Two-vehicle crash
UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - One person suffered a minor injury in a two-vehicle crash on Highland Street at 4:15 p.m. Nov. 24.
State police at Stonington said a 2009 Cadillac STS, driven by Donald Hare, 81, of Sunbury, and a 2001 Ford Focus, driven by Stephen R. Bressi, 19, of Coal Township, were traveling south on Route 61 when Hare's vehicle ran into the back of the Focus, causing Bressi to veer off the highway.
The Cadillac continued off Route 61, driving through a grassy area and a fence at the Sunbury Water Treatment Facility. Hare went down over an embankment, stopping in a small stream.
Hare suffered a minor injury and was transported for treatment, police said. Bressi and his passenger, Jennifer R. Hornberger, 18, of Coal Township, were not injured.
Assaults at hospital
DANVILLE - Two individuals were cited for harassment following separate incidents at Danville State Hospital, according to state police at Milton.
Police said Stacy Lynn Oswald, 44, struck Tiffany Zentmeyer, 24, four or five times in the head during an altercation at 9 a.m. Nov. 26.
Also, Meagan Fay Sauder, 22, punched Jenny Summers, 20, several times in the head and kicked her during a fight at 2:20 p.m. Nov. 29.
Harassment charges were filed.
Criminal mischief
SHAMOKIN - A 13-year-old Shamokin male and a 12-year-old Coal Township male were cited by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for criminal mischief after allegedly defacing the property of others at 4:35 p.m. Sunday in the area of 1119 N. Lombard St.
According to police, the two youths threw eggs and trash onto porches and yards and poured pickle juice on a vehicle. The Shamokin male is also accused of throwing items into a neighbor's chimney.
Vehicle owners cited
SHAMOKIN - The following vehicle owners were cited by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for violating the city's abandoned vehicle ordinance.
- Roxanne Orluskie, 45, of 1015 W. Franklin St., was cited Nov. 3 for allowing a vehicle with an expired and suspended registration and an expired inspection sticker to sit at the Raspberry Hill complex near unit No. 3.
- Sean Mikulak, 30, of 1106 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, cited Nov. 24 for having a vehicle with an expired inspection at the intersection of Pulaski and Lombard streets.
- Eric Smith, 41, of 209 S. Franklin St., cited Nov. 24 for having a vehicle with an expired inspection in the 900 block of East Chestnut Street.
- Brian C. Snyder, 41, of 1000 N. Orange St.. cited Nov. 24 for having a vehicle with an expired inspection at the intersection of Orange and Cameron streets.
'Spice' possession
COAL TOWNSHIP - Two males face drug possession charges following a traffic stop at a DUI checkpoint Sept. 30.
Shamokin City Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle reported he was working at a checkpoint at Route 61 and Feeney Street when he observed a vehicle traveling north on Route 61, back up and travel in the wrong direction in the northbound lane before being stopped by Scandle.
Scandle said the driver, Michael Wisnoskie, 20, of 76 Church St., Locust Gap, had bloodshot eyes and appeared to be fatigued. Wisnoskie told the officer he had been smoking "spice" or synthetic marijuana, and there was more of the material inside his vehicle.
The passengers, Eric Fletcher, 19, of Murenburg, and a female juvenile, were asked to leave the vehicle. A search of the vehicle uncovered two packets of synthetic marijuana and a glass pipe which was determined to belong to Fletcher.
Wisnoskie and Fletcher were charged with possession of a controlled substance without a license and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Gun violation
COAL TOWNSHIP - Jacob Snyder, 22, of 1032 W. Spruce St., was charged with misdemeanor charges of improper delivery of a firearm and transferring a firearm to another person without a license following an incident on Sept. 16 in the east end of the township.
Coal Township Police Det. Jeffrey Brennan said in court documents, a victim, not identified by police, reported a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum handgun was taken from the residence. The victim indicated Snyder had taken it.
Snyder allegedly told police he took the gun from the residence and traded it in Williamsport for 50 bags of heroin.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Drug paraphernalia
SHAMOKIN - Raymond K. Villari, 28, of 311 S. Seventh St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after being found with a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana and a plastic bag used for packaging narcotics.
The discovery was made while Villari was allegedly smoking marijuana with a juvenile male in the area of the Fifth Street playground. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
False reports
SHAMOKIN - Shamokin City Police Patrolman Shane Mowery charged Norman J. Hemerka, 42, of 319 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 1, with giving a false report to police following the investigation into a crash on Nov. 30.
Police were called to Hemerka's home for a reported hit-and-run accident in which he said another vehicle hit his. Officers were investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a fire hydrant, and pieces of debris found at that scene matched Hemerka's vehicle. Hemerka told police he may have struck the fire hydrant the night before.
The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III of Shamokin.
Needle possession
SHAMOKIN - Clinton Geist, 30, of 216 E. Cameron St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Jarrod Scandle, after finding a syringe in Geist's possession while responding to a verbal argument between him and his father at 7:27 p.m. Nov. 13. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
DUI
COAL TOWNSHIP - Police officer Matthew Henrich charged John W. Gemberling, 24, of 711 E. Race St., Shamokin, with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on Bear Valley Road at 2:50 a.m. Nov. 23.
