Criminal mischief

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone smashed the windshield on a 2007 Caterpillar 262B skid loader owned by Matthew Herrold, 38, of 620 N. Front St., Sunbury, while the machinery was parked at a construction site near Hixson's Auto Body along Route 61.

Police said damage is estimated at $500.

Police reported the vandalism occurred between 5:30 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Janet M. Dowkus, 50, of 124 Nesterick Road, Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol relating to an Oct. 13 accident at 1605 Trevorton Road.

Police reported Dowkus had a blood-alcohol content of .303 percent.

Harboring charges

SHAMOKIN - Megan ReJean Holohan, 32, of 18 S. Market St., Apt. 1, Shamokin, has been charged by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III with harboring a wanted person and hindering apprehension or prosecution involving an incident that occurred at 5:35 p.m. Monday.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Holohan is accused of harboring a female wanted by Northumberland County probation/parole officers. Police said Holohan falsely informed probation/parole officers that she did not know the whereabouts of the wanted woman, who was later found hiding in an exit hallway at the rear of Holohan's apartment building on West Chestnut Street.

Multiple offenses

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Jarrod Scandle has charged Kenneth C. Kline, 45, of 1750 W. Gowen St., Shamokin, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under suspension, a registration violation, driving without insurance and careless driving.

The charges were filed in connection with an Oct. 5 traffic stop at Sixth and Spruce streets.

Police reported Kline had a blood-alcohol content of .383 percent and also had Delta-9 THC, Delta-9 Carboxy THC and Oxycodone-Free in his blood system.

Gambling citation

SUNBURY - The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sunbury Aerie 503, 33 S. Sixth St., on Nov. 1 for various violations over the past year.

According to police, the establishment permitted patrons to enter the portion of the premises habitually used for the service of alcohol between 3:30 and 7 a.m. when they did not possess an extended hours food permit, and the possession or operation of gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitted gambling or lotteries, pool-selling and/or bookmaking on the premises.

The case will be brought before an administrative law judge to impose the penalty.

Gun stolen

RUSH TOWNSHIP - A Berwick man was charged with theft from a motor vehicle following an incident on Rushtown Road at 7 p.m. Sunday.

State police at Stonington say Robert L. Crane, 38, of Berwick took a Ruger .22 Cal long-rifle automatic pistol from a 1996 Dodge Caravan owned by Christine A. Dissinger, 34, of Danville. After removing the gun, police say Crane placed the firearm underneath a tree in the back yard of the Bloomsburg Towers apartment complex, Bloomsburg, where it was readily accessible to the public.

Police took Crane into custody and he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, of Sunbury, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $15,000 cash bail.

Guard assaulted

COAL TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington continue to investigate an assault at 8:19 p.m. Sunday at the State Correctional Institute-Coal Township.

Police said a guard, Robert Houseknecht, 69, was assaulted by an inmate at the prison.

Truck theft

PAXINOS - State police at Stonington report someone stole a 1997 Dodge Dakota Club Cab pickup truck from the lot of Classy Chassis Auto Sales, Route 61, Paxinos. The theft occurred between 6:30 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday. The truck is green and silver and has four bald tires. It is valued at approximately $1,700.

DUI

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington charged Dennis J. Reiprish, 59, of Elysburg, with driving under the influence following a traffic stop at 6:48 p.m. Oct. 21 on Route 61 near Erlich's.

Disturbance

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Kyle Stevens, 32, and Barton Koser, 38, both of Herndon, were arrested by state police at Stonington following a disturbance at 11:05 p.m. at the Herndon Sunoco convenience store, at the intersection of Routes 147 and 225.

Police charged Stevens with disorderly conduct after yelling profane and obscene language inside the store, while Koser was charged with harassment after shutting a door on Stevens' arm.

Criminal mischief

LITTLE MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Ned Wetzel, of 124 Dornsife Mountain Road, Dornsife, reported to state police at Stonington that between 9 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday, someone threw eggs at his home, his 1999 Ford F-250 truck and his 2008 Ford Expedition. Wetzel said there was no physical damage done to the property.

Vehicles egged

TREVORTON - George "Butch" Stiely Jr., 57, of Route 225, reported to Zerbe Township Police that between 7 p.m. Saturday and Monday morning, someone threw several eggs at vehicles for sale on his car lot.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Zerbe Township Police at 797-4637.

