Barking dog

SHAMOKIN - Andrew L. Adams, 34, of 418 W. Arch St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for allowing his dog to bark continuously at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the rear of his home.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Jesse James Geist, 24, of 1577 Wabash St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for harassment for allegedly hitting a 13-year-old boy at about 5:30 p.m. Monday in the first block of North Grant Street.

Open beer

SHAMOKIN - Gary A. Cook, 32, of 1013 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for possessing an open container of beer at Cameron and Rock streets at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Retail theft

SELINSGROVE - Shawna Houser, 19, and Summer Smith, 18, both of Shamokin, were cited by state police at Selinsgrove for retail theft for allegedly stealing $59.17 in merchandise from Wal-Mart on Routes 11-15 at 7:14 p.m. Wednesday.

Theft of services

SHAMOKIN - Leshaun Lofton, 29, of 415 Spurzheim St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for theft of services for allegedly placing several bags of garbage in a Dumpster owned by someone else at Water and Washington streets at 9:37 p.m. May 1.

Forgery

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of forgery, tampering with records or identification, theft and receiving stolen property were filed by Chief of Police Brian Hollenbush against Jane Ellen Madrak, 54, of 46 N. Oak St., Apt. A, Mount Carmel.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Madrak is accused of stealing and forging two checks totaling $275 belonging to Leonard A. Zlocki, of 445 E. North St., Marion Heights. Police said the checks were stolen from Zlocki's home and cashed at Susquehanna Bank.

Madrak was arraigned by Jones on Thursday and released on $15,000 unsecured bail.

Pleads guilty

MOUNT CARMEL - Robert Leroy Persing III, 22, of 1 Clarion St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and violating a borough ordinance pertaining to discharging a firearm and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a total of $500 in fines plus costs.

Additional charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct were withdrawn.

Persing was charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka in connection with an April 14 disturbance at 919 Chestnut St., Apt. A, Kulpmont, in which he allegedly fired a shot from a handgun into the floor of the apartment in an effort to stop his mother, Patricia Betz, from fighting with his girlfriend, Brooke Mulac.

Driver not injured

NORTHUMBERLAND - A Sunbury driver who lost control of his vehicle and struck three parked cars May 11 was not injured, according to state police at Stonington.

Trooper David Townsend reported that Michael J. Lauver, 23, was traveling east at noon on Race Street between Fifth and Sixth streets in a 1997 Suzuki Sidekick when he struck a Mazda 8, a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2004 Dodge Neon that were all parked on the right side of the roadway.

Lauver came to final rest in the middle of the roadway after hitting all three vehicles, police said.

He was wearing his seatbelt, and he will be cited for a traffic violtion, police said.

Domestic assault

SHAMOKIN - A 20-year-old Shamokin man remained jailed Monday in Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, after he allegedly punched a woman inside his home Saturday night.

Glen Alan Shurock Jr., of 15 N. Diamond St., was engaged in a domestic dispute with the woman between 10 and 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he allegedly grabbed her, smacked her in the face and then punched her in the eye, according to court papers.

The woman suffered swelling and discoloration to her left eye. She told police she was holding a baby at the time of the alleged assault.

Shurock is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with misdemeanors of simple assault and harassment and a summary count of underage drinking.

He was arraigned at 1:45 a.m. Sunday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and jailed on $15,000 straight bail. A preliminary hearing is set for May 28.

Patrolman Scott Weaver assisted at the scene.

Burglary charge

SHAMOKIN - A 19-year-old Trevorton man is accused of robbing and ransacking a city home overnight Saturday.

Tyler Smith, of 421 W. Market St., was arrested on a felony burglary charge hours after he was cited by city police with retail theft in an unrelated incident.

Police say Smith confessed to breaking into Eric Ginck's home at 108 Elm St., gaining access to a window by standing on an orange container atop a blue barrel. Once inside, he allegedly ransacked the house, causing thousands of dollars in damage before leaving with a TV and a portable DVD player.

Smith told police he took the TV to a local pawn shop after hours, and in attempting to leave it behind on a dresser outside the shop, it fell to the ground and smashed, according to court papers. The DVD player was found inside his backpack after he fled the scene of a disturbance Saturday at 10 N. Seventh St. Officers eventually made contact with Smith and took him into custody at 1782 Wabash St., Coal Township.

Smith is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with felony burglary and misdemeanor loitering and prowling at night. He was arraigned at 1:45 a.m. Sunday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. He remained in Northumberland County Prison on Monday in lieu of $12,000 straight bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for May 28.

In the unrelated incident, Smith is accused by Scandle of stealing three cans of beef jerky and one pack of Slim Jims from the Lincoln Street Turkey Hill about 12:37 a.m. Saturday.

Punched in face

SHAMOKIN - A 40-year-old Shamokin man faces multiple charges after allegedly punching a woman in the face during an argument at Race and Franklin streets on March 30.

Paul Joseph Delbo Jr., of 43 N. Marshall St., is charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

The victim told police she and Delbo were outdoors when he struck her in the face after 11 p.m. and then fled the scene. She fled, too, and sought treatment at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital. She said she suffered a broken nose and reported the alleged assault the next day.

