False ID charges

MONROE TOWNSHIP - A Selinsgrove man faces identity theft charges following a stop at a DUI checkpoint at 2 a.m. Saturday on Route 522 in Monroe Township, Snyder County.

State police at Selinsgrove report Michael A. Welch, 23, of 99 Creek Road, Selinsgrove, was operating a vehicle when he entered a DUI checkpoint. He told police he could not produce a license, but identified himself as Benjamin Koch, 22, of Selinsgrove.

Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. George Ritchey, reported in a press release, that he knew Welsh from prior incidents and knew he was not who he said he was. A check of his name showed he was wanted by the Snyder County's Sheriff's office and was operating a vehicle with a DUI-suspended license.

A charge of identity theft, along with providing false identification to law enforcement authorities and driving with a suspended license were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Reed, of Selinsgrove.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Matthew Steimling, 27, of Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington that between 12:01 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday, someone cut the valve stems on his tires while his vehicle was parked along Snydertown Road, Shamokin Township.

Sign broken

JORDAN TOWNSHIP - Jan Stutts, of 162 Klingerstown Road, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 8 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, someone broke a wooden sign displaying the name of her farm on her property. Anyone with information on the criminal mischief is asked to call state police at 286-5601.

Theft from vehicle

COAL TOWNSHIP - Ashley Stankiewicz, of 1128 W. Walnut St., reported to Coal Township police someone entered her 2004 Chevrolet Avalon and stole $67 in cash sometime between 10 p.m. Sunday and 6:50 a.m. Monday.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is asked to contact police at 644-0333.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Julie A. Bielski, 50, of 124 W. Mulberry St., was cited by Shamokin City Police Patrolman First Class Scott Weaver for public drunkenness after being found passed out and intoxicated in the 100 block of West Mulberry Street at 9:25 p.m. Saturday.

Retail theft charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police have charged three individuals with retail theft following incidents at the Coal Township Walmart SuperCenter.

Sarah Karpinski, 24, of Shamokin, was charged with retail theft after allegedly removing $151.34 worth of items from the store Aug. 14.

Elizabeth Farbiarz, 26, of Shamokin, was charged after allegedly attempting to remove $113.57 worth of merchandise from the store without paying for the items at 11:50 p.m. Aug. 14.

Jenna (Wehr) Ocacio-Rodriguez, 28, of Hazleton, and formerly of Shamokin, was charged after she allegedly removed an Apple iPad valued at $549 from the store without paying for it at approximately 5 p.m. Sept. 10.

Change stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Lisa Krieger, 47, of 1220 Hemlock St., reported someone entered her Chevy Cobalt parked near residence and removed a small amount of change between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:45 a.m. Monday.

Krieger also told Coal Township police the same thief entered her 2002 Jaguar, but did not steal anything.

Man charged in gun theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Collin Scicchitano, 18, of 1798 Clinton Ave., was charged by Coal Township Police in the case of a stolen handgun found Monday.

Police charged Scicchitano after he was found to be in possession of a .357 Magnum without a permit, and later learned the gun was stolen from a residence in the western section of Coal Township.

Police took him into custody at 3:25 p.m. Monday and arraigned him before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, on charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, theft, and receiving stolen property. He was committed to Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 cash bail.

Theft from a vehicle

COAL TOWNSHIP - John Shepard, of 1653 Tioga St., reported to police that sometime between 3 p.m. Sunday and 4:30 a.m. Monday, about $9 in money was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the 1600 block of Tioga Street.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Travis Sobotor, 25, of 410 Cypress St., reported to township police that sometime between 8 and 10 p.m. Sunday, someone struck his 2013 Chevrolet Camaro, causing damage to the front bumper, while the vehicle was parked in the Brewser's SportsGrille parking lot.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact Coal Township Police at 644-0333.

Washer parts stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police are investigating the theft of washer parts from the K&S Distributors appliance store sometime between 12:15 p.m. Friday and noon Monday.

Robert Berkheiser, of K&S, reported to police that someone removed approximately 12 knobs from various washers from behind the business, and that the top of a Hotpoint washer and its agitator was stolen.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Coal Township Police.

Vehicles entered

COAL TOWNSHIP - Lisa Krieger, of 1220 Hemlock St., reported to police that sometime between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:45 a.m. Monday, someone entered her Chevrolet Cobalt parked near her residence and removed a small amount of change from inside the vehicle.