Henrich was called to the scene for a suspicious vehicle in the roadway and found Gemberling trying to start his vehicle. Henrich said Gemberling was sitting in the truck and was naked from the waist down. After failing field sobriety tests, Gemberling was taken for chemical testing, which showed his blood alcohol level was .242 percent.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Drug charges
SHAMOKIN - Police charged Steven W. Schlief, 20, of 4540 State Route 61, Paxinos, with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after an investigation into a vehicle stolen Nov. 30.
Shamokin City Police Patrolman Shane Mowery reported in court documents that Schlief allegedly stole his grandmother's car from Sunbury and was in possession of narcotics. Another witness told police Schlief was in the 800 block of North Rock Street and threw a bag of what appeared to be marijuana into the backyard of an abandoned home.
Police found the bag, which contained green vegetable material and a red-and-black colored pipe. Schlief told police that the bag contained "Spice," or synthetic marijuana, that he purchased on the Internet.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Paraphernalia charge
COAL TOWNSHIP - Johnathan R, Grove, 26, of 1465 Pulaski Ave., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Coal Township Police after an investigation at his residence, where a glass water pipe and metal smoking pipe were found in his bedroom by a state parole agent.
The charge was filed in the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Burglary charges
RIVERSIDE - Andrew W. Pankotai, 28, of 25 Blue Springs Terrace, Danville, has been charged by Trooper Todd Leiby of state police at Stonington with two counts each of burglary, criminal trespass and access device fraud, three counts of theft, and two counts each of receiving stolen property and loitering and prowling at night.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Pankotai stole 100 tablets of Tramadol, $60 in cash, an M&T Bank card, a power inverter, a portable gun safe, a ball hitch, a Pioneer car stereo and ratchet straps belonging to Brad Diehl, Frances Kerr and Troy Roberts.
Police said the burglaries occurred Nov. 22 at 850 Fourth St. and 704 Avenue D, Riverside.
DUI
RIVERSIDE - Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving with alcohol in his system while being a minor, reckless driving, underage drinking and driving under suspension were filed by Riverside Officer Kerry Parkes against Cody A. Long, 19, of 9 Gearhart St., P.O. Box 132, Riverside.
The charges relate to a Nov. 24 high-speed chase on various streets in Riverside.
Theft charges
RIVERSIDE - Patrolman Kerry Parkes has charged three men in connection with thefts that occurred between Nov. 8 and Nov. 9 at 1302 Avenue F in Riverside.
Corey M. Hummel, 19, of Muncy, is charged with nine counts of theft from a motor vehicle, three counts of receiving stolen property and one count each of criminal conspiracy and corruption of minors.
Dustyn Kolenda, 18, of Muncy, is charged with one count of criminal conspiracy and nine counts each of theft from a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
Elijah M. Jones, 20, of Danville, is charged with one count of receiving stolen property.
The three men are accused of being involved in the thefts of an iPod Touch 32 GB owned by Jillian Johnson; a cooler full of beer belonging to John Weller; an iPod Nano owned by Courtney Zampetti; cash belonging to Joshua Poticher; cash and a purse owned by Ruth Browneller; cash and a wallet owned by Lynn Reichen; cash, cigarettes and a wallet belonging to Matthew Mitchell; CDs and a case owned by Vincent Zampetti, and cash belonging to Timothy McQuiston.
DUI offenses
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Aaron E. Pollock, 25, of 622 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman David Stamets with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, driving at an unsafe speed and a red light violation in connection with an April 13 incident on Route 61 near Kulpmont.
Police said Pollock had a blood-alcohol content of .178 percent.
Retail theft
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Jade Swank, 21, of 262 Roadarmel Lane, Paxinos, was charged by Patrolman David Stamets with retail theft.
She is accused of stealing $106.67 in merchandise from CVS Pharmacy Oct. 30.
DUI
RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Travis C. Beam, 50, of Shenandoah, was charged by Patrolman Christopher Grow with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, driving under suspension and possession of four hydrocodone/acetaminophene tablets.
Police said Beam had a blood-alcohol content of .132 percent.
The charges relate to a June 3 incident along Route 54 at All Saints Cemetery.
Simple assault
MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment were filed by Patrolman Justin Stelma against Daniel J. Renn Jr., 32, of 431 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel.
Police reported Renn assaulted his mother, Colleen Renn, at 420 E. Avenue Nov. 6.
Drug offenses
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Michael Pitcavage has charged Randy Lee Campbell, 19, of 815 Ash St., Kulpmont, with possession of a controlled substance, misbranding or adulterating a controlled substance, driving without lights to avoid being detected, driving without lights between sunset and sunrise and possession of drug paraphernalia involving a May 28 incident along Arcos Road in Strong.
Police said Campbell possessed acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride.