Delbo was arraigned at 10 a.m. Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for May 28.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - Joseph Miscavage IV, 19, of 244 W. Sunbury St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for underage drinking for an incident at 12:37 a.m. Saturday at Seventh and Arch streets.

Driver cited

SHAMOKIN - Brandon Franzyshen, 22, of 2 W. Lincoln St., Apt. 1, Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for driving with a suspended license for an incident at 8 p.m. Friday at Lincoln and Eighth streets.

Curfew violation

SHAMOKIN - Two city girls, 14 years old and 13 years old, were cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for breaking curfew after the officer encountered the pair shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday at Lincoln and Eighth streets.

They were released into the custody of an adult.

The city's curfew is 11 p.m. for minors.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Diane Ruth Feese, 50, of 540B Edison Ave., Sunbury, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with two counts of harassment for allegedly striking two people inside Quinny's Pub, 302 S. Market St., after she was asked to leave the bar about 9:14 p.m. May 1.

Retail theft

MONROE TOWNSHIP - Jason M. Bills, 24, of Coal Township, was charged with retail theft by state police at Selinsgrove after allegedly placing multiple amounts of kitchenware products in a shopping cart and attempting to leave without paying for them at 3:58 p.m. Friday. The total amount of merchandise taken was $104.83.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John H. Reed, of Selinsgrove.

Liquor violation

SHAMOKIN - Rob's Good Time Grill, 100 S. Market St., was cited Thursday by state police's Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for a liquor law violation for alleged past incidents.

State police say a minor was served alcohol at Rob's on Dec. 18 and Jan. 15.

Resisting arrest

ASHLAND - A borough man was tasered by police following a domestic incident at 930 Middle St. at 8:05 a.m. Monday.

Borough police Patrolman Mark O'Hearn said officers were called to the scene earlier for a disturbance between William Smith, 31, of 930 Middle St., Ashland, and Paula Schistel. Smith fled the scene before police arrived and the authorities searched the area because Smith reportedly had a knife.

Smith was found hiding a block away under a porch, but fled when spotted by police. He returned to his home and tried to escape from a second-story porch, but was held by his waist by Lt. Dan Holderman of the Butler Township Police. Smith fought with police in an attempt to escape down a stairwell, police said, but was tasered and taken into custody.

Smith was charged with resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension, persistent disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale of Frackville. Schistel was not charged in the incident but was taken into custody on an outstanding bench warrant and committed to Schuylkill County Prison by Butler Township Police.

Borough officers were assisted at the scene by officers of the Butler Township and Girardville Police departments.

Obscene language

SHAMOKIN - David K. Hogestyn, 41, of 343 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for disorderly conduct for allegedly using obscene language multiple times at his residence at 5:20 p.m. Monday.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Robert Marlin Rickert, 23, of South Apple Street, Mount Carmel, has been charged by Chief Todd Owens and Patrolman Matthew Dillman with criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver mushrooms and marijuana, possession of mushrooms and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children relating to a Dec. 21 incident at his residence.

Sobriety checkpoints

POTTSVILLE - The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group and Coal Township police will conduct roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints Thursday through Wednesday, May 29, on Routes 61, 225, 125, 54, 487, 901 and 147 or other connecting roads to municipalities.

Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by dialing 911. To report underage drinking, call 1-888-under-21.

The roving patrols and checkpoints are funded through PennDOT and National Highway Safety Administration.

Items stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Crystal Hogan, 22, of 1526 Pulaski Ave., told Coal Township Police someone removed an orange and black cigarette machine, valued at $60; a basket; a bag of Raze tobacco, valued at $40, and $20 in cash from the rear porch of her residence sometime between 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Peggy Pahutka, 63, of 1780 W. Wood St., reported to police a hit-and-run crash involving her 2010 Ford Escape. Pahutka told police the accident occurred in either Ranshaw, Masser's or Weis Markets May 17. The driver's side front and rear doors were damaged.

Lost or stolen phone

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kirk Weaver, of 1019 W. Willow St., told township police his son's brown LG Octaine phone was either lost or stolen from the Shamokin Area Middle/High School while he was at basketball practice between 5 and 7 p.m. May 14.

Found phone

COAL TOWNSHIP - A black cell phone was turned into Coal Township Police. Anyone wishing to claim the phone can provide a description to the police.

Waives charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph R. McClain-Broden, 23, of 134 S. Oak St., Apt. B, second floor, Mount Carmel, waived to court Wednesday two counts of simple assault and one count of harassment involving a disturbance at his apartment in early April.

McClain-Broden was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Jason Drumheller with assaulting his roommate, Mark Lender.

McClain-Broden was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to appear for plea court June 24 at Northumberland County Courthouse in Sunbury, where he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

Resists arrest

MOUNT CARMEL - Brian George Santelli, 20, of 1438 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was arraigned Wednesday on charges of resisting arrest, loitering and prowling at night, underage drinking and criminal trespass involving an incident that occurred earlier in the day in the 600 block of West Fifth Street.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Mount Carmel Cpl. David Donkochik, Santelli and two other males were found sitting inside a school bus near Mount Carmel Area High School at about 1:20 a.m. Police detected a strong odor of alcohol on Santelli's breath and said the defendant became verbally aggressive before resisting arrest, prompting Donkochik and Kulpmont Officer Michael Pitcavage to wrestle him into a seat on the bus before handcuffing him.