Krieger also reported that someone entered her 2002 Jaguar, but nothing was removed from the vehicle. Anyone with informaton on the theft is asked to contact Coal Township Police.

Packages stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police continue to investigate the theft of several packages from a trailer's porch last week.

Ronald Nalewak, 69, of 1800 Tioga St., Trailer 10, reported that sometime between Sept. 9 and Sept. 16 someone opened two packages that were left on his porch by the mailman and stole a 14-carat diamond cat pendant, valued at $106.50 and two switchblade knives, valued at $70.

Anyone with information regarding the theft should contact Coal Township police.

Jacket stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Steven Dodge, of 122 Second St., Coal Township, informed police that someone removed a black and white North Face jacket, valued at $100, and $10 in change from his girlfriend's 2011 Toyota Corolla while it was parked near their residence. The break-in occurred between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coal Township Police.

Montour crash

WASHINGTONVILLE - A Coal Township man crashed into a parked car along Water Street (Route 54) Sept. 12 in this Montour County borough and escaped injury, according to state police at Milton.

William T. Portzline, 26, was driving a 1997 Dodge Dakota east near Peach Alley at 11:23 p.m. when he reportedly swerved to the right and drove into a 2006 Ford Focus. Both vehicles were disabled as a result, police said.

Police said he was wearing a seat belt.

Portzline was cited with careless driving and roadways laned for traffic.

C.T. crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - A Northumberland man crashed while driving west on Route 54 near Aqua Pennsylvania water company about 12:58 p.m. Tuesday.

Coal Township Police said Michael Gray, 46, was driving a 1995 Ford Contour at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday when he crossed over the eastbound lanes for an unknown reason and struck a guide rail, then crossed back over the highway and struck another guide rail where the vehicle came to rest.

Police said he was not injured. His vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed.

Gray will be cited for careless driving, police said.

Clothing stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Marty Searls, 49, of 123 Meade St., reported to township police someone entered his vehicle and removed $624.50 worth of newly purchased clothing sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The clothing removed included Hollister shirts and a black Harley Davidson jacket.

One-car crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 5 on Route 901 at Lower Excelsior Road.

Township police report Alicia Lahr, 17, of Shamokin, was traveling west on Route 901 in a 2005 Saturn ION sedan, when she lost control of the vehicle and skidded across the roadway.

Police say Lahr's vehicle traveled across the east lane and onto the berm on the south side of the road before striking and traveling across a drainage culvert.

Lahr's vehicle sustained damage to the front end and undercarriage, but no one was injured and no fire department response was needed.

Theft from vehicle

COAL TOWNSHIP - Chad Brokenshire, 30, of Coal Run, reported to Coal Township Police someone entered his vehicle and stole cash and debit cards sometime between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 12:15 a.m. Thursday.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact Coal Township Police at 644-0333.

Burglary

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington received a report from a 63-year-old female who said someone entered her home along Route 890 and removed personal items, including a laptop computer and jewelry, sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact state police at 286-5601.

Drug charges

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Foster U. Renn III, 23, of 1305 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Christopher Grow with delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Dec. 28 incident at Glosser Motor Inn along Route 487 in Elysburg.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Renn delivered eight bags of heroin to a confidential informant for $150.

Renn was arraigned and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Daniel J. Shields, 19, of 123 S. Vine St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Mount Carmel Chief of Police Todd Owens and Patrolman William Adamski with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver oxycodone hydrochloride, possession of marijuana and eight counts of possession of drug paraphernalia involving a Sept. 17 incident at his residence.

In addition to possessing the three drugs, Shields is accused of possessing a black metal grinder, black glass smoking pipe, multiple clear plastic zip bags, a multi-colored glass smoking pipe and a clear glass smoking device.

Shields was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Liquor law

SUNBURY - The Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Sunbury Steam Fire Engine Company at Center and Penn streets on Sept. 12 for failing to maintain complete and truthful records for two years pertaining to the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act. The fire company also was cited for sales to non-members.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Dennis Lentini Jr., 43, of Kulpmont, was cited Sept. 18 by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for harassment relating to a July 17 disturbance at West End Athletic Club, 301 N. Vine St.

Lentini, who is a club member and patron, is accused of repeatedly following a liquor control enforcement officer around the club and harassing her by asking numerous questions about her identity. Lentini also allegedly forced the officer to display her driver's license and threatened to run a background check on her through his job with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

The bureau said Lentini and other patrons followed the officer while she was leaving the club and told her they would check her vehicle for police items and also check her registration.

