Rear-end collision

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a rear-end collision involving a dump truck at the traffic light near the former Ames building Tuesday at 1:45 p.m. The front-right portion of a Waste Management truck struck the rear-left of a utility truck. No other information was available.

Trail camera stolen

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating the theft of a trail camera owned by Jeremy Wayne Cooper, 40, of North Front Street, Sunbury.

Police said the camera was stolen from the area of 277 Plum Creek Road at 5:30 p.m. March 20.

The thief fled the scene on foot toward Route 890.

Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call state police at 286-5601.

Drug paraphernalia

ELYSBURG - Cory Daniel Hine, 21, of 2103 Airport Road, Elysburg, was charged by Ralpho Township Cpl. Bryon Chowka with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Feb. 15 incident at Helfrick's Grove along Quarry Road.

Police said Hine possessed two mechanic sockets containing burnt marijuana residue.

DUI, drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Two Mount Carmel residents have been charged in connection with a March 9 vehicle stop along Route 61 near Transtar in Strong.

Kelly S. Reigle, 40, of 128 S. Market St., was charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol and a drug, operating a vehicle without proper inspection, a lighting violation and failure to drive in a single lane.

Matthew Steven Dietz, 22, of 123 E. Cherry St., a passenger in Reigle's vehicle, was charged by Campbell with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bad checks

MOUNT CARMEL - Mary Ellen Vincenzes, 51, of 138 S. Oak St., Apt. 2-A, was charged by Patrolman Kevin Katch with two counts each of theft by deception and bad checks.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Vincenzes is accused of issuing three bad checks totaling $490 to Matlow's Clothing Store on South Oak Street on Feb. 5 and Feb. 6.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and possession of Oxycontin have been filed by Patrolman Matthew Filarski against Cassie Nichole Beers, 19, of New Columbia.

Police reported Beers stole approximately 20 Oxycontin pills belonging to Randy Swavely from his residence at 819 W. Sixth St. on Tuesday morning.

Recklessly endangering

COAL TOWNSHIP - A Ranshaw man has been charged with preventing people from stopping an assault outside Brady Fire Company in October that resulted in serious injuries to the victim.

Jack Zimmerman, 39, of 537 Main St., is charged by Patrolman Joshua Wynn with misdemeanors of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct. The offenses relate to a disturbance in which Richard "Ricky" J. Madden, 27, of 1000 W. Willow St., Coal Township, was charged with repeatedly punching and kicking Dale Wilk Jr., 31, of 2004 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, and slamming his head off the ground outside Brady Fire Company at about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 20.

Wilk suffered bruises and scrapes on his head and face in the attack and required emergency room treatment.

The victim told police he has "blacked out" since the assault and continues to consult with a doctor.

Zimmerman is accused of blocking a doorway at the fire company, which prevented people from stopping the assault. Police said Zimmerman, who refused to move from the doorway, stated that Wilk deserved getting assaulted.