Santelli was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones after failing to post $20,000 bail.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Ryan P. Williams, 33, of 24 E. Third St., Apt. 400, Mount Carmel, has been charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski with two counts of simple assault and one count of harassment and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 2 p.m. Tuesday at his apartment.

Police reported Williams is accused of punching Kimberly Resh in the face multiple times, causing injury.

Williams was committed Tuesday to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury after failing to post $1,000 bail at his arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. The defendant posted bail Wednesday morning and was released from prison.

Domestic dispute

EXCELSIOR - A 32-year-old Coal Township man was jailed Tuesday after he allegedly caused a disturbance in Excelsior by shouting, continuously honking his vehicle's horn and kicking and throwing rocks at his girlfriend's Jeep, according to court papers.

The alleged incident occurred about 10 p.m. outside the home of Rose Rickert, 140 Lower Excelsior Road, after her daughter, Kim, said she wouldn't leave with Aaron Bressi to go to his home at 1727 Pulaski Ave. Police said the younger Rickert was frightened by his actions.

Bressi was subsequently taken into custody outside of his home where he reportedly was throwing boxes of Rickert's clothing onto the porch and into the street.

He is charged by Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with two counts of disorderly conduct. He was arraigned late Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin, and remanded to Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $10,000 straight bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 11.

Theft

JORDAN TOWNSHIP - The cellphone of Thomas Carl Bohler, 54, of 496 Schwartz Road, Herndon, was stolen from his 1993 Saturn Coupe while it was parked in the area of Raupstal and Schwartz roads between midnight May 19 and 3 p.m. May 20, according to state police at Stonington.

Trooper James A. Yankovich said that anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 286-5601.

Driver flees scene

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are continuing their search today for the driver of a 2003 Saab 93 involved in an accident early Thursday morning on Route 3004.

Police said the operator was traveling north at 4:25 a.m. in the right lane when the car exited the road while negotiating a slight left uphill curve. The auto then struck a ditch with its front end, spun around and came to rest with its rear end partially on the road.

The car sustained minor damage.

Police said the driver is facing a citation for driving too fast for road conditions.

Pleads guilty

MOUNT CARMEL - Katie Marie Keister, 18, of Hegins, pleaded guilty Wednesday to disorderly conduct and providing false identification to law enforcement authorities and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for 12 months.

Additional charges of resisting arrest, two counts of unsworn falsification to authorities, hindering apprehension or prosecution and false reports were withdrawn.

Keister was charged by Mount Carmel Lt. Christopher Buhay in connection with an April 10 incident in which Donnie T. Carl, 26, of Hegins, allegedly fired a shot into an occupied apartment building at the corner of South Beech and West Sixth streets.

False name to police

BEAR GAP - Robert W. Buettner, 22, of 6 Polk Road, was charged with giving false identification to police following an April 24 traffic stop on Bear Gap Road.

Ralpho Township Police officer Stephen Spade reported in court documents that Buettner, a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly gave police a false name when asked about his identity.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is set for June 19.

Criminal mischief

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Skie Campbell, 19, of Zerbe Township, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and 2:50 p.m. Friday, someone pushed over a lamp post in her front yard.

Rollover crash

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Emergency crews were called to the scene of a rollover crash in the area of 3045 Irish Valley Road, at 3:50 p.m. Saturday.

State police at Selinsgrove reported a 2009 Toyota Highlander, driven by Roseanne Wagner, of Cherry Street, Paxinos, was traveling west on Irish Valley Road, when police said Wagner began to fall asleep. Police said that the Highlander crossed the yellow lines and struck an embankment on the eastbound lane. The vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on its roof in the eastbound travel lane.

Police said that the Highlander was disabled, but no injuries were reported.

DUI

BUTLER TOWNSHIP - Francis Gaffney, 41, of Ashland, will be charged by state police at Frackville with driving under the influence of alcohol and numerous other violations relating to a traffic stop at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday on Route 4030 near Route 54 in this Schuylkill County township.

Runaway teen

SUNBURY - State police at Stonington reported Damon Michael Magnuson, 14, of 95 S. Main St., Sunbury, has been missing since 2 p.m. Wednesday when he left his home following an argument with his father.

Police said the teen was reported missing at 2:20 p.m. Sunday.

Anyone with information about the missing boy is urged to call state police at 286-5601.

Juvenile escapes

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township police say a 17-year-old male from the Stroudsburg area escaped from Northwestern Academy at 4:15 a.m. Sunday. Officers conducted a search of the area around the academy, but the male was not found. Authorities also notified Stroudsburg Police of the escape.

Retail theft

SELINSGROVE - Steven Randall, 22, of Coal Township, was cited by state police at Selinsgrove for retail theft for allegedly stealing $358.28 in merchandise from Wal-Mart along Routes 11-15 at 6:18 p.m. Saturday.

Public drunkenness

COAL TOWNSHIP - Edward Klock, 25, of 209 Trevorton Road, Shamokin, was cited for public drunkenness after being found sitting on a porch on West Pine Street, Shamokin, at 4:46 a.m. Saturday.

