Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - James Scott, 32, of 234 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with disorderly conduct for allegedly throwing two bags of garbage onto his neighbor's porch at 3 p.m. Sept. 2.

Police said the victim is Kelle Hill, of 232 S. Franklin St.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - John Valenskie, 37, of 1654 W. Wood St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for public drunkenness after he was found unconscious lying on a sidewalk at Independence and Cleaver streets at 11:33 p.m. Sept. 8.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Fabian Roque, 34, of 911 N. Vine St., Shamokin, and Justin Fisher, 24, of 909 N. Vine St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for screaming and threatening each other at 6:46 p.m. Sept. 8 outside their homes.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - A 17-year-old Shamokin male was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for underage drinking involving an incident at 11 p.m. Aug. 7 at Pearl and Willow streets.

Swings rake

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Raymond Siko II has cited a 17-year-old Shamokin male for disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 3:32 p.m. Sept. 8 outside his home in which he allegedly swung a rake.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Barbara L. Kashner, 45, of 136 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell with driving under the influence of a controlled substance in connection with an Aug. 15 sobriety checkpoint along Route 61 near the former Sam Bressi Motors.

Police reported Kashner had Butalbital, Oxycodone-Free, Carisoprodol and Meprobamate in her blood system.

Dangerous dog

SHAMOKIN - Dog Warden Mark J. Rusinko charged Carol Brown, 56, of 133 S. Market St., Shamokin, with two misdemeanor counts of failure to comply with the requirements of owning a dog deemed dangerous and one misdemeanor count each of failure to register a dangerous dog and failure to pay the annual $500 registration fee.

Rusinko said Brown was served with a registration packet at her residence June 30 for her American Pitbull Terrier, Sweetpea, but did not follow through with the requirements.

DUI, crash

SHAMOKIN - Lisa Nadine Wyland, 50, of 216 W. Independence St., Shamokin, was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II with driving under the influence of drugs, accidents involving damage to attended property, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and failure to stay in her lane for a 10:19 a.m. Aug. 19 incident.

Siko said Wyland was under the influence of amphetamine, Lorazepam, Alprazolam and Zolpidem when she was found next to her 2004, which apparently struck a utility pole.

While visiting the scene of this crash, Siko said he was approached by Thomas Aber, who reported he had been following Wyland when she rear ended another vehicle near the intersection of Sunbury and Market streets. Aber said Wyland then reversed and also struck his car. He said he then saw her drive off and he followed her as she wove across multiple lanes until she struck the utility pole.

The vehicles had damage consistent with Aber's story, Siko said.

DUI checkpoint

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. filed the following charges in connection to a sobriety checkpoint held the night of July 25 on Route 61 near the old Sam Bressi Motors:

- Two misdemeanor counts of DUI against John Jeffries, 28, of 344 E. Market St., P.O. Box 423, Gratz, for an alleged blood alcohol level of .13 percent.

- Two misdemeanor counts of DUI against Michael E. Cox, 58, of 726 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, for an alleged blood alcohol level of .128 percent.

- One misdemeanor count of DUI of Oxycodone and DUI of alcohol and a controlled substance against Lynn A. Daya, 41, of 1113 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, for an alleged blood alcohol level of .223 percent and 8.3 nanograms of Oxycodone.

DUI, hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Samuel Jeremiah, 54, of 2 S. Poplar St., Coal Township, faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, accidents involving damage to attended property, leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving for an incident that occurred at 11:07 p.m. June 30.

Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. said Jeremiah crashed into the porch steps of 912 and 914 W. Chestnut St. and a Dumpster before fleeing the scene. Purcell said he found Jeremiah's white van near JR's Mini Mart and when he activated his lights, Jeremiah continued driving. When Jeremiah finally pulled over, he admitted to Purcell he struck the Dumpster, Purcell said.

A blood test revealed a blood alcohol content of .34 percent and the presence of Clonazepam, Alprazolam, Oxycodone and Oxymorphone, according to the criminal complaint.

Retail theft, public drunkenness

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. charged Casey Raab, 25, of 112 Short St., Coal Township, with a misdemeanor count of retail theft and a summary citation of public drunkeness for a 4 p.m. Aug. 31 incident at Walmart Supercenter.

Purcell said Raab attempted to steal two game cameras valued at $248. He smelled strongly of alcohol, said Purcell.

DUI, careless driving

COAL TOWNSHIP - Edward L. Kopchak, 55, of 231 North St., P.O. Box 272, Marion Heights, faces charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving for a 2:22 a.m. Aug. 20 crash.

Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. said Kopchak was under the influence of Lorazepam when he struck an embankment and a tree along Upper Sagon Road while driving a green Dodge truck.

DUI, underage drinking

COAL TOWNSHIP - Shaylee Pesarchick, 18, of 2102 W. Independence St., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell Jr. with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and summary citations of being a minor operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking.

Purcell said Pesarchick was discovered at a sobriety checkpoint at 12:35 a.m. Aug. 15 on Route 61 near the old Sam Bressi Motors with a blood alcohol content of .056 percent.