Burglary offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Eric J. Ginck, 34, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Lt. Christopher Buhay with burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and loitering and prowling at night.

Ginck is accused of stealing $7,611.94 worth of tools owned by Andrew Huber, of 337 S. Locust St., Mount Carmel. Police said the tools were stolen between Aug. 14 and Aug. 15 from 544 W. Second St., where Huber was performing renovations.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were filed by Patrolman Jason Drumheller against David Matthew Brown, 29, of 236 S. Vine St., Mount Carmel.

Police reported Brown is accused of stealing a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun owned by Raymond Kornacki, of 29 N. Chestnut St., on Sept. 3.

Simple assault

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Michelle L. Duttry, 42, of 102 Nottingham Drive, Elysburg, was charged by Cpl. Bryon Chowka with simple assault and harassment involving a Sept. 13 disturbance at her home.

Police reported Duttry grabbed her daughter Maranda Stine by the hair, hit her head against a refrigerator several times and pushed her into a kitchen table and chair before throwing her onto the floor. Stine suffered multiple injuries, police said.

Duttry was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury after failing to post $20,000 bail.

Duttry waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and was ordered to appear for plea court Oct. 21 in Northumberland County Court, where she can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

DUI

LOCUST GAP - Ronald R. Dimm III, 28, of 22 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, speeding and careless driving involving a May 16 traffic stop at the intersection of Main Street and Route 901.

Police reported Dimm had alprazolam and oxycodone in his blood system.

DUI

ATLAS - Patrolman Matthew Filarski has charged Jason D. Pachutski, 29, of 137 Greco Lane, Mount Carmel, with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, resisting arrest, failure to drive in a single lane, careless driving and failure to sign his registration card.

Police reported the charges relate to a July 10 accident between Laurel and Girard streets.

Police said Pachutski refused to undergo chemical testing to determine his blood alcohol content.

Illegal use of solvents

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kristen Blass, 30, of 141 S. Owl St., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman David Sage with illegal use of solvents and noxious substances and disorderly conduct relating to a Sept. 13 incident in the parking lot at Walmart Supercenter along Route 61.

Police reported Blass inhaled a can of Ultra Duster so she could experience a high from the vapors while knowing the solvent can have harmful or fatal effects. A witness who became alarmed from seeing Blass inhale the solvent called police.

Motorcycle rider hurt

GOWEN CITY - A man from the Coatesville area of Chester County was injured about 12:30 p.m. Saturday when his motorcycle struck a wooden guard rail post along Route 125.

The driver, who was not identified, was traveling south when he veered to avoid an animal, hit the post and went over a small embankment. The man, who was with a group of motorcyclists, suffered a leg injury.

It was not known if he was transported to a hospital.

State police at Stonington investigated, and East Cameron, Trevorton and Area Ambulance personnel responded.

Motorcyclist injured

GOWEN CITY - A Royersford man suffered what state police described as a "major injury" Saturday after he struck fence posts along Route 125 and was thrown from a motorcycle.

Timothy R. Kronstain, 32, was wearing a helmet at the time of the 1 p.m. crash, according to state police at Stonington. He was taken by AREA Services ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was listed in serious condition Sunday night.

Kronstain was driving a 2007 Honda 1300 south in East Cameron Township when he lost control of the motorcycle along a curve. He veered off the roadway and struck fence posts, causing him to be thrown to the ground.

Reports from the scene Saturday indicated he had veered to avoid an animal, although police did not include that in a public information report.

Police said he will be cited for speeding.

Criminal mischief

TREVORTON - Brent Bartholomew, of Trevorton, was cited for criminal mischief by state police at Stonington following an incident at 932 W. Coal St., at 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Police reported that Bartholomew allegedly broke the screen of a laptop computer owned by Kirsten Wynn, of Trevorton, during the incident. The computer is valued at approximately $400 and the citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III of Shamokin.

Abandoned vehicle

SHAMOKIN - Brandon A. Franzyshen, 22, of 715 N. Vine St., Apt. A, Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Mark Costa for violating the city's abandoned vehicle ordinance relating to an Aug. 28 incident on Eighth Street near Lincoln Street.

