Drunk driving
COAL TOWNSHIP - Two motorists were charged last month with two counts each of driving under the influence stemming from a field sobriety checkpoint along Route 61 Sept. 20.
Kimberly Finlan, 41, of 708 W. Coal St., Trevorton, was driving a 2006 Jeep when she was stopped about 2:50 a.m. Donald E. Kistler, 55, of 1546 Tioga St., Coal Township, was driving a 2011 Ford truck when he was stopped about 12:30 a.m.
Police said both failed field sobriety testing. Finlan had a 0.151 percent blood alcohol content, while Kistler's was 0.134 percent, according to criminal complaints.
Charges were filed Feb. 19 by Coal Township Patrolman Terry Ketchem and Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Keith Tamborelli.
Drug charge
SHAMOKIN - Donna M. Shaffer, 37, of 46 Adams St., is charged by Patrolman Ray Siko II with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said she illegally possessed six oxycodone pills, a plastic straw and an Access card, both containing white residue, found inside a kitchen cabinet at her home about 4:15 p.m. Jan. 28. Police were dispatched to the scene during a probation check of neighboring 44 Adams St.
Crash charges
SHAMOKIN - John Traas, 22, of 514 S. Diamond St., is charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with three counts of driving under the influence, and one summary count each of careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended property and drivers required to be licensed. Police said he had a blood alcohol content of 0.207 percent and tested positive for marijuana following a crash about 10:40 p.m. Dec. 28 near Market and Spruce streets. Traas had crashed a sedan into a utility pole before driving off and was found at a nearby bar, police said.