Woman sought

ASHLAND - State troopers are seeking a 24-year-old borough woman who failed to return Monday to a halfway house where she was residing.

Heather Ann Pickering was transported to Corsicana Bedding at 6:30 a.m. for work but failed to return to Gaudenzia New Destiny halfway house in Butler Township.

She is 5 feet, 3 inches, weighs approximately 140 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at Frackville at 874-5300.

Burglary

LOCUST TOWNSHIP - Police are investigating a residential burglary that occurred between 6:50 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Monday at a residence on Mount Zion Road, near Villageside Drive, approximately one-half mile from Routes 487 and 42. Police say jewelry and coins were taken from the home.

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the department at 799-5806, or via email at J.Rider@LocustPD.com. Residents are reminded to keep their homes and vehicles locked and to call local police to report any suspicious activity that may occur at any time.

Checkpoints announced

SHAMOKIN - Coal Township Police along with the North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group announce roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints will be conducted between Thursday and Nov. 24 on Routes 61, 225, 125, 54, 487, 901 and 147 and other connecting roadways.

Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by calling 911. To report underage drinking call 1-888-UNDER-21.

Criminal trespass

THARPTOWN - Detective Jeff Brennan has charged Katherine Bixler, 27, of 721 Center St., Tharptown, with criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit burglary and criminal mischief relating to a break-in at the Kreco Electric building at 59 Center St. in Tharptown shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday.

Police reported Bixler removed metal siding and insulation, causing approximately $150 damage. She also is accused of attempting to break into a garage owned by Frederick Shingara at 39 Center St.

Bixler was apprehended by police a short time later hiding in brush near the scene of the crime.

Bixler was arraigned at 8 p.m. Saturday by on-call Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum of Sunbury and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $35,000 cash bail.

Two-vehicle accident

LOCUST TOWNSHIP - One person suffered a minor injury following an accident at the intersection Cemetery Hill Road and Numidia Drive at 10:11 a.m. Tuesday.

Township police reported that a 2009 Ford Fusion, driven by Jo A. Sudal, 62. of Knight Drive, Catawissa, was traveling on Cemetery Hill Road and stopped at an intersection with Numidia Drive. After stopping, Sudal failed to see a Ford F-150 truck, driven by Leonard Hursh, 44, of Coal Brook Road, Mount Joy, and pulled out in front of it. The truck driver hit the brakes and swerved to the right, but was unable to avoid the Fusion. Hursh's truck traveled off the right side of the roadway and into a large ditch, overturning onto its passenger side.

Hursh's passenger, Judith Hursh, 19, the driver's daughter, complained of a minor injury but refused transport to a hospital. Sudal was not injured and was able to drive her vehicle from the scene.

Waives hearing

SHAMOKIN - Reese Richard Elliott Jr., 22, of 1810 Maple Ave., Coal Township, waived to court Tuesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, careless driving and driving at an unsafe speed relating to an Aug. 1 incident at Vine and Race streets.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II.

Elliott was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to appear for plea court Dec. 31 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN DAM - Heather A. Frank, 27, of Mount Carmel, was charged with retail theft and drug possession by state police at Selinsgrove following an incident at K-Mart at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said Frank concealed $69.77 worth of merchandise in her purse and then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. A small amount of marijuana was allegedly found in Frank's back pocket during a search, police said.

Frank was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Mensch, of Mifflinburg, on a felony charge of retail theft and a misdemeanor count of possession of a small amount of marijuana. She was placed in Snyder County Prison on $10,000 bail.

Woman found

KULPMONT - Borough police apprehended a woman who fled a halfway house Monday in Schuylkill County.

Heather Pickering, 24, was taken into custody by Police Chief Rick Wilson at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday at 763 Spruce St.

Pickering failed to return to Gaudenzia New Destiny halfway house in Ashland Monday after work.

She was turned over to state police at Frackville, Wilson said.

Wilson was assisted by Patrolman Daniel Politza, Mount Carmel Township Police.

Lost wallet

COAL TOWNSHIP - Andrea Grimmer, 25, of Tioga Street, reported to police that she lost a brown, medium-size Coach wallet, containing various cards. Anyone finding a wallet is asked to turn it into the Coal Township police.

Theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police report that sometime between Nov. 5 and 15, a battery was stolen from a dump trailer at 711 Fifth St. Authorities are investigating the theft and watching the area for suspicious activity.