Police said Franzyshen's vehicle had an expired registration and inspection.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Timothy D. Alexander, 34, of 3930 Route 61, Sunbury, was charged with harassment following an altercation at his residence at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

State police at Stonington say Alexander allegedly struck the victim, James E. Buckles, 43, of 27 Johns St., Sunbury, on the face with a closed fist.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Benjamin J. Apfelbaum of Sunbury.

Fight charges

SHAMOKIN - Timothy M. Nye, 29, of 52 S. First St., Coal Township, was cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for harassment and disorderly conduct involving a fight at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday at the Home Plate, 4 S. Second St.

Debit card fraud

SUNBURY - Cynthia Lee Header, 67, of Comfort Road, Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington that at approximately 5 p.m. Sept. 16, several charges were made on her Visa debit card without her permission or knowledge.

Endangers children

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Dawn M. McCann, 36, and her brother, Kenneth D. Baylis, 46, both of 228 W. Walnut St., Shamokin, were charged by Patrolman Christopher Grow with endangering the welfare of children and public drunkenness involving a fight at 3:40 a.m. Friday in the parking lot at Sheetz on South Market Street in Elysburg.

Baylis also was charged with failing to have a 3-year-old child restrained in a car seat while McCann was charged with disorderly conduct.

Drug charges

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Charges of criminal mischief, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed by Patrolman Christopher Grow against Jarred S. Derck, 29, of Ashland, relating to a March 29 incident at Miller's Gas and Oil along Route 61 at Weigh Scales.

Police reported Derck kicked a rear door at the business and was found in possession of six bags of heroin, syringes and packing for heroin.

Assault

KULPMONT - Vincent T. Crosby, 49, of 702 Spruce St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Patrick McAndrew with aggravated assault, simple assault, two counts of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and harassment involving a domestic disturbance at 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

Upon responding to the disturbance involving Crosby and his wife, Helena, police said the defendant became combative and had to be handcuffed after approaching McAndrew in an aggressive manner. Police said Vincent Crosby also kicked McAndrew in the left side of the jaw as the officer was waiting for assistance.

Explorer hits tree

MIFFLIN TOWNSHIP - Steven K. Glick, 21, of Dornsife, escaped injury early Monday morning when a 2004 Ford Explorer he was driving crashed into a tree along Shippen Dam Road near Boyer Road in this Dauphin County township.

State police at Lykens reported Glick was traveling east at 12:26 a.m. at approximately 70 miles per hour when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash into a tree.

Police said Glick was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. He also was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

Emergency personnel from Berrysburg Fire Department and Upper Dauphin assisted at the scene.

Cruelty to animals

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - A Watsontown man was charged with cruelty to animals following the shooting of a dog at a home at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday.

State police at Milton reported Wayne M. Vanblargan, 69, of 7340 State Route 54, Watsontown, noticed a German Shepherd dog, owned by Shawn and Kristy McNett, of Watsontown, on his property and approached the dog. According to police, Vanblargan was standing 15 feet from the dog and fired two rounds from a .22 caliber rifle, fatally wounding the dog, a family pet.

The charges were filed with Senior Magisterial District Judge Richard Cashman's office in Milton.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Michael R. Fletcher, 24, of 830 Pine St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Patrick McAndrew with three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and a stop sign violation relating to a July 6 traffic stop at Fourth and Hickory streets.

Police reported Fletcher had a blood-alcohol content of .249 percent and also had marijuana in his blood system.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Michael F. Dombroski, 34, of 5065 Upper Road, Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Keith Tamborelli with three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance or combination of drugs, restrictions on alcoholic beverages and a lighting violation relating to a July 5 traffic stop at Pennsylvania Avenue and Vine Street.

Police said Dombroski had a blood-alcohol content of .173 percent and also had Nordiazepam and Oxycodone in his blood system.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Chief of Police Todd Owens has charged Jake D. Stellar, 24, of 245 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, with two counts of simple assault and one count of harassment.

Police reported Stellar is accused of assaulting his mother, Kimberly Johnson, inside 245 E. Fourth St. at 11:30 a.m. Sunday and spitting in her face before leaving the residence.

Case waived

MOUNT CARMEL - Robert J. Csatlos, 27, of 351 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, waived to court Wednesday four counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance or combination of drugs and a lighting violation involving a July 27 traffic stop on Front Street in Strong.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell.

Csatlos was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to appear for plea court Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

Charges waived

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Robert W. Buettner Jr., 23, of Bear Gap, waived to court Wednesday a charge of false identification to law enforcement authorities and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to appear for plea court Nov. 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

Buettner was charged by Ralpho Township Patrolman Stephen Spade in connection with an April 24 incident on Bear Gap Road.

