of 1149 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly chest bumping Kenneth J. Glosek, 49, of 7 Andrew St., Elysburg, and yelling obscenities at him.

Glosek was cited for harassment for allegedly punching Lichty in the face.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - John Kriner, 59, of 305 W. Spruce St., Shamokin, was cited by Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III for disorderly conduct for allegedly yelling and cursing at people and threatening to burn a vehicle and person at 12:34 p.m. July 5 in his block.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Scott Weaver has cited Josiah Larose, 20, of 2 W. Lincoln St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, for retail theft for allegedly stealing candy from Turkey Hill Minit Market on Second Street at 9:30 p.m. June 28.

Motorcyclist remains critical

DANVILLE - Cory L. Thompson, 29, of Shamokin, who was hurt in an accident on Route 61 July 13, remained in critical condition Tuesday, according to a spokeswoman at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Thompson was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Geisinger after being severely injured when thrown from his motorcycle that was rear-ended by a Jeep near The Wayside Inn.

Condition improves

DANVILLE - The condition of Erick R. Trometter, 22, of Sunbury, has improved from serious to fair, according to a spokeswoman at Geisinger Medical Center.

Trometter was shot once July 8 by acting Sunbury Police Chief Brad Hare on Mile Post Road just outside Sunbury after allegedly assaulting his grandmother at their home and brandishing a knife when confronted by Hare.

Trometter has been charged by Sunbury police in the assault case, but no charges have been filed by state police in the shooting incident, which remains under investigation.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Joseph Dormer, 18, of Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Henrich for retail theft for allegedly stealing $19.25 worth of merchandise from Walmart Supercenter July 12.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Ashley Lynn Russell, 23, of 551-B N. Sixth St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for harassment for allegedly punching Sabrina Maisey in the face at 10:31 p.m. July 16 in the 500 block of North Market Street.

Guilty plea

SHAMOKIN - Benjamin Gray, 32, of 243 S. Vine St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a summary offense of harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs.

An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Gray was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with assaulting his live-in girlfriend, Michelle Wolfe, July 13 at their residence.

Teen injured

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - A 17-year-old Millersburg male suffered a moderate injury in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning along Route 147.

State police at Stonington reported the teen, who was transported by Americus Ambulance to Harrisburg Hospital, was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 truck north at 7 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole off the northbound shoulder before hitting the back of a parked 2012 Mack 600 tractor trailer.

Gary L. Killian, 61, of Mocksville, N.C., a passenger in the tractor-trailer, escaped injury.

The teen was cited for failing to drive in a single lane.

Driver escapes injury

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Daniel J. Hollick, 21, of Shamokin, escaped injury early Sunday in a one-car crash involving a deer along Route 61 near Township Route 762.

State police at Stonington said Hollick was driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus south at 2:19 a.m. when a deer entered the road from a wooded area off the north side; Hollick lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid the animal. The car exited the highway before re-entering the road and spinning 180 degrees. The car then left the northbound lane and hit an embankment before stopping.

Hollick was wearing a seat belt, police said.

His car sustained disabling damage to its front passenger side and rear driver side bumper and was towed by Paul's Towing.

Also assisting at the scene were fire personnel from Stonington and Elysburg.

Hit and run

RUSH TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a vehicle hitting a mailbox Monday afternoon along Murphy Road.

Police reported an unknown vehicle traveling west between 12:05 and 1:20 p.m. left tire marks in the loose gravel and front yard at the residence of Irene Murphy, of 16 Murphy Road, Sunbury, before striking a mailbox with its front end.

The hit-and-run vehicle then fled west along Murphy Road and should have damage to its front end and under carriage.

Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call state police at 570-286-5601.

Plants stolen

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone stole five raspberry plants, eight blueberry plants, a tree and a yellow, five-gallon diesel fuel can from Schwalm's Greenhouse, 1653 Boyer Hill Road, Sunbury, at 11 p.m. Saturday.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Anthony M. Dagostino, 19, of 251 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with three counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with an expired registration, driving without proper inspection and failing to possess his driver's license.

The charges relate to a May 15 incident at Fifth and Hickory streets.