Forged prescription

SHAMOKIN - Patricia Zimmerman, 21, of 129 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with criminal attempt to commit forgery relating to an Oct. 15 incident at CVS Pharmacy on Independence Street.

According to a criminal complaint, Zimmerman is accused of submitting a forged or altered prescription to the pharmacy to be filled. Police said the prescription was forged to add Oxycodone, which was not authorized by a doctor.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell has charged Denitsa Chavez, 21, and Ashley N. Delgado, 19, both of 8 N. Seventh St., Shamokin, with retail theft.

Police said Chavez and Delgado allegedly stole baby food, diapers, DVD movies and clothing totaling $256.84 from Wal-Mart Supercenter along Route 61 on Nov. 1.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Dal Tyson Elliott, 33, of 1102 E. Webster St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Terry Ketchem Jr. with retail theft for allegedly stealing $514.65 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart Supercenter on Route 61 on Oct. 2.

Driver charged

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police say the driver in a pedestrian accident Saturday in the Springfield section of the township had no license, no registration and no insurance.

Lindsey T. Hill, of 117 W. Walnut St., is charged by Deputy Police Chief Chris Williams with driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, registration and certificate of title required and required financial responsibility.

Hill was driving a 1995 Nissan east on Tioga Street at 11:37 a.m. when a 9-year-old boy ran into the street, near Sheridan Street, and was struck by the car.

The boy suffered a concussion and facial injuries. He was taken by AREA Services to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where he was treated and released, police said.

ATV rolls

COAL TOWNSHIP - A man was believed not to have suffered serious injury after a mishap with a four-wheeler outside a Pulaski Avenue home Sunday.

The man was said to have backed an all-terrain vehicle down a steep embankment outside of 1206 Pulaski Ave. when it rolled on top of him about 1:50 p.m.

He was observed shortly afterward conscious and standing near a emergency vehicle while speaking with township police officers and paramedics.

Witnesses who were with the man at the time of the accident said he was OK.

No further information was available.

Attempted robbery

MILTON - A would-be robber made off with nothing after being spooked by a panic alarm Saturday afternoon at a Sunoco convenience station.

Trooper Garrett R. Marvich, state police at Milton, said the suspect entered the store at 884 Broadway Street (Route 254) between 2:10 and 2:20 p.m. and demanded all the money in the store's register.

When the store clerk activated the panic alarm, the suspect fled towards Milton.

The suspect did not show any weapons, and no money or property was stolen.

Marvich described the suspect as a white male between 20 and 25 years old, 5-feet 6-inches, 150 pounds, brown eyes, dark brown hair and short facial hair. He was wearing a dark gray hooded sweat shirt, light gray sweat pants and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 524-2662.

Robbery arrest

SELINSGROVE - A Harrisburg man was taken into custody Friday in connection to three robberies including at the Swineford National Bank in Beaver Springs on Nov. 5.

Richard Lloyd Lockett, 38, also is accused in robberies in Port Royal and Thompsontown. He was taken into custody by state police at Lewistown.

He is being held at Mifflin County Prison on a probation violation, and is expected to be formally charged today.

Illegals detained

SELINSGROVE - Five illegal immigrants were detained at a drunk driving checkpoint Friday in Snyder County.

State police at Selinsgrove said the illegal immigrants are from El Salvador and Honduras, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement is handling the investigation.

The DUI checkpoint also yielded five DUI arrests, four drivers license violations and 18 other traffic violations.

2 car crash

CHILLISQUAQUE - No injuries were reported in a rear-end crash Sunday in this village of West Chillisquaque Township.

State police at Milton said Helen M. Boyer, 85, of Northumberland, was stopped in the northbound lane of Route 147 to turn left onto Route 405 shortly after 11 a.m. when her 2012 Nissan Sentra was rear-ended by a 1998 Ford Escort driven by Marcella D. Colyer, 43, of Hughesville.

Troopers said both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Colyer's vehicle was towed, and she was charged with careless driving.

Boyer's vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.

Scam alert

ATLAS - Mount Carmel Township Police are warning area residents of a potential telephone scam.

Police Chief Brian Hollenbush said a telephone call is being placed from the number (206)855-3323 and the caller claims to be calling from the "grants department" in Washington, D.C.

The caller says the call recipient has won a $7,000 grant and must send $315 to the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, Hollenbush said.