Criminal trespass

MOUNT CARMEL - Tina Green, 44, of 423 N. Maple St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit criminal trespass, interfering with the custody of children, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief relating to a disturbance at about 6 a.m. Sept. 14 at 122 E. Fourth St.

Police said Green allegedly removed an air conditioner and smashed a front-door window at the home of her mother, Laura Green, in an attempt to see her 4-year-old daughter, who has been placed in Laura Green's care by Northumberland County Children and Youth Services. Police said a court order prevents the defendant from having contact with her daughter.

Police said Tina Green resisted arrest at her residence and threatened to kill people she claimed were responsible for acts committed against her daughter.

Tina Green was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Charges withdrawn

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Police on Friday announced they have withdrawn charges of burglary, criminal trespass and loitering and prowling at night that were filed against Joshua Michael Daya, 30, of 134 W. Center St., Apt 2A, Elysburg, related to an Oct. 1 burglary at 122 N. Market St.

Police had originally said Daya was confronted inside the residence of Virginia Nefsky and later apprehended.

Car hits tree

ELDRED TOWNSHIP - Sandra L. Buffington, 50, of Valley View, was transported by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville after being injured Friday when her car crashed into a tree at the intersection of Helfenstein Road and Creek Road in this Schuylkill County township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported Buffington was driving a 2005 Ford Mustang west on Helfenstein Road at 5:50 p.m. when, for an unknown reason, her auto traveled across the oncoming lane, exited the road and crashed head-on into a tree.

Buffington was listed Saturday in fair condition, according to a nursing supervisor at Geisinger.

She was cited for failure to drive in a single lane.

Assisting police and ambulance personnel at the scene were firefighters from Pitman and Hegins.

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Stan E. Campbell, 59, of 173 Snowdale Road, Herndon, was charged with driving under the influence and careless driving following the investigation of a crash on Route 225 at 10th Street in Zerbe Township at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Nicholas Berger, of the Stonington barracks, reported that chemical blood testing following the accident showed Campbell's blood alcohol level to be .143 percent at the time.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Burning violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - James R. Walsh, 54, of 138 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, was cited by Coal Township Police for a burning violation after allegedly setting and maintaining a fire of various items in Big Mountain, a quarter-mile south of Montgomery Street. The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Liquor violation

PAXINOS - The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Glosser Motor Inn, of 1134 W. Valley Ave., Paxinos, on Oct. 10 for violating the bureau's container laws by failing to break empty liquor bottles within 24 hours; fortified, adulterated and/or contaminated liquor, and refilled liquor.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. In addition, the judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge, or mandate training for the licensee in an effort to educate them on the requirements of being a licensee.

DUI charges filed

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Shamokin charged Kelly A. Wiest, 45, of 151 Hillside Ave., Elysburg, with driving under the influence, driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, driving on roadways laned for traffic and careless driving following an investigation into a crash in the area of 4120 Snydertown Road at 6:57 p.m. Aug. 11.

According to court documents, blood testing showed Wiest had prescription medication in her system at the time of the crash and admitted to talking Adderal approximately one hour before.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Nuisance violations

SHAMOKIN - City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano cited the following individuals under Shamokin's building nuisance ordinance on Monday.

- Ola A. Adedeji, of 204-206 W. Mulberry St., Shamokin, because the property at the same address is in danger of collapsing.

- Keith D. Musser, 58, of 1114 Susquehanna Drive, Sunbury, for a dilapidated structure at 624 W. Mulberry St.

- Jhoel Leonardo, of 13201 95th St., South Richmond Hill, New York, N.Y., for a dilapidated structure at 625 E. Commerce St., Shamokin.

Simple assault

COAL TOWNSHIP - Samuel Swartzlander, 25, of 225 Main St., Coal Township, was placed in Northumberland County Prison on $15,000 bail following a domestic dispute at his residence at 6:13 p.m. Monday.

Township police report Swartzlander came to his home and began to argue with his live-in girlfriend, Brittany Gemberling, 20, and then retrieved a knife from the kitchen and pointed it at Gemberling while arguing with her.

At one point, he threw the knife in the opposite direction, sending it flying over his six-month old daughter, who was sitting on the kitchen floor. At first, Gemberling was unable to call for help, but after Swartzlander left the home, she called 911 and officers were dispatched.