Officer Joshua M. Wynn reported that police were called to the home for a report of an intoxicated male sitting on the home owner's porch. An investigation determined that Klock had been drinking and was intoxicated and had been walking in public before entering the home owner's private porch.

Klock told police he was looking for the home of a friend and must have gone to the wrong house.

DUI, terroristic threats

SHAMOKIN DAM - Charles Alan Campbell, 58, of Shamokin Dam, who led police on a chase early Saturday morning after being stopped for a traffic violation on Routes 11-15 near Monroe Market Place, has been charged with multiple offenses.

State police at Selinsgrove reported Campbell fled the scene and was pursued to his residence, where he finally stopped his vehicle. Police said Campbell threatened to strike troopers and was subsequently arrested for aggravated assault, terroristic threats, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police, and multiple summary violations.

PFA violation

STONINGTON - Jose A. Echevarria, 21, of Reading was charged by state police at Stonington with violating a protection from abuse order at 11:47 a.m. Sunday when he contacted a 29-year-old female from Sunbury, who has an active PFA order against him, at the Stonington Wesleyan Church.

Window smashed

SHAMOKIN - Michael Shinskie, 19, of 720 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, is accused of smashing out the rear window of a vehicle parked on the 700 block of North Franklin Street shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday. He was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with disorderly conduct and underage drinking.

One vehicle crash

BLYTHE TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on Route 61 in Blythe Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville report a 2003 Kia Sorento, driven by Colleen M. Gilgore, 37, of Ashland, was traveling north on Route 61 in an area known as "The Grade" and attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway when she lost control on the wet road and began to fishtail.

The Sorento then spun in a clockwise direction and traveled off the east berm of the roadway, striking a dirt embankment with its driver's side. Gilgore was uninjured in the crash.

Disorderly charge

SHAMOKIN - Thomas D. Duran Jr., 24, of 733 Scott St., Kulpmont, was cited by Patrolman Mark Costa for disorderly conduct for allegedly fighting at 2:50 a.m. May 17 at Market and Sunbury streets.

Downtown disturbance

SHAMOKIN - Steven Lezama Rivera, 22, of Shamokin, is charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct for an alleged disturbance May 11 outside a downtown bar.

Police say Rivera was observed shouting and shoving people outside Tiffany Lounge, 58 E. Independence St., about 1:30 a.m. while bar employees attempted to calm him down and prevent him from entering the bar.

He continued to act disorderly in the presence of officers and resisted them whiel he was placed in handcuffs, rolling on the ground and kicking at officers.

Rivera was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin, and remanded to Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $5,000 straight bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

Charges were filed by Cpl. Bryan Primerano.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Ronda Pollock, 46, of 140 S. First St., reported to police that some time between 11 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. Saturday, someone entered her yard and caused damage to several yard items.

Pollock told police someone knocked over a water fountain and damaged it, knocked over a bird bath, pulled wire cages for her vegetable plants from the garden, trampled down several flowers in her yard, bent and broke two tiki torches and knocked over a garden statue.

Burglary

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a burglary at 1412 W. Lynn St. that occurred between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. May 23.

DUI

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Kenneth Carl Bordner Jr., 39, of 924 Sunshine Road, Shamokin, has been charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without proper registration, driving under suspension, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

The charges relate to a May 5 traffic stop along Miller's Hill Road, just south of Route 225 in Zerbe Township.

Police reported Bordner had a blood-alcohol level of .112 percent.

DUI

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington charged Brad David Latshaw, 40, of 1207 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

Police said Latshaw had a blood alcohol content of .161 percent.

The charges involve a May 11 traffic stop on Route 61 in front of the state police station.

Unregistered vehicle

MOUNT CARMEL - Joanne E. Andruscavage, 33, of 143 Beaverdale St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with two counts of altering or forging plates, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without proper inspection and driving without insurance in connection with an April 19 incident in the 300 block of West Second Street.

Drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Melinda Sue Bugg, 25, of South Apple Street, Mount Carmel, was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on charges of criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver mushrooms and marijuana, possession of mushrooms and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of children by having a controlled substance within access of a child.

Bugg was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $30,000 bail.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Police Chief Todd Owens and Patrolman Matthew Dillman in connection with a Dec. 21 incident at her home.

Drug charges

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Sean P. Keegan, 27, of 9 N. Sixth St., Shamokin, was charged by Ralpho Township Patrolman Christopher Grow with possessing multiple bags of heroin and possessing drug paraphernalia March 7 along Route 487 in Elysburg.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Skyler M. Dornsife, 18, of 615 E. Webster St., Shamokin, was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $10,000 bail after being arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on two counts of criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Mount Carmel Cpl. David Donkochik, Dornsife stole $2,900 from the residence of Brenda and Robert Taylor, of 130 W. Second St., between May 4 and May 5.

PFA

KULPMONT - Robert L. Persing, 22, of 1 Clarion St., Shamokin, was charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Patrick McAndrew with violating a protection from abuse order by calling and texting Brooke Mulac on May 19 at 919 Chestnut St., Apt. A, Kulpmont.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Michael R. Wisnoskie, 19, of 76 Church St., Locust Gap, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with two counts of driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and a lighting violation.

