Disorderly conduct

COAL TOWNSHIP - Gregory Poltenovage, 44, of 1440 Hemlock St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Joshua Wynn for disorderly conduct for allegedly screaming and using profanities on his front porch at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Poltenovage also is accused of throwing a beer can at his neighbor's home.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jarrad J. Mariano, 33, of 1212 W. Fern St., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and careless driving relating to an April 15 accident in the 1000 block of West Mulberry Street.

Police reported Mariano was traveling west at about 9 p.m. when his vehicle rear-ended a double-parked vehicle operated by Kathleen James, of 1041 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, and then drifted backward into a parked unattended vehicle owned by Kathryn Fanella, of 1027 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township.

Abandoned vehicles

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has cited four individuals for violating the city's abandoned vehicle ordinance.

Kenneth Kline, of 1750 W. Gowen St., Coal Township, was cited for allowing his vehicle to be parked in a city lot at Rock and Clay streets on April 3 with an expired inspection.

Joleen Lee Kumangai Sanders, of 404 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was cited for allowing her vehicle to be parked in the 400 block of South Shamokin Street on April 4 with no valid inspection.

Harold J. Smith, of 312 W. Main St., Bloomsburg, was cited for allowing his vehicle to be parked in a city lot at Rock and Clay streets on April 3 with an expired registration.

Tonya Sue Ditty, of Sunbury RR 5, was cited for allowing her vehicle to be parked on Commerce Street near Ninth Street on April 4 with an expired registration.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Robert E. Whispell III, 26, of 720 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness involving a disturbance at 3:40 a.m. Sunday at an apartment at 423 N. Shamokin St.

Police said Whispell attempted to enter the apartment without permission.

Man exposes self

SHAMOKIN - Neil A. Haddock, 28, of 834 W. Willow St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Nathan Rhodes for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct for exposing his buttocks in the middle of the first block of East Independence Street shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - James O. Hill, 55, of 612 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for public drunkenness after he wrecked his bicycle at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Second and Walnut streets.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Andrew D. Long, 32, of 19 N. First St., Shamokin, was arraigned at 11:30 a.m. Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on charges of simple assault and harassment involving a domestic disturbance earlier in the day.

Long is charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with grabbing his wife, Tiffany Long, by the throat and pushing her to the ground before choking her, causing neck pain. Police said Andrew Long also is accused of causing damage to the home and a cell phone, which prevented his wife from calling 911.

Police said the disturbance occurred at 1:43 a.m.

Long was released on $5,000 unsecured bail and ordered to avoid contact with his wife.

DUI

STRONG - Matthew A. Eckley, 24, of 213 W. Pine St., Frackville, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and a red light violation relating to a Feb. 9 incident at the intersection of routes 54 and 61.

Police reported Eckley had a blood-alcohol content of .184 percent and also had marijuana in his blood system.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief were filed by Patrolman Justin Stelma against David T. Miller III, 42, of 24 E. Third St., Apt. 202, Mount Carmel.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Miller is accused of grabbing his girlfriend, Shelby Kopp, and pushing her through the front door glass window pane, causing her right forearm to bleed profusely. Kopp required several stitches on her right arm in the emergency room at a local hospital.

Checkpoint results

STONINGTON - Members of the Pennsylvania State Police Troop F, which covers stations at Stonington, Milton and Selinsgrove, made four DUI arrests and issued eight summary traffic violations during a sobriety checkpoint Saturday along Route 61 at the Upper Augusta Township/Sunbury City line.

Police also took into custody Christopher Porter, 23, of Port Trevorton, who was wanted by the Montour County Sheriff's Office and committed to Montour County Jail.

Retail theft

NORWEGIAN TOWNSHIP - State police at Schuylkill Haven have charged Robert Joseph Link, 18, of Frackville, and a 17-year-old male from Ashland with retail theft involving the theft of approximately $700 in merchandise from Kohl's and Boscov's in the Fairlane Village Mall Saturday afternoon.

After both suspects removed $424 in clothing from Kohl's at 3:30 p.m., the 17-year-old was stopped by a loss prevention employee while Link fled the scene in a blue Jeep Liberty. The juvenile went back into the store with the loss prevention employee and waited for state police to arrive.

Police said Link was located and stopped by state police at Frackville.

In addition to the theft at Kohl's, the suspects are accused of stealing $280 in merchandise from Boscov's.

All the stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the stores.