Police said Dagostino was under the influence of marijuana, oxycodone and oxymorphone while driving.

Drug charges

KULPMONT - Charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and false identification to police were filed by Patrolman Patrick McAndrew against Vincent William Bills, 30, of 921 Spruce St., Kulpmont, in connection with a June 7 incident at 10th and Poplar streets.

Police said Bills identified himself as Michael Bills when confronted after being observed pushing a black ATV north on 10th Street. Police said Bills, who was found in possession of marijuana and a smoking pipe, told police he lied about his identity because there were warrants for his arrest.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Kimberly Ann Olearnick, 28, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance involving a May 1 incident at her residence.

Police said Olearnick possessed a syringe and seven Lorazepam tablets in a silver pill container.

Multiple charges

KULPMONT - Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington has charged Kevin Gerard Wascavage, 34, of Auburn, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a sidewalk, failure to notify PennDOT within 15 days of a change of name or address, failure to drive in a single lane, careless driving and hit and run.

The charges relate to a July 4 hit-and-run accident on Chestnut Street near 9th Street.

Police reported Wascavage had a blood-alcohol content of .201 percent.

Assault, harassment

SHAMOKIN - Michael Gilligbauer, 22, of 409 N. Rock St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, was charged Tuesday with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and two summary offenses of harassment for two incidents that occurred at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16.

City police said at 10:25 p.m., an unidentified juvenile male came to the police station and reported he was assaulted by Gillingbauer in the area of Independence and Orange streets. The male said he was on his way home when he was approached by Gilligbauer. Gilligbauer alleged that the male had kissed his girlfriend. The male said Gilligbauer punched him in the face and head several times, knocking him to the ground. The youth further claimed that while he was on the ground, he was kicked in the head by Gilligbauer. Police noted an abrasion and bleeding to the victim's right eye.

Police said later, at 10:31 p.m., Gilligbauer became involved in a fight that was already under way. According to police, Sabrina Maisey and Ashley Russell were engaged in a fight and Andrew Hartzell attempted to break up the fight by holding Russell. He said he was then grabbed from behind by Gilligbauer, who police said is Russell's boyfriend. Hartzell said Gilligbauer punched him in the face several times, causing injury to his mouth and knocking his glasses from his face.

Patrolman Shane Mowery said he approached Gilligbauer July 17 as Gilligbauer was walking on Independence Street and asked if he would come to the police station to be interviewed in regards to the events of the previous night. Gilligbauer told the officer regarding the first incident that the male deserved the beating because "the kid had a smart mouth." Regarding the second incident, police said Gilligbauer said Hartzell "laid hands on my girl and "I had to take care of him." Police said Gilligbauer failed to show up at the police station to be interviewed.

DUI, underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - Chad Sienkiewicz, 20, of 439 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was charged Tuesday with underage drinking, DUI, DUI while underage and DUI with a blood alcohol content of over .16 for an incident that occurred around midnight July 8.

City police said Sienkiewicz's truck was spotted by Coal Township police driving erratically in the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot. A Coal Township officer followed the vehicle to the intersection of Third and Pine streets and activated his lights. Police said the driver parked and exited the truck and began fleeing the scene.

A toxicology report at Geisinger-Shamokin Community Hospital revealed a blood alcohol content for Sienkiewicz of 0.175, police said.

Dog incident

SHAMOKIN - Hilcias Lantigua, 37, of 17 S. Rock St., Shamokin, was charged on Tuesday with a misdemeanor count of being a public nuisance and a summary offense of disorderly conduct of offensive condition for an incident that occurred around 7 p.m. Friday, July 4.

City police say Lantigua's two dogs were roaming freely around the neighborhood without collars. While an officer was on scene, the dogs came into the area, took a stance and barked at a two-year-old girl and her mother.

Drug paraphernalia

SHAMOKIN - Christina Jewel Hepner, 26, of 19 E. Independence St., Apt. 7, Shamokin, was charged Tuesday with possession of drug paraphernalia for a syringe that was found at her house by a Northumberland County probation officer at 7:15 p.m. Monday.

According to city police, Hepner stated she used the syringe to ingest heroin.

Retail theft