The charges relate to a March 16 traffic stop along Route 901 near the former Boylan's Service Station.

Burglary offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Daniel C. Roden, 22, of 501 E. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief relating to an incident at a property under renovation at 250 E. Second St. that was damaged by fire in 2012.

Roden is charged by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with stealing a bear skin rug from the property between March 7 and April 25.

He was committed by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury after failing to post $25,000 bail.

Aggravated assault

KULPMONT - Kevin Michael Reed, 22, of 337 E. Center St., Mount Carmel, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, institutional vandalism, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, two counts of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness involving disturbances on April 27 at Tenth and Maple streets.

Reed, who was committed by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $20,000 bail, is accused by Patrolman Michael Pitcavage of punching out the windshield and passenger side window on a red Volkswagen owned by West End Automotive, screaming profanities at police, head-butting Pitcavage, resisting arrest and threatening to kick out the back windows on a police car upon being taken into custody.

While at Kulpmont Police Station, police said Reed kicked a hole in a wall and threatened to spit on AREA Ambulance Services employees when they attempted to treat him for a bleeding wrist.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - Larissa Justina Voeckler, 26, of 127 N. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with possession of drug paraphernalia involving an April 22 incident at her residence.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct were filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch against Belinda Sue Smith, 20, of 18 E. Railroad St., Apt. 1, Mount Carmel.

Smith is accused of slapping Christian Gartner in the face, ripping his shirt and tackling him. She also is charged with punching Erica Jones in the face, wrestling her to the ground, slamming her face on the pavement and choking her while trapping her between a vehicle tire and the curb.

Police said the assaults occurred May 15 in the first block of East Railroad Street.

Criminal trespass

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Jeffrey M. Murphy, 30, of 295 Slabtown Road, Apt. 1A, Catawissa, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with two counts of criminal trespass, possessing instruments of crime, criminal attempt to tamper with evidence and defiant trespass relating to a May 26 break-in at Joe's Auto Body in Natalie.

Murphy was arraigned on the charges and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $50,000 bail.

He waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday and was ordered to appear for plea court July 8 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

PFA

KULPMONT - Patrolman Patrick McAndrew charged Shane M. Wallace, 32, of Kulpmont, with violating a protection from abuse order filed against him by Kaitlyn Else, of 1339 Scott St.

Police said the incident occurred April 30 at Else's residence, where Wallace formerly resided.

Charges of burglary, criminal trespass, terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment filed by Patrolman Michael Pitcavage against Wallace were dismissed Wednesday when Else refused to testify against him.

Wallace was charged with committing the crimes March 30 at Else's residence.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jessica Hoover, 31, of 721 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, is charged by township police with possession of drug paraphernalia related to a Jan. 1 incident in which she allegedly left a purse at the home of Melissa Brokenshire, 41, of 515 S. Ash St., containing unspecified paraphernalia.

Retail theft

HUMMELS WHARF - Megan Thomas, 25, of Shamokin, is charged by state police at Stonington with retail theft for allegedly stealing clothing from the Strawberry Store in the Susquehanna Valley Mall at 6:45 p.m. May 18.

Ordinance violation

SHAMOKIN - William Miller, of 433 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was cited at 9 a.m. Monday by Code Enforcement Officer Rick Bozza for allowing trash and debris to accumulate all over his yard and grass to grow two feet high.

Miller also was cited by Bozza for allowing piles of household trash to accumulate in a common walkway.

Bozza said Miller was warned several times about the ordinance violations involving trash.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano cited Thomas Weigold, 49, of 110 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, for public drunkenness after Weigold was found unresponsive in the woods near the Patsy steps on South Rock Street at 6:40 p.m. Friday.

Weigold was transported to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Samantha M. Fryberger, 21, of 203 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for disorderly conduct for allegedly screaming shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of East Sunbury Street.

Bad checks

MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Todd A. Swineford, 45, of Trevorton, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with writing a bad check in the amount of $593 to N&H Garage, Route 104, Mount Pleasant Mills on March 15, which was later returned for insufficient funds. The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Lori R. Hackenburg, of Middleburg.

Heroin charges

ELYSBURG - Three people face drug charges after they were allegedly found by police in possession of heroin and syringes March 7 along Route 487 near the former Paper Magic.

Patrolman Christopher Grow, Ralpho Township Police, encountered the three about 5:40 p.m. after the vehicle in which they were traveling pulled off the highway due to a flat tire, according to court papers.

The vehicle's driver, Sean Keegan, 27, of Shamokin, and Donald J. Ponatoski, 27, of Coal Township, are each charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Barry Anoia, 27, of Coal Township, faces the same charges along with one count of providing false identification.

Charges were filed May 6.

Another passenger, Gary Dombroski, has not been charged.

Multiple blue bags were found inside the vehicle's glove compartment, according to court papers. Syringes, two spoons and six additional bags of heroin were found outside the car, which appeared to have been dropped out of a rear passenger window upon the officer's arrival. Another syringe was found inside Anoia's boot, police say.

Assisting at the scene were Northumberland County Sheriff Chad Reiner and police K-9 "Clark."

