Two caught in pursuit

SUNBURY - Two individuals were caught Friday evening following a pursuit through the city of Sunbury and on Snydertown Road.

Sunbury police reported officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver tried to escape. A short vehicular pursuit occurred without a danger to the public, police said.

The driver and his passenger abandoned the vehicle on Snydertown Road and attempted escape on foot. Sunbury Police K-9 Officer Scott Hause and K-9 Skoti were called in, and after a nighttime search, two offenders were apprehended. Taken into custody were Andrew Beal, 27, and a 17-year-old male, both of the Shamokin area.

Police said the investigation is continuing and charges are pending. Sunbury Police officers Hause, Travis Bremigan and Bradley Slack were backed up by officers of the Pennsylvania State Police and Shamokin Dam Police Department.

Scattering rubbish

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington report that at 4:58 p.m. Friday, someone disposed of two bags of rubbish along State Route 4005 near Route 61, and then fled in an unknown direction.

ATV accident

FIDLER'S GREEN - A Coal Run man sustained non-life threatening injuries after rolling his ATV north of this Coal Township village around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Jeff Cosgrove, 48, was transported out of the woods by a personal vehicle after rolling his Polaris Trail Blazer. Coal Township police said Cosgrove was not wearing a helmet and the ATV did not have DCNR tags.

Hit and run

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington continue to investigate a crash of a parked vehicle at 12:30 a.m. Saturday on South Fourth Street near Market Street.

Police say a 2014 Jeep Patriot was legally parked on Fourth Street facing north along the east curb, parked overnight while another vehicle, not identified by police, was parked facing southwest, near the Bowery Bar, and across from the Patriot. At that time, the vehicle backed up and, with its left rear, struck the left front fender of the Patriot, After the collision, the unknown vehicle fled the scene without providing his information to the owner of the Patriot.

Criminal mischief

SNYDERTOWN - Glenn F. Weller, 72, of 530 S. Main St., Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday, someone damaged a mailbox and post at his property on State Route 4005 near Route 61 in Snydertown.
