Corruption of minors

MARION HEIGHTS - Michael A. Filipczak, 22 of 1580 Chestnut St., Lebanon, was charged with corruption of minors, selling or furnishing liquor or malt or brewed beverages, and two counts of criminal conspiracy following an Aug. 17 incident at an East Clermont Street home.

According to court documents filed by Mount Carmel Township police Patrolman Matthew Filarski, officers were called to Marion Heights for a noise complaint and found two individuals under the age of 21 drinking alcohol inside the residence.

An investigation showed Filipczak and another individual purchased the alcohol for the party and allegedly knew there were underage individuals attending.

Filipczak was arraigned Wednesday on the charges by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Jones Jan. 7.

Nuisance violations

SHAMOKIN - Two individuals were cited Dec. 16 by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano for violating Shamokin's public nuisance ordinance for the condition of their properties. All the property owners were previously sent a certified letter advising them of the code violations, but no response or corrections were made, Primerano said. Each was cited three previous times by city code officer Rick Bozza, also with no response.
