MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court April 28 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

- Hassan Quarles, 45, of 901 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, pleaded guilty to one summary count of harassment and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $605.90. Two counts of terroristic threats and another count of harassment were withdrawn.

Qaurles was charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Patrick McAndrew with threatening to shoot Joseph Drost II in the legs and calling his girlfriend, Isamar Hertzog, "an easy target," according to a criminal complaint.

The alleged incident occurred about 4:30 a.m. Feb. 2 at Turkey Hill Minit Market, 862 Chestnut St., when Drost confronted Quarles for repeatedly flirting with Hertzog.

- David X. Hernandez, 18, of 244 W. Cherry St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to a summary of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $605.90. Charges of theft and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.

Hernandez was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman with stealing nine DVDs, blood pressure medications and Viagra tablets having a total value of $205. Police said the items were stolen from Abdul Faiz on Feb. 5 at 8 S. Oak St.

- Stacey L. Darginski, 27, of 310 Main St., Ranshaw, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. An additional charge of possession of a controlled substance was withdrawn.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets Jr. in connection with a March 12, 2012, incident at the intersection of Routes 901 and 54 near Boylan's Garage.

- Tyler Anthony Lenig, 25, of 2993 Lower Road, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to reckless driving and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $302. Additional charges of criminal mischief, careless driving and recklessly endangering another person were withdrawn.

Lenig was charged by Trooper Todd Leiby of state police at Stonington in connection with a Jan. 16, 2011, road rage type incident along Routes 125, 2046 and 3004 in West Cameron Township.
