Hit and run
COAL TOWNSHIP - Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident between 8:30 and 11 a.m. Tuesday that caused damage to a 2006 Nissan truck while it was parked in the 1600 block of Tioga Street.
Police said the suspect vehicle would have damage to its passenger side outside mirror. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coal Township Police at 644-0333.
Theft charges
MOUNT CARMEL - David Xavier Hernandez, 18, of 244 W. Cherry St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with theft and receiving stolen property relating to a Feb. 5 theft at 8 S. Oak St.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Hernandez is accused of stealing nine DVDs, blood pressure medications and Viagra tablets valued at $205 from Abdul Faiz.
DUI
KULPMONT - Cindy Ann Santore, 45, of 217 Third St., Ranshaw, was charged by Patrolman Shane Reamer with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane and careless driving relating to a Jan. 27 traffic stop in the 1400 block of Chestnut Street.
Police reported Santore had a blood-alcohol content of .20 percent.
DUI
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Kenneth Shustack, 42, of 227 W. Saylor St., Atlas, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving and two red light violations relating to a Feb. 5 incident on Route 54 in the area of the Strong Connector.
Police said Shustack refused to submit to a blood test.
DUI
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Kelsy Ann Janolek, 18, of 140 N. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol while being a minor, operating a vehicle with alcohol in her system while being a minor, underage drinking and a lighting violation.
Police reported Janolek had a blood-alcohol content .024 percent.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Daniel Politza in connection with a Dec. 30 incident near the intersection of Fifth Street and Beaverdale Highway.
DUI
KULPMONT - Chief of Police Richard Wilson III has charged Nicholas James Dusendschine, 19, of 716 Spruce St., Kulpmont, with driving under the influence of Alprazolam and Delta-9 Carboxy THC, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, accidents involving damage to attended property, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to give information and render aid and restrictions on driver's licenses.
The charges relate to a Jan. 31 accident at Eighth and Chestnut streets.
DUI
KULPMONT - A 33-year-old borough woman is accused of having been drunk behind the wheel of a vehicle that crashed into a snow pile on Chestnut Street in January.
Blood testing performed about 45 minutes after the 3 a.m. crash Jan. 24 found Jill Marie Donkochik, of 1411 Chestnut St., to have a blood alcohol level of 0.321 percent, more than four times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Witnesses told police Donkochik was swerving in the southbound lane of Route 61 before entering Kulpmont, where she crashed a 2003 Chevy Cavalier into a snow pile in the 1500 block of Chestnut Street (Route 61) near 15th Street.
Police said Donkochik was intoxicated at the scene and was unaware that she had crashed. She denied drinking any alcohol, according to a criminal complaint. She failed field sobriety testing and was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for blood testing.
Patrolman Shane Reamer charged her with two counts of driving under the influence and a summary charge of careless driving. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, is scheduled for March 21.
Drug charges
RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Drug charges have been filed by Patrolman Christopher Grow against David J. Kondisko, 25, of 341 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel; Justin C. Hendricks, 26, of 1018 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, and Gerald Lee Bojanac, 25, of 148 North St., Edinburg, relating to a Nov. 26 traffic stop at the intersection of Hickory Street and Route 487 in Elysburg.
Bojanac was charged with possessing two Vicoden tablets, adulterating or misbranding a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia. Hendricks and Kondisko are charged with possessing a small amount of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Threats alleged
KULPMONT - Police said a borough man threatened to harm both a convenience store clerk and her boyfriend during an argument last month.
Hassan Quarles, 45, of 901 Chestnut St., is accused of threatening to shoot Joseph Drost II in the legs and calling his girlfriend, Isamar Hertzog, "an easy target," according to a criminal complaint.
The alleged incident occurred about 4:30 a.m. Feb. 2 at Turkey Hill Minit Market, 862 Chestnut St., when Drost confronted Quarles for repeatedly flirting with Hertzog.
Patrolman Patrick McAndrew charged Quarles with two counts each of misdemeanor terroristic threats and summary harassment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel. He is jailed at Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $15,000 bail.