DUI, drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL - A borough woman is charged with driving under the influence and a borough man faces drug charges following their arrest in Atlas in February.

Patrolman David Stamets Jr., Mount Carmel Township Police, says Hope Elizabeth Lowry, 27, of 327 W. Fig St., Mount Carmel, was behind the wheel of a Dodge Dakota when she struck a parked vehicle in the 200 block of East Saylor Street about 8:20 p.m. Feb. 7.

She and the vehicle's owner, Jason Starkoski, 30, same address, were pulled over later that night in the 200 block of East Columbia Avenue. Police say Lowry admitted smoking a small amount of marijuana, and that she failed field sobriety testing.

Starkoski was allegedly found in possession of marijuana, a cellophane bag and four unidentified brown capsules, with additional marijuana reportedly found inside the vehicle. Police say he was noncompliant at the scene.

Lowry faces DUI, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, accidents with damage to unattended property and careless driving.

Starkoski is charged with permitting violation of vehicle title, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

Assisting Stamets were Mount Carmel Borough Patrolmen Matthew Dillman, Justin Stelma, Shane Reamer.

Loitering

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough Police Cpl. David Donkochik charged Levi L. Gray, 19, of 494 W. Saylor St., Atlas, and Justin M. Mackenzie, 19, of 344 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel, with several charges following an incident on Mount Carmel Area School District grounds at 1:21 a.m. May 22.

Police reported in court documents the two individual were found hiding inside a school bus from police, who detected a strong odor of alcohol on the two men's breath.

The two men were charged with loitering and prowling at night, criminal trespass and underage drinking. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and preliminary hearings for both men were scheduled for Wednesday, June 26.

Multiple charges

ATLAS - Mount Carmel Township Police charged two people with separate offenses after the investigation into a dog attack at their residence on April 22.

Patrolman David J. Stamets reported in court documents that police were called to 456 E. Columbia Ave., the home of Edward K. Davis, 34, and Kenyatta R. Williams-Davis, 29, after a report that a dog left the yard and pinned a girl on the ground. Upon arrival, the dog could not be found and a neighbor told police the dog was taken back into the Davis' home.

Stamets spoke with a woman at the residence and asked to speak with Edward Davis. The woman became hostile with police, demanding a reason for the request, police said. When told it was about a loose dog, the woman told officers she owned the dog, too, but did not provide ID.

When Davis came to the door, the woman continued to yell and police eventually arrested her for persistent disorderly conduct. When they tried to take her into custody, the woman, identified as Williams-Davis, got away from police and went into the home. Once taken into custody and placed in the police vehicle, she began to knock on the window between the bar cages to the point where her skin was wearing from her knuckle.

While police took her into custody, Cpl. David Donkochik observed a glass pipe with burnt residue inside of it that smelled of marijuana. Davis told police the pipe was his.

Stamets charged Davis with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia and cited him for confinement and housing of dogs not part of a kennel.

Williams-Davis was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Preliminary hearings for both individuals will be held Wednesday, June 26, before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Burned boxes

SHAMOKIN - City Police Chief Edward Griffiths reported two male juveniles, ages 9 and 10, were involved in starting a debris fire at 4:36 p.m. Tuesday that burned several cardboard boxes placed on carts on Cleaver Street outside the Dollar General Store. Griffiths said the Northumberland County district attorney's office has been contacted.

Simple assault

KULPMONT - Christine L. Jeffrey, 26, of 554 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, Kulpmont, was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, Michael J. McGinley, at 8:14 p.m. April 26. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Jennifer Yost, 40, of 217 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged with driving under the influence, giving unsworn falsification to authorities, providing false reports incriminating another person, accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property and reckless driving after she allegedly told police she was not driving a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident with a fire hydrant on Sixth and Chestnut streets in Mount Carmel April 8.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel and a preliminary hearing is scheduled of June 26.

False reports

ELYSBURG - David A. Rand, 32, of 1118 Scott St., Kulpmont, was charged with false identification to authorities, drivers required to be licensed and operating a vehicle without an official certificate of inspection following a traffic stop on South Market Street, Elysburg, at 11:20 a.m. April 10.

According to Ralpho Township Police, Rand gave police a false name when he was stopped for having an invalid inspection sticker. An investigation determined Rand was driving without a license. Police said Rand gave officers his brother's name instead of his own.

A preliminary hearing on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, is scheduled for June 26.

DUI

LOCUST GAP - Mount Carmel Township Police charged James E. Colahan, 38, of 105 Gordon St., Gordon, with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle without an inspection sticker, following a traffic stop at the Locust Summit intersection of Route 901 on April 28.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, Jan. 26.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police charged Brian J. Deeter, 28, of 241 S. Banana St., Mount Carmel, with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment after he allegedly ripped hair from the head of his girlfriend, Shawna Malloy, during a domestic dispute on May 24 at their residence.

A preliminary hearing on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10.

DUI, false reports

ATLAS - Mark Melnick, 25, of 45 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged with making false reports to law enforcement, tampering with physical evidence, driving under the influence of alcohol and a drug or a combination, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, driving on roadways laned for traffic and careless driving following a traffic stop on Route 61 near Cole's Hardware at 2:51 a.m. March 2.

