Dump truck in accident

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday on Route 61 near the south entrance to Tharptown.

Patrolman Chad Yoder reported Martin Sarfine, 53, of 1132 Center St., Coal Township, was traveling north on Route 61 in a 2003 Sterling dump truck, as was Brian Herb, 42, of 3357 Route 61, Sunbury in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Police say the two vehicles touched while coming past the entrance to Tharptown, causing Herb's vehicle to strike the guardrail and spin, eventually crossing the southbound lanes and coming to rest on the south shoulder of the highway.

The dump truck was not damaged, but Herb's vehicle sustained severe damage to the driver's side front wheel and hood. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Neither driver was injured, and police say charges are pending upon completion of the investigation.