Police learned he went to a relative's house in Sunbury, and Sunbury City Police took him into custody and was later picked up by Coal Township Police at Sunbury Community Hospital.

He was video-arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III of Shamokin, and charged with possessing instruments of a crime, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington said someone damaged a mailbox owned by Todd M. James sometime between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday at his residence on Plum Creek Road. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact state police at 286-5601.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police are currently investigating a hit-and-run accident at 4:08 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Walnut Street when the suspect vehicle, described as a grayish boxy type SUV with New Jersey registration, struck a Coal Township traffic control device, then drove through a yard and left the scene.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jessica Stankiewicz, 29, of 1110 W. Mulberry St., reported to police that someone damaged the mirrors on her 2000 Pontiac Grand Am sometime between Friday and Saturday, while it was parked in her driveway.

Fire not suspicious

SHAMOKIN - The fire that was contained to a living room at 8 S. Vine St. Tuesday night is not considered suspicious and the investigation is ongoing, said Shamokin Fire Bureau Deputy Chief Jason Zimmerman Wednesday.

The property is owned by Mike Long Jr., of Tampa, Fla., and managed by Mike Long Sr., of 859 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township. The house is rented by Billie Jo Artman, 36, and her three children, Paige, 16, Zack, 12, and McKenna, 6.

Defiant trespass

UNION TOWNSHIP - An Ashland woman faces a charge of defiant trespass following an incident at a horse farm on Aristes Road Sept. 13.

State police at Frackville report at 6:15 p.m. the husband of the property owner, Sheri Boyer, of Ringtown, went to the property to tend to the farm animals. Upon arrival, he found two females, one an adult and the other a juvenile, inside the gates of the property, rummaging through a tool shed. The man confronted the pair and the adult, identified as Barbara Umlauf, 61, of Ashland, claimed there was a complaint of animal cruelty and that she was investigating it.

The females then left the property and walked down the road to an SUV, then drove away. The husband then inspected the property and noted the corral fencing for his horse pen had been moved so the horse could not reach a water barrel. Boyer arrived and noted trespassing signs were missing.

Police charged Umlauf with a misdemeanor charge of defiant trespass and cited her for criminal mischief. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale, of Frackville, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled before Hale on Dec. 18.

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone damaged a mailbox at the residence of Rebecca Croyle, 63, of Captain Bloom Road, Sunbury, between 3:30 Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.

DUI offenses

SHAMOKIN - Krystal V. Seger, 26, of 46 N. Seventh St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with driving under the influence of drugs not medically prescribed, driving under the influence of drugs that made her incapable of safe driving, driving under the influence of a solvent or noxious substance and reckless driving in connection with a Sept. 25 accident in the first block of North Market Street.

Police said Seger had a solvent known as difluorethane and marijuana in her blood system while operating a vehicle.

Stolen tools sold

MOUNT CARMEL - Kimberly A. Olearnick, 27, of 240 S. Beech St., was charged by borough police Lt. Chris Buhay with receiving stolen property after an investigation into an Aug. 15 burglary at 544 W. Second St., a house unoccupied and under renovation. Police allege Olearnick stole tools and sold them to a Sunbury pawn shop.

She was arraigned Wednesday on the charge and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones is scheduled Nov. 6.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Kathleen E. Ruchko, 55, of 147 N. Chestnut St., was charged with driving under the influence and careless driving following an accident in the 300 block of South Hickory Street at 5:31 p.m. Oct. 19. Ruchko allegedly told police she had been drinking and ingesting heroin earlier. She refused to submit to breath and chemical blood testing, police said.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones is set Dec. 4.

Access device fraud

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph S. Spagnolo, 36, and Heather Lynn Mattingly, 34, both of 246 S. Oak St., Apt. 2, were charged with access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and three counts of criminal conspiracy after an investigation into the fraudulent use of another person's credit card.

Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Jason Drumheller reported in court documents that Spagnolo and Mattingly used a Discover credit card owned by Robert Ficca to make purchases and cash advances at the Dollar General store totalling $298.85.

Both individuals were released on $10,000 unsecured bail with a preliminary hearing scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, on Nov. 6.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Scott A. Capps Jr., 32, of 908 E. Packer St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III with criminal mischief involving an Oct. 13 disturbance in the 200 block of West Spruce Street.

