Aggravated assault
PITMAN - Melody Shingara, 52, of Pitman, was charged by state police at Schuylkill Haven with aggravated assault for allegedly swinging a meat cleaver and fillet knife that struck Scott Myer, 55, of Pitman, in each hand.
Police said the disturbance occurred at 12:35 a.m. Friday at 93 Ridge Road.
Shingar was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
Route 61 accident
COAL TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported in a minor two-vehicle accident Thursday night on Route 61 near Burger King.
Coal Township police said Joseph Dombroski, 53, of 212 W. Sunbury St., Shamokin, stopped his 2001 Chevrolet Blazer at the intersection waiting for the traffic signal to turn green at 8:33 p.m. when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle operated by Jill Yablonski, 42, of 1600 Wabash St., Coal Township.
Police said Yablonski was initially stopped at the intersection and proceeded forward when the light changed green before Dombroski had a chance to move.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.
Drug charges
SHAMOKIN - Richard A. Armstrong II, 33, and Timothy Allen Smith Jr., 22, both of 125 E. Arch St., Shamokin, were charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with possession of drug paraphernalia involving an incident at 10 p.m. Sunday at their home.
Both men were charged with possessing a smoking device used to ingest Spice. Armstrong also was charged with possessing Spice.
