SUNBURY - Nine defendants, including six charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, were sentenced Monday in Northumberland County Court.
- Lisa Velazquez, 28, of Levittown, formerly of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Judge Charles Saylor for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia to six months of intermediate punishment and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus costs. She also had her driver's license suspended for one year and must continue to undergo counseling and drug rehabilitation. Velazquez is prohibited from attending bars and drinking alcohol.
She was charged by Shamokin police in connection with a Jan. 27, 2013, incident.
- Darlene Scandle, 41, of Coal Township, was ordered by Saylor to pay a $150 fine plus costs after pleading guilty to a summary offense of harassment. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.
Scandle was charged by Coal Township police with punching Angela Sickora in the face and grabbing both her arms, causing injury, while the victim was running in the 1200 block of Burnside Street Sept. 12.
Scandle previously paid $100 restitution in the case.
- Scott Wright Jr., 32, of Rebuck, was sentenced by President Judge William H. Wiest for driving under the influence of a controlled substance to one year of intermediate punishment, with the first six months on house arrest. The defendant also was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine plus costs and had his license suspended for one year.
Wright was charged by Shamokin police relating to a May 17 incident.
- Veronica Strohecker, 21, of Coal Township, was sentenced by Wiest for driving under the influence of alcohol to two days in Snyder County Prison, beginning March 2. She also was fined $500 plus costs and will have her driver's license suspended for 12 months. She is prohibited from drinking alcohol and attending bars.
Strohecker was charged by Coal Township police in connection with a Nov. 22, 2012, incident.
- Stacy Mantz, 38, of Kulpmont, was sentenced by Wiest for driving under the influence of alcohol to six months probation and ordered to pay a fine and costs. She also had her license suspended and is prohibited from drinking alcohol and attending bars.
Mantz was charged by state police at Stonington in connection with an Aug. 17 incident.
- Saylor sentenced Colton Trego, 25, of Herndon, for driving under the influence of alcohol to six months of intermediate punishment, with the first 30 days on house arrest. He also was ordered to pay a $750 fine plus costs, had his driver's license suspended for 12 months and is prohibited from attending bars and drinking alcohol.
Trego was charged by state police at Stonington in connection with a Jan. 20 incident.
- Joseph Candelora, 50, of Sunbury RD, was sentenced by Saylor to three days in Snyder County Prison on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol relating to incidents Nov. 21, 2013, and July 4, 2014. He was charged in both cases by state police at Stonington.
Candelora also must pay a $1,000 fine plus costs, had his driver's license suspended for one year and is prohibited from attending bars and drinking alcohol.
- Stephanie Lichty, 36, of Shamokin, was sentenced by Saylor to two years probation for a felony of criminal conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance involving an April 18 incident in Ralpho Township.
The judge ordered Lichty to continue to undergo counseling and drug rehabilitation and fined her $100 plus costs.
- Steven Ennis, 32, of Mount Carmel, was sentenced by Saylor to 18 months probation on a firearms offense and simple assault charge involving a Dec. 28, 2013, incident in Mount Carmel.
Ennis must pay $200 in fines plus costs and make $966 restitution to Shawn Soliday and $1,142.70 restitution to the Victims Compensation Assistance Program.
