MOUNT CARMEL - Charges against three individuals were either ordered held to court or dismissed during preliminary hearings Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones.
- Charges of assault by a prisoner, resisting arrest, two counts of disorderly conduct, terroristic threats and simple assault filed against Johnathon F. Steckley, 31, of 437 E. Water St., Mount Carmel, were ordered held to court.
Steckley was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Matthew Dillman following an incident outside Steckley's home and at the Mount Carmel Borough Police Department July 27.
He was ordered to appear for court arraignment in Northumberland County Court Sept. 8, when he can either plead guilty or no contest or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
- Charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property were withdrawn against Sean M. McDermott, 46, of 497 S. River Breeze Ave., Winfield, when the victim refused to testify.
McDermott was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush following a motorcycle theft from an Atlas home July 22.
- Charges of simple assault and harassment filed against Matthew Alan Gray, 36, of 533 Montour Road, Paxinos, were withdrawn when the victim refused to testify.
Gray was charged by Ralpho Township Police Patrolman Bryon Chowka following an incident at his home July 31 involving a physical altercation with another individual.
