Theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - Andrew Brown, 29, of Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga for two counts of retail theft. Brown is accused of making a fraudulent return of stolen merchandise totaling $74.16 April 23. Police said he attempted a similar return of $95.35 in merchandise March 25, but was denied. An alleged accomplice, Nicole Ramph, 24, of Kulpmont, is accused of returning that same merchandise later that day. She is cited for criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft.
Knife at school
MOUNT CARMEL - A 14-year-old Coal Township male was charged by Lt. Christopher Buhay with possessing a weapon on school property and disorderly conduct. The boy is accused of possessing a folding knife at Compass Academy, 30 W. Third St., at 12:10 p.m. May 18.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - Jeffery Cooney, 21, of 920 Spruce St., Ashland, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of enough drugs to be incapable of driving and careless driving following an investigation into an April 22 accident in the 500 block of East Sunbury Street. Blood testing showed that Cooney was allegedly under the influence of marijuana and morphine at the time of the crash, police said.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Drug pipe
MOUNT CARMEL - A 15-year-old Mount Carmel male was charged by Chief Todd Owens with possession of drug paraphernalia. The boy is accused of possessing a smoking pipe with unidentified narcotic residue at 2:10 a.m. May 16 in the 500 block of West Fig Street.
Harassment
COAL TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old female student of Shamokin Area High School was charged by Patrolman Chad Yoder with harassment and disorderly conduct. The student is accused of punching another female student in the face May 21.
Trash citation
MOUNT CARMEL - Vanessa A. Steigerwalt, 26, of 412 N. Chestnut St., is accused of dumping household waste into someone else's Dumpster at 6:30 p.m. May 1. She was cited by Patrolman Jason Drumheller with scattering rubbish.
DUI
COAL TOWNSHIP - Police charged Gary M. Sabo, of 205 Third St., Coal Township, with three counts of driving under the influence following an investigation into a DUI checkpoint traffic stop Sept. 19, 2013, on Route 61, Coal Township.
Sabo was stopped by officers and allegedly failed field sobiety tests at the scene. Chemical testing showed that his blood alcohol level at the time was .091, above the legal limit.
Charges were filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin.
Bathroom hideout
MOUNT CARMEL - Nico A. Tovey, 23, of 25 S. Gold St., Shamokin, is accused of causing a disturbance at Turkey Hill Minit Market, Fifth and Market streets. Police said Tovey was intoxicated when he jumped into a stranger's vehicle and asked for a ride. He was refused and then exited the vehicle and entered the store. He was found hiding in the store bathroom about 4 a.m. May 3. He was cited by Patrolman William Adamski with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
DUI, drugs
SHAMOKIN - Matthew D. Beegle, 32, of 16 N. Park St., Richland, was charge with drug and DUI charges following an April 30 traffic stop on Route 61, near McDonald's.
Shamokin City Police Patrolman Raymond Siko II was conducting a routine speed enforcement check when Beegle was clocked driving over the legal limit. After Beegle was stopped, the officer noticed a odor of burnt marijuana and several cases of beer in the vehicle.
When the officer searched Beegle prior to performing field sobriety tests, he found a metal smoking pipe with marijuana residue in it, and a zip-lock bag containing marijuana. The driver later failed the tests and was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for chemical blood testing. The lab work came back with Beegle testing positive for marijuana in his system at the time of the test.
Beegle was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with enough drugs in his system to make him incapable of driving, and driving at a maximum speed limit. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Drinking citation
MOUNT CARMEL - Thomas J. Boylan, 20, of 827 Scott St., Kulpmont, was cited by Cpl. David Donkochik with underage drinking related to an incident at 6:45 p.m. May 5 in the 200 block of West Second St.
Neighbor dispute
SHAMOKIN - David Sheesley, 63, of 326 S. Market St., was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for harassment. Sheesley is accused of threatening a neighbor and striking her during an incident about 7:50 a.m. May 22.
Drinks stolen
SHAMOKIN - William Vantrieste, 19, no known address, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver with retail theft for allegedly stealing a pair of energy drinks from Dollar General. The drinks were valued at a combined $4.77.
Screams
MOUNT CARMEL - A pair of 14-year-old Mount Carmel girls who allegedly refused demands to stop screaming were cited by Cpl. David Donkochik with disorderly conduct. The incident occurred about 9 p.m. May 9 in the 100 block of West Fourth Street.

MOUNT CARMEL - Cathy M. Alexander, 35, of 439 E. Seventh St., was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay with disorderly conduct. Police said she threw items from her home onto the sidewalk and attempted to set clothing on fire about 11:45 p.m. May 9.

MOUNT CARMEL - Kevin J. Stouffer, 26, of 244 S. Oak St., was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay with disorderly conduct for allegedly yelling from his second floor porch about 12:45 a.m. May 10.

MOUNT CARMEL - David P. Bucher, 47, of 244 E. Avenue, was cited by Lt. Christopher Buhay for disorderly conduct for allegedly screaming and claiming to be armed with a pistol during a disturbance in the first block of North Chestnut Street about 11:15 a.m. May 15.
Underage drinking
SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Shane Mowery cited Patrick Pitts Jr., 18, of 338 S. Pear St., Mount Carmel, with underage drinking for an incident about 12:01 a.m. May 23 at the Shamokin police station, 511 N. Franklin St.

MOUNT CARMEL - Nicholas A. Fobia, 60, of 318 S. Maple St., was cited by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with disorderly conduct after he was allegedly found urinating on a wall inside the Dollar General, Sixth and Market streets, about 7:30 p.m. May 21.