Melnick submitted to chemical testing at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, which determined he had a BAC of .138 and Delta-9 THC in his system. Melnick was taken by police to the home of his father, Paul Melnick. Mark Melnick was told to contact the police department the following day to pick up his vehicle; however, he retrieved the vehicle at 5 a.m., called police and told them his father drove the vehicle home. Paul Melnick later admitted it was Mark who drove the vehicle home, police said.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and a preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, June 26 before Jones.

Motorcycle crash

SNYDERTOWN - A Sunbury man was transported for medical treatment following a motorcycle crash Wednesday morning on Snydertown Road.

State police at Stonington said a 2009 Harley-Davidson Nightster, operated by Jordan K. Shaffer, 25, of Sunbury, was traveling south on Snydertown Road, near Paul Road, when a small animal ran onto the roadway. The front wheel struck the animal, Shaffer lost control and the motorcycle rolled onto its side, police said.

Shaffer was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was treated and released.

Vehicle theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Kellsie T. Hoskie, 19, of 128 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police with criminal conspiracy to commit theft, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and loitering and prowling at night following the theft of a vehicle from West Fourth Street on May 22.

Police said Hoskie was one of three passengers in a vehicle allegedly taken by Jamie Giffin on that date.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for June 5 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Drug possession

ATLAS - Mount Carmel Township Police charged Travis J. Scherer, 24, of 441 Happy Valley Road, Elysburg, with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving without required financial responsibility, driving on roadways laned for traffic, driving without a license and careless driving following a traffic stop on Route 61 at 10:06 p.m. March 31.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, is set for Wednesday, June 26.

Criminal mischief

MOUNT CARMEL - Justin M. Schoppy, 20, of 333 W., Seventh St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police with loitering and prowling at night and criminal mischief after he allegedly threw a piece of concrete through the windshield of a vehicle owned by Mike Schminkey on May 14.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones is scheduled for Wednesday, June 26.

Copper theft

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Police charged Stephanie Ditzler, 28, of 303 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass after she allegedly took 268 pounds of copper from the Pactiv Foodservice plant in Mount Carmel Township May 4, selling it for scrap and receiving $455.

An investigation determined Ditzler, a former employee of the plant, removed a total of 1,971 pounds of copper between March 5 and May 4, selling it for $3,613.12.

Ditzler was arraigned on the charges Monday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, and was committed to Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing before Jones is set for Wednesday, June 12.

Dog found

COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township Police said a bull mastiff-type dog was found wandering around State Route 61 in the area of the Jones Hardware store Tuesday.

The owner can claim the dog by contacting the dog warden at 236-3452.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Gary Cook, 33, of Shamokin, will be cited by state police at Stonington for disorderly conduct for allegedly urinating outside the Family Care Center along Route 61 shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Cruelty to animals

FISHING CREEK TOWNSHIP - A couple who left their dogs behind after moving from Fishing Creek Township to Ocala, Fla., on Sunday have been charged by state police at Bloomsburg with three counts each of cruelty to animals, failing to have their dogs properly licensed and failing to have their dogs vaccinated against rabies.

Robert W. Thrash, 37, and his wife, Heather L. Thrash, 33, who previously rented a property at 177 Bendertown Road, are accused of abandoning a German Shepherd, a German Shepherd mixed breed and a Chihuahua mixed breed at their former home. Police said the dogs range in age from 5 years to 13 years.

After receiving permission from the property owner to enter the residence, police discovered there was no food in the house and that the only water available was in the toilet bowl.

Police said the dogs had defecated and urinated inside the residence and several household chemicals were stored in areas accessible to the dogs.

Police arranged for the dogs to be removed to a local shelter, where they are being cared for pending the outcome of the investigation.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are continuing their search today for a white male accused of stealing two HP all-in-one computers valued at $798 each from Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61 at 7 p.m. May 28.

Police said the thief is approximately 6 feet tall and has brown hair and a beard.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call Coal Township police at 644-0333.

Charges withdrawn

SHAMOKIN - Charges of burglary, criminal trespass and simple assault filed by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle against Martin Laubach, 29, of 5 N. Fir St., Coal Township, were withdrawn Tuesday when the alleged victim, Charles Maurer, told police he did not want to prosecute the defendant.

Laubach was charged with entering Maurer's residence at 54 S. Franklin St. at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 9 and assaulting Maurer, causing him to suffer facial and head injuries that required emergency room treatment at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

DUI charges

STONINGTON - Lori Ann Lenig, 53, of 1150 W. Fern St., Apt. 10, Coal Township, has been charged by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with an expired registration and careless driving relating to a May 12 traffic stop along Route 225 in Coal Township.

Police said Lenig had a blood-alcohol content of .137 percent.

Marijuana offense

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Darwin Tobias III has charged Kenneth Elliot Jr., 23, of 1222 W. Willow St., Coal Township, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a May 10 incident in the 800 block of North Shamokin Street.

Jocelyn Sherman, 21, of 1109 W. Arch St., Apt. B, Coal Township, was charged by Tobias with possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with the same incident.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Maria Craig, 57, of 828 N. Sixth St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Mark Costa with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving involving a May 7 vehicle/pedestrian accident at Water and Liberty streets.

