DUI
UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Daniel J. Wilk filed charges of driving under the influence against Kerry E. Reidinger, 50, of Danville, following the investigation into an Aug. 4 traffic stop at the intersection of Black Mill Road and Maple Road.
One vehicle crash
FOSTER TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash on I-81 at 1:20 a.m. Sunday.
State police at Frackville report a 2003 Ford Taurus, driven by Dustin Rebuck, 34, of Lavelle, was traveling north on I-81 when he lost control of his vehicle, left the left berm of the road and struck an embankment. The crash caused the Taurus to overturn several times before coming to rest upright in the left berm area.
Rebuck did not report any injuries, but the vehicle was heavily damaged and towed from the scene. Police said Rebuck was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and later submitted to chemical testing. The investigation continues.
Public drunkenness
SHAMOKIN - Stephen M. Orner, 26, and Jenna C. Leach, 33, both of 195 E. Center St., Elysburg, were cited for public drunkenness by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Nathan Rhoades after being found under the influence of a controlled substance in the area of Third and Arch streets at 2 p.m. Sept. 3.
Charge withdrawn
MOUNT CARMEL - A charge of bad checks was withdrawn in the case against Coleen M. Lowry, 31, of 465 Mountain Road, Shamokin, after she made restitution to the victim.
Ralpho Township Police filed the charge with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel after Lowry issued a check for $319.90 to Miller's Gas and Oil on April 23.
Retail theft
MOUNT CARMEL - Regina M. Merritt, 54, of 206 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged with two counts of retail theft after allegedly attempting to steal $14.45 of prepackaged deli meats from Boyer's Food Market, Mount Carmel, at 2:35 p.m. Aug. 24.
Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell filed the charges with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing on the charges is set for Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Property citations
SHAMOKIN - Louis Lippolis, of 846 Allentown Road, Sellersville, was issued four citations - two on Thursday and two on Friday - by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for the condition of his property at 14 S. Shamokin St.
According to the citations, the front roof is partially detached from the home and is in danger of collapsing onto the sidewalks. Also, garbage was seen in the yard, which also was filled with high grass and weeds.
Mail stolen
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton are asking the public to be aware of a rash of mail theft over the last few days.
Police said 16 people have reported mail containing checks and payments was removed from mailboxes. A birthday card to a mother with no envelope was recovered in the mail. The thefts occurred in various locations, including Vincent Avenue, Barney Drive, Mexico Road, Stone Fence Road, Winder Road, Golf Course Road, Menno Lane and Eschbach Road in Delaware and West Chillisquaque townships.
Residents in those areas are requested to check with their respective creditors to ensure payments were received and to report any stolen mail.
Phone scam
SHAMOKIN - City police want the public to be aware of a new phone scam in which the caller asks for money to release a relative from an overseas jail after being arrested for DUI.
Police said the caller has identified himself as Daniel Moore, and the number is not local.
Do not send money over the phone, police said.