A township resident who received such a call said the caller hung up when asked if the call was a scam, Hollenbush said.

Hollenbush urges all area residents to not give personal or financial information over the phone. Anyone who receives a call they believe is a scam is urged to contact the police.

Underage drinking

COAL TOWNSHIP - Two men were cited for underage drinking relating to an incident at 7:50 p.m. Nov. 16, according to Coal Township Police.

Police said Glen Shurock, 20, of 789 Trevorton Road, Coal Township, and Josh Shurock, 18, of 1778 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township, were cited following a vehicle stop in the area of the third patch of Bear Valley Road.

Dogs at large

COAL TOWNSHIP - Cindy Santore, 44, of 217 Third St., Coal Township, and Felisha Albertson, 20, of 205 Third St., Coal Township, were both cited under a Coal Township ordinance for allowing their Rottweiler dogs to run at large at 7 a.m. Nov. 7 in the area of Second and Webster streets.

Man attacks cop

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - A Kulpmont man faces charges after resisting arrest and attacking a police officer along Gap Road on Oct. 11.

According to court documents filed by Trooper Samuel Edwards of the Pennsylvania State Police, Stonington Barracks, he was dispatched to Gap Road at 2:30 a.m. for a person resisting arrest. Upon arrival, Edwards spoke to Butler Township Police Patrolman Shawn Butler, who said he encountered the individual, Eric J. Janoka, 32, of 1328 Scott St., Kulpmont, sitting on the guardrail naked. When Butler approached Janoka, the Kulpmont man allegedly pounced on the officer and a struggle ensued.

After being taken into custody, Janoka began apologizing and told officers he was under the influence of a bath salt and meth mixture and was hiding a bag of heroin in his rectum, according to police.

Edwards took custody of the suspect after a search showed that he was wanted on a warrant from the Northumberland County Sheriff's Office. Janoka was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, where a medical exam was conducted, but no substances were found on his person.

Janoka was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and open lewdness and was cited for harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, Dec. 12, before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Harassment

MONROE TOWNSHIP - A Trevorton man is accused of pushing a woman to the ground at 2:44 p.m. Nov. 18 in the parking lot of Monroe Marketplace, according to state police at Selinsgrove.

Trooper Matthew Brown said Keith Reader, 33, was involved in an argument with a 24-year-old Sunbury woman in the parking lot of Giant Food, and allegedly pushed her with enough force to knock her over.

The woman was not identified in the police report.

Moderate injury

SHAMOKIN DAM - A Coal Township driver experienced moderate injuries Nov. 17 when he lost control of the car he was driving and struck two parked vehicles on Route 1023, according to state police at Selinsgrove.

Trooper Matthew Brown said Brian A. Leshinskie, 31, was driving a 2012 Ford Fiesta south on North Old Trail, near Arbogast Avenue, when he traveled into oncoming traffic, ran off the roadway and struck a 2009 Ford F-150 and 2003 Jeep Wrangler.

Leshinski, who was wearing his seatbelt, was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Hummels Wharf EMS, police said.

He was charged with a traffic violation, police reported.

2-vehicle crash

MONROE TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:15 p.m. Monday along Old Trail Road in Monroe Township, Snyder County.

State police at Selinsgrove report a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by Vickie A. Hayter, 73, of Northumberland, was pulling out from a stop sign on Mill Road turning north onto Old Trail Road. Police allege Hayter failed to yield the right of way to a 2008 Nissan Rogue driven by Jeffrey A. Heintzelman, 51, of Sunbury, which was traveling south on Old Trail Road. Heintzelman tried to stop his vehicle to avoid the crash, but struck the left rear quarter panel of the Suburban with its front left quarter panel.

No one was injured, but the Rogue had to be towed from the scene. Police reported Hayter was cited for the accident.

Liquor violation

SUNBURY - The Rescue Hose Company No. 1, 800 Edison Ave., was cited by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for sales to non-members. Police say the sales occurred at various times within the past year.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Gerald Saint Clair Whitnum, 47, of 341 S. Seventh St., Shamokin, has been charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and a brake light violation relating to an Oct. 20 incident on South Diamond Street near West Mulberry Street.

Police said Whitnum had a blood-alcohol content of .284 percent.

DUI

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and charges of failure to drive in a single lane and careless driving were filed by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington against Ambrose J. Leshock, 70, of Route 61, Paxinos.