According to a criminal complaint, Craig is accused of driving a vehicle that struck Robert Stancavage shortly after 11 p.m. Stancavage, who was walking in the street, was hit by the front bumper of Craig's vehicle from behind, causing him to fall onto the street.

A witness, who had been following Craig for several blocks, reported Craig had been swerving her vehicle prior to the accident and almost struck an unoccupied police car parked on the south side of the police station at Franklin and Shakespeare streets.

Police said Craig had a blood-alcohol content of .315 percent.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Shauna Houser, 20, of 328 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with simple assault and harassment relating to a disturbance at 8 p.m. Sunday at her residence.

Police reported Houser is accused of striking her sister, Carson Houser, in the face, causing injury.

Taser sold

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Raymond Siko II has charged Mark Allen Getz Jr., 19, of 145 S. Pearl St., Shamokin, with possessing and selling a taser/stun gun to another male for $10 at Cleaver and Independence streets at 9:45 p.m. May 30. Police said the gun is an offensive weapon.

Siko also charged Getz and Edward W. Yoder, 18, of 909 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a May 17 incident on Terrace Avenue.

Handgun for heroin

COAL TOWNSHIP - Detective Jeff Brennan has charged Jacob Snyder, 21, of 1532 Tioga St., Coal Township, with two firearms violations in which the defendant is accused of stealing a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun owned by his father, Jeffery Snyder, and giving it to a black male in Harrisburg in exchange for heroin.

Police said incidents occurred April 2.

Man charged again

SHAMOKIN - A 46-year-old city man - who was previously charged with attempting to punch and bite police officers and emergency medical personnel late Monday night after being taken into custody for causing a disturbance in the downtown district - has been arrested again for an incident outside his home early Monday.

Donald Wayne Jessie, of 512 Bear Valley Ave., is charged by Patrolman Shane Mowery with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness for allegedly screaming in the 500 block of Bear Valley Avenue at about 3 a.m.

Jessie was warned by police numerous times to stop acting disorderly and disturbing neighbors, but he continued his behavior, police said. According to police, Jessie yelled, "It's my God-given right to go outside and scream my lungs out, and I don't care who I disturb."

Mowery previously charged Jessie with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct involving disturbances at his home, in the 200 block of East Independence Street and Shamokin Police Station.

Burglary offenses

SHAMOKIN - A 25-year-old Shamokin woman has been charged with multiple burglary-related offenses for allegedly stealing $1,524 from a home on West Chestnut Street between March 1 and May 18.

Taylor Dettrey, of 20 N. Diamond St., is charged by Patrolman William Zalinski with committing the thefts at the home of Brenda Pomponio, of 120 W. Chestnut St.

Dettrey is charged with six counts each of burglary and theft by unlawful taking and one count of possessing Suboxone.

Domestic disturbance

ASHLAND - Daniel Landon, 37, of 1036 Walnut St., Ashland, was cited by Patrolman Mark O'Hearn for harassment for allegedly grabbing Ashley Landon by the hair at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday during a domestic disturbance.

Burglary

ASHLAND - John Magdeburg, 34, of 1319 Walnut St., Ashland, was charged by Patrolman Ted Buriak with burglary and criminal trespass in connection with a disturbance at the residence of Tom and Yvonne Manley, 1002 Walnut St., shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday.

Police reported Magdeburg banged on a window, pushed an air conditioner through a window and climbed through a window into the residence before Tom Manley came downstairs and removed him from the home. Magdeburg fled the scene, but was apprehended a short distance away by borough police.

Magdeburg told police he broke into the home because he needed to get guns to protect himself against people who were after him.

He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville after failing to post $15,000 bail.

Route 890 crash

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Dan Crissinger, 47, of 205 N. Ninth St., Sunbury, suffered injuries Saturday night when his 1990 Ford truck struck a guardrail along Route 890, traveled across the highway and hit an embankment before rolling over several times and coming to rest in the center of the road.

State police at Stonington reported Crissinger was transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville following the 8:14 p.m. accident. A hospital spokeswoman reported Crissinger was in fair condition Sunday night.

Harassment

KULPMONT - Devon R. Smith, 27, of Shamokin, and David J. Swatski, 69, of Kulpmont, were cited by state police at Stonington following an incident at 7:09 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Oak Street when the two were reportedly engaged in a verbal dispute which turned into a physical confrontation.

Police cited both men for harassment and disorderly conduct.

Simple assault

KULPMONT - Michael J. McGinley, 26, of 554 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Michael Pitcavage with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct relating to an April 26 disturbance at his apartment.

Police said McGinley is accused of grabbing his girlfriend, Christine Jeffrey, by the throat, slamming her into a wall and throwing her down the living room steps.

Police said Jeffrey complained of severe back pain and suffered red marks on her neck and chest. She underwent emergency room treatment at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital before being released.

Theft charges

KULPMONT - Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were filed by Patrolman Joshua Pastucka against Joseph Phillipine, 29, of 831 Chestnut St., Kulpmont.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Phillipine allegedly stole a 2012 Yamaha dirt bike owned by Nick Bozza, of 1121 Scott St., Kulpmont.

Police said the dirt bike was stolen from Bozza's shed between July 27 and July 29.