Police said Capps is accused of causing a large dent on the driver's side front door of a 2010 GMC sport utility vehicle owned by Marian Smith. Police said a damage estimate to repair the door is $1,583.46.

Multiple offenses

SHAMOKIN - Robert L. Blake, 44, of 620 N. Fifth St., Sunbury, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with five counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, driving under suspension, driving on the wrong side of the road and operating a vehicle without a certificate of inspection.

The charges relate to an Oct. 12 incident at Walnut and Market streets.

Police said Blake had a blood-alcohol content of .222 percent and had marijuana in his blood system.

DUI

KULPMONT - Jeffrey M. Bogovich, 43, of 1122 Scott St., was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and general lighting requirements following a traffic stop on Route 61 in Kulpmont at 12:45 a.m. Sept. 2.

State police trooper David Townsend filed the charges with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 6.

Copper stolen

GIRARDVILLE - State police at Frackville reported someone entered a residence at 37 Preston Ave. owned by Rick J. Gomosky, 62, of Ashland, during the past year and removed approximately 50 feet of copper pipe and 100 feet of copper wire from the basement. The damage is estimated at $3,000.

The burglary was discovered Monday.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Charges of driving under the influence and a variety of summary offenses were filed against Scott M. Eveland, 43, of 1341 W. Arch St., Coal Township, following a traffic stop by state police trooper Thomas Leib in the area of Route 901 near Route 54 at 1:12 a.m. Sept. 21.

According to court documents, chemical blood testing showed Eveland's alcohol level to be .147 percent. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 20 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Alexis A. Day, 31, of 527 E. Mahanoy St., Mahanoy City, was charged with retail theft by Coal Township Police Patrolman Matthew Hashuga following an incident at the Walmart SuperCenter on Oct. 16.

According to court documents, Day allegedly entered the store at 7:30 p.m. and selected a baby monitor and breast pump. Day then took the items to the courtesy desk and returned the merchandise, fraudulently receiving a gift card for $233.05, according to court documents.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic, of Shamokin. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Vehicle owner cited

SHAMOKIN - City police cited Brandon A. Franzyshen, 22, of 715 N. Vine St., for violating Shamokin's abandoned vehicle ordinance by parking a vehicle with expired registration and inspection stickers on a city street Oct. 8.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Chelsea R. Lentini, 22, of 422 W. Second St., was charged with driving under the influence and careless driving following a crash in the area of 247 E. Avenue at 1:34 a.m. Oct. 4.

Borough police were called to the scene for a crash and Lentini told the officers that she swerved to miss an animal and struck two parked vehicles. Officers noted that Lentini appeared to be under the influence and had her submit to chemical blood testing, which showed her blood alcohol level to be .205 percent at the time of the crash.

The charges against Lentini were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - Tonya Rosetta 33, of 195 Jefferson Lane, Sunbury, was charged with harassment by police after allegedly pretending to be her husband, Michael Rosetta, and sent several harassing text message to Rosetta's ex-wife, Holly Bentley, 32, of West Pine Street.

On Oct. 9, Tonya Rosetta was warned not to have any contact with Bentley.

Criminal mischief

SUNBURY - State police at Stonington said someone damaged a driveway light column valued at $500 at Sunbury Animal Hospital, Route 890, sometime between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Oct. 25.

New driver hits vehicles, porch

MIDDLEPORT - A 19-year-old Myerstown man who was learning to drive struck three vehicles and a front porch at 4:43 p.m. Friday at 12 N. Second St., according to state police at Frackville.

Trooper Paul Hardnock said Nicholas Parsons was attempting to parallel park a 1986 Chevrolet Blazer at the Schuylkill County address, when he sped forward and struck a 1984 Coleman pop-up camper owned by Kevin Bressler, 46, of Middleport.

After hitting the camper, Parsons continued forward and struck a parked 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer owned by Mario Davila, of 384 W. Snyder Ave., Lansford, said police.

The Trailblazer was pushed into a 2009 Toyota Scion owned by Stephen Stefan, of 10 N. Second St., Middleport, said police.

Parson then drove the Blazer into the front porch of 12 N. Second St., owned by Sandra Butcavage, and caused moderate damage, police said.

The Blazer and Trailblazer were towed from the scene, police said.

Burglary

LITTLE MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington said someone entered the home of Jessica Nungesser, 36, of Dornsife, at approximately 8:45 p.m. Friday.

Trooper David Myers said it's not known how that person entered her house, and nothing was taken from the residence.