Police reported Leshock had a blood-alcohol content of .172 percent.

The charges relate to an Oct. 29 incident along Route 61 near Stahl's Produce.

DUI

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - Kayla Elizabeth Bulchie, 21, of 241 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

The charges relate to a Nov. 11 incident on Route 225 in Zerbe Township near the Coal Township line.

Police said Bulchie had a blood-alcohol content of .218 percent.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Zachary Block, 19, of 318 N. Rock St., Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Nov. 15 incident at his residence.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Nathan Rhodes has charged Karin M. Sharpe, 34, of 148 Steeler Lane, Shamokin, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving involving an Oct. 27 incident at Spruce and Market streets.

Police said Sharpe had a blood-alcohol content of .227 percent.

Theft attempt

PAXINOS - State police at Stonington are investigating what is believed to be an attempted theft from a business's storage yard Monday.

Troopers say two men were confronted and detained by the owner of LTS Plumbing and Heating Inc., Route 61, about 11:30 a.m. after attempting to load a scrap Lennox air conditioning unit into their vehicle.

The unit is valued at approximately $150, troopers say.

No further information was provided, and an investigation continues.

Crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning on Route 225, according to Coal Township Police.

Deputy Chief C. Williams said Christa Komara, of 1783 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was traveling north on Route 225, approximately two miles south of Shamokin, in her 2006 Ford Escape and attempted to make a left turn into Annabelle's Restaurant parking lot.

At the same time, Edward Katalina, of 758 Trevorton Road, Coal Township, who was traveling south on Route 225 in his 2001 Saturn, could not stop in time and collided with her vehicle, police said.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage, and Komara was cited with a traffic violation, police said.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jamie Kemper, 22; Brent Tomcavage, 33, and Christopher Pielacha, 26, all of 44 S. Fourth St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky for scattering rubbish for allegedly placing several bags of household trash in a wooded area behind Coal Run between Sept. 21 and Nov. 3.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patricia Zimmerman, 21, of 129 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, and Renee Holmes, 23, of 239 W. Walnut St., Shamokin, were charged by Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky with retail theft involving an incident at 2:30 a.m. Sept. 10 at Wal-Mart Supercenter on Route 61.

Police reported Zimmerman is accused of taking a PC laptop computer valued at $278 to Holmes, who was a cashier at the store at the time. Holmes allegedly voided the transaction before Zimmerman left the store with the computer.

Liquor law violations

MOUNT CARMEL - The Sons of Poland Beneficial Society, 21 N. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was cited Nov. 21 by the Pennsylvania Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for allowing patrons to possess and/or remove liquor or alcohol from the premises after 2:30 a.m. and failing to require patrons to leave the establishment within a half hour of closing.

Police said the charges relate to a Sept. 30 incident.

Twins cited

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Elizabeth Chapman, 60, of 1552 W. Nelson St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman William Zalinski for retail theft for allegedly stealing $43.72 in merchandise from the Dollar General store, 30 E. Independence St., on Nov. 11.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - John Wilcox, 68, of 9 N. Marshall St., Shamokin, and Ryan Wagner, 34, of 325 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, were cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for disorderly conduct and harassment relating to a fight at 2:43 a.m. Nov. 14 at Turkey Hill Minit Market, 140 W. Lincoln St.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Kevin Eric Eltringham, 29, of 32 N. Anthracite St., Shamokin, was arraigned at 10:15 a.m. Thursday by on-call Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on charges of simple assault, harassment, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and loitering and prowling at night.

The charges were filed by Patrolman Jarrod Scandle in connection with a disturbance that began at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

According to a criminal complaint, Eltringham is accused of shoving Kinda Yost out of a door at 32 N. Anthracite St., causing her to fall onto a sidewalk and hit her head. Police said Yost suffered excessive bleeding from the back of her head that required her to be transported by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Eltringham also allegedly shoved Angel Sock to the ground inside 32 N. Anthracite St. and was observed running through several yards in the neighborhood before being apprehended by police in a yard in the first block of North Eighth Street.

Eltringham was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.

Recklessly endangering

SHAMOKIN - Timothy A. Raab, 24, of 112 Short St., Ranshaw, has been charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment relating to a disturbance at 129 S. Franklin St. Thanksgiving afternoon.

Police reported Raab went to the South Franklin Street home at about 12:30 p.m. in an attempt to remove his 1-year-old daughter, who was in the care of her grandmother, Catherine Barrett, 79, of 129 S. Franklin St. Barrett told police Raab pushed her in an attempt to enter the home. Barrett told police she picked up the child and ran outside.

Police said Barrett then attempted to get into her car, but Raab allegedly chased her, pushed her against the vehicle while she was holding the child, grabbed the infant around her chest and pulled her from Barrett's arms.

Police said Raab allegedly shoved Barrett to the ground, causing her to fall onto her right side and suffer injuries to her right leg and right arm.

Raab then fled the scene with the child before being apprehended by Coal Township police about 30 minutes later at his residence.

He was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $7,500 cash bail.

Burglary

RUSH TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington continue to investigate a burglary over the weekend at the Twin Ponds Engine Service, Elysburg Road.

Police said someone entered the business between 3 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Monday by breaking a window and removed numerous items from the building.

Money stolen

LEWISBURG - State police at Milton reported someone stole $80 from a purse owned by Susan Eppenbach, 56, of New Columbia, from the victim's office at Evangelical Community Hospital shortly before 10:30 a.m. Friday.

SUV catches fire

DERRY TOWNSHIP - Two Danville men escaped serious injury Friday afternoon when a sport utility vehicle in which they were riding traveled off Fossil Run Road, rolled onto its driver's side and caught fire in this Montour County township.

State police at Milton said Ryan N. Ferguson, 27, was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer west at 2:44 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a left curve and struck an open culvert. The vehicle rolled onto its driver's side and caught fire.

Ferguson, who was not wearing a seat belt, escaped injury. He was cited for failure to drive in a single lane.

Ferguson's passenger, Shane A. Mordan, 35, who also was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.

Crash

MILTON - A New Jersey man suffered what state troopers described as a minor injury in a crash on Interstate 80 Monday afternoon in Turbot Township.

Freddy Jimenez, 19, of Passaic, N.J., was driving a 2001 Honda Civic east about 3:40 p.m. when he lost control while rounding a curve, causing the vehicle to spin out and strike an embankment before rolling several times before coming to rest on its roof.

Jimenez was treated at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, state police at Milton said.

Child seat inspection

STONINGTON - Pennsylvania State Police troopers from the Stonington Barracks will be conducting inspections and installations of child car seats from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the barracks, 2465 Route 61.

A certified child passenger technician will also be available for questions and concerns. Interested persons should bring their seat, owner's manual and the vehicle the seat will be installed in.

Driver escapes injury in crash

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Tricia R. Beachel, 24, of Shamokin, escaped injury Tuesday morning in a one-car crash along Route 61 near Carroll Road in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington reported Beachel was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier north on Route 61 at 7:51 a.m. when she lost control of her car on the slippery highway, causing the auto to exit the road, hit a ditch and roll over before coming to rest.

Police said Beachel, who was wearing a seat belt, was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Shane J. Geary, 28, of 129 Oak Lane, Shady Acres, was charged by Patrolman Kevin Katch with driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving relating to a Sept. 19 accident in the 100 block of West Sixth Street.

Police said Geary refused to submit to a blood test.

DUI offenses

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Richard A. Gallinot, 59, of Box 258, Elysburg RR 1, was charged by Patrolman Christopher Grow with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and driving an unregistered vehicle.

The charges relate to a Sept. 7 accident at 27 S. Hickory St., Elysburg.

Police reported Gallinot had a blood-alcohol content of .194 percent.

DUI charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Anthony R. Snyder, 27, of 420 E. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Shane Reamer with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

The charges relate to an Oct. 13 traffic stop in the first block of North Oak Street.

Snyder had a blood-alcohol content of .142 percent, police said.

Driving under suspension

KULPMONT - Michael F. Dallazia, 58, of 560 E. Melrose St., Marion Heights, has been charged by Police Chief Richard Wilson III with driving under suspension while being a habitual offender, driving under suspension, driving an unregistered vehicle, unauthorized use or transfer of registration, driving without insurance, operating a vehicle without proper inspection, violations concerning licenses exhibit suspended, a seat belt violation and driving without a license.

The charges were filed in connection with a Nov. 17 incident in the 700 block of Ash Street.

Stalking

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Derek C. Kranzel, 22, of 320 N. Oak St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with two counts of stalking and one count of harassment involving a Nov. 3 disturbance at 1201 Wood St. near Kulpmont.

Police said Kranzel is accused of sending threatening and harassing messages to Kelsey Resendes.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of theft, receiving stolen property and possession of a controlled substance were filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch against Brenda Lee Spicer, 46, of 557 W. Girard St., Atlas.

Spicer is accused of stealing a prescription for a pain killer from Mary A. Smith, of 250 S. Poplar St., Apt. 7, Mount Carmel, on Sept. 22.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Frederick T. Holmes, 44, of 433 W. Third St., was charged with simple assault and harassment following an incident at his residence on Nov. 2.

Borough Police Patrolman David Donkochik reported in court documents that Holmes allegedly struck his girlfriend, Britteny O'Brien, during an argument at their shared residence, causing an injury to O'Brien's lip.

He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Gun stolen

SUNBURY - The Sunbury Police Department is investigating the theft of a rifle from a pick-up truck parked on South Third Street Wednesday night.

The .30-06 caliber rifle is made in England by Alpine; its serial number is P005500. It has a light brown wood stock, police said.

One injured

EXCELSIOR - One person suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 4:08 a.m. Friday along Route 901.

Coal Township Police reported a 2000 Saturn, driven by Roseann Shannon, 34, of 302 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel and owned by Rose Shannon, of the same address, was traveling west on Route 901 when the Saturn left the roadway and traveled for a considerable distance before colliding with a guard rail.

After walking to the home of a nearby resident, Shannon was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment. The Saturn was towed from the scene.

Route 901 was closed to traffic for approximately one hour.

Police were assisted at the scene by Shamokin and Mount Carmel Township Police, and personnel from the Coal Township Fire Department, including fire chiefs Russell Feese and Michael Timco. The investigation is continuing.

Man charged after accident

ELYSBURG - A Mount Carmel man faces charges following an Oct. 16 accident at the intersection of Reading Turnpike Road and Mountain Road.

Ralpho Township Police Sgt. Chris Kreisher charged Chad Howard, 31, of 338 S. Pear St., Mount Carmel, with a misdemeanor offense of accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property and summary offenses of operating a vehicle without financial responsibility, failure to use the required position and method of turning, failure to give information or render aid and failure to operate a vehicle with appropriate tire equipment and traction surfaces.

According to court documents, Howard allegedly left the scene of an accident, which also involved Vincent Lushinski, no address given. Police said the two agreed to exchange insurance information after the accident, but Howard left the scene instead. Lushinski followed Howard to Shamokin, where both vehicles were stopped by Shamokin City Police, according to police.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 19.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Joseph Witkowski, 25, of 8658 Route 61, Coal Township, was cited for retail theft by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Jarrod Scandle after allegedly stealing four packs of cigarettes, valued at $24.85, from the Turkey Hill Minit-Market, Second Street, Shamokin, at 10:36 p.m. Oct. 13.

Driver cited

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - A Herndon woman was cited for careless driving following a one-vehicle crash at 12:19 p.m. Monday on Church Street in Washington Township, Dauphin County.

State police at Lykens report a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Taylor L. Shingara, 18, of Herndon, was traveling south on North Church Street when it left the road, traveled through a field and struck a utility pole.

Shingara suffered a minor injury and was transported to Harrisburg Hospital by Medic 6 ambulance for treatment. Police cited her for careless driving.

Assisting police at the scene were members of the Elizabethville Fire Department.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - A 14-year-old Shamokin male was cited for retail theft by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Jarrod Scandle after the teen allegedly stole two packs of cigarettes, valued at $9.80, from the Turkey Hill Minit-Market on Lincoln Street, Shamokin, at 11:15 p.m. on July 24.

Two hurt

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Two drivers suffered minor injuries in a chain-reaction crash at 3:43 p.m. Thursday on Route 487 near Route 61.

State police at Stonington said a 2001 Ford Explorer, driven by Nichole N. Colyer, 32, of Shamokin, was following a 2011 GMC Sierra, driven by Roy A. Hurley, 42, of Paxinos, while both were traveling south on Route 487. The Sierra stopped behind other vehicles stopped at the intersection with Route 61. Police said Coyler failed to see the stopped Sierra and struck the back of the vehicle.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment. Police cited Colyer for the crash.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Andre A. Stone, 30, of 612 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, was cited for public drunkenness by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Jarrod Scandle after Stone was allegedly found passed out on a sidewalk at Fifth and Water streets, Shamokin, by ambulance personnel at 7 a.m. Nov. 25.

Driver cited

KULPMONT - Michael J. Domaleski, 21, of Locust Gap, was cited by Trooper Mark Adams of state police at Stonington for careless driving relating to a three-vehicle accident early Sunday morning on Route 61 (Chestnut Street).

Police reported Domaleski was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion south on Route 61 at 3:30 a.m. when he fell asleep, causing his car to strike a parked 2006 Chrysler Town & Country van and a parked 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee along the northbound lane.

No injuries were reported.

Domaleski's car and the van were towed from the scene.

Multiple charges

WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP - Theodore Bartlett Doremus, 18, of Jericho Center, Vt., and a student at Bucknell University, will be charged by state police at Milton with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, underage drinking, public drunkenness and loitering and prowling at night relating to a disturbance Sunday morning at the residence of Timothy Witter, of 45 Old Route 45, Milton.

Police said Wittmer awoke at 8 a.m. and found Doremus passed out on his sofa while noticing his back door window had been broken by a vacuum cleaner that was on his back porch. Witter said he immediately called state police about the intrusion.

When state police arrived at the home, they found Witter holding a loaded shotgun while standing over Doremus, who was still passed out.

When police awoke Doremus, who was intoxicated, he didn't know where he was or how he got there. Doremus told police he was a first-semester freshman at Bucknell University and did not remember leaving a house party earlier in the morning. He also didn't recall how he lost his shoes and socks.

Doremus was released to Bucknell University officials.

Woman hurt

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - A Sunbury woman suffered serious injuries when a vehicle she was driving hit an embankment Sunday evening.

According to Trooper Daniel Wilk, state police at Stonington, Helen F. Sharp, 76, was driving a 2000 Ford Taurus east on Mile Post Road shortly before 7 p.m. While negotiating a right hand curve near Spruce Hollow Road, she lost control of the vehicle and drove head-on into an embankment, Wilk said.

Sharp was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for an injury to her back, Wilk said. A hospital spokesman said Monday morning she was listed in serious condition.

She was wearing a seat belt.

Sharp will be cited, the trooper said.

Underage drinking

MOUNT CARMEL - Raymond F. Wywadis III, 20 of 106 N. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was cited by borough police Officer Jason Drumheller for underage drinking following an incident in the 500 block of West Third Street at 2:49 a.m. Nov. 17.

Police were conducting a follow-up investigation on an unrelated call when they observed three males on the sidewalk in the 500 block of West Third Street. At that time, police spoke to Wywadis, who allegedly possessed a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and displayed other signs of intoxication.

The citation was filed through Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Criminal mischief

KELLY TOWNSHIP - Rey Delgado-Rios, 22, of Milton, has been cited by state police at Milton for criminal mischief for allegedly using a hammer to strike the windshield and front driver's side window on a 1998 Ford Windstar owned by Miguel Pagan, 66, of Sunbury, causing approximately $400 damage.

Police said the vandalism occurred at 6:20 p.m. Monday in the parking lot at Walmart on AJK Boulevard in this Union County township.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police Officer Jason Drumheller cited Amber N. Eisenhard, 19, of Shamokin, for harassment after allegedly harassing another individual via cell phone calls and text messages at 2:20 p.m. Oct. 19, despite being warned by police to cease contact. The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL - Two male juveniles, a 14-year-old from Mount Carmel and a 16-year-old from Lykens, were cited for retail theft following an incident at 3:23 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Dollar General Store on South Market Street.

Borough police Officer Matt Dillman cited the two after the 14-year-old stole a pair of gloves, valued at $3.18, and then later gave them to the 16-year-old outside the store.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Colette Harris, 51, of 315 Main St., Aristes, was cited by borough police Officer Shane Reamer with harassment and disorderly conduct after allegedly shouting obscene language and making lewd comments toward Jennifer Dalpiaz, of Mount Carmel, while Dalpiaz walked on the 100 block of South Oak Street at 6:20 p.m. Oct. 31.

Ordinance violation

MOUNT CARMEL - Thomas F. Escro, 29, of 908 Eynon St., Scranton, was cited by Borough Police Officer Jason Drumheller for selling various meats door-to-door without a borough permit at approximately 5:02 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.
